while i was impressed with the fried chicken, i must say the collard greens & candied yams stole the show!

a saratoga institution. i had the shrimp gumbo. i’ve never been to new orleans but this was delicious. the spices danced on my tongue. hush puppies, fried okra, blackened catfish and mashed potatoes were also all delicious. my kids had fried chicken which i tasted and i must say it’s the best i’ve had in the capital district. no contest.

what's not to love about this place? amazing southern kitchen, with reasonably priced, tasty grub. i immensely enjoyed a cajun omlette, but had diners remorse when i saw the chicken and waffles that the guy at the table next to us ordered. it looked and smelled amazing. guess i'm going to have to go back when i'm in town again.

the woman that owns this place has to be the meanest person i've ever met in saratoga! she treated my family (85 year old father, wife and three young children) horribly! steer clear...

terrific fried chicken & fixin's plus one of the best bloody mary's i've had in years (heavy on the horseradish!)  intimate for sure, but still fun.  prefer going in the fall and winter when the track crowds and tourists head south.  august - forget about it.

you have to be kidding!. we got fried chicken, collard greens, and beans with rice. what a waste of $40. chicken was dried up yuck with a heavy fried coating. collard greens were sickeningly sweet. rice was dry and beans had a flavor that absolutely did not belong. she would not eat any of it (especially with the dried blood and veins visible in the chicken). i ate some of the chicken because i was starved. the rest was trashed. this restaraunt is an insult to saratoga and the original hatties establishment. we got this meal to go otherwise i would have demanded a refund.

hattie’s restaurant review. who knew that you could find a delicious southern restaurant on the back streets of saratoga springs, ny? complete with a casual, laid back, and friendly atmosphere that is hattie’s restaurantsynonymous with the south, is just that. originally opened as hattie’s chicken shack in 1938, it has been known as the place to go for amazing food, great drinks, and spectacular service. after hearing plenty of people talking about this restaurant, my family and i decided to try it out one weekend.

the menu is full of some of the most delectable southern meals you can find in one place. in fact, it was almost impossible to choose what to try. after starting with the mouth watering hush puppies and the delicious good ‘n evil chicken wings that had the perfect amount of crispness, i was almost too full for my main entrée.

i had opted for the fried chicken after learning that it had beat out bobby flay’s several years ago and i was not disappointed. having grown up in the south, i thought i knew good fried chicken. however, i was not prepared for how delicious it would be. crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and not greasy at all, it was definitely the best i have ever tasted. i paired it with creamy mashed potatoes and perfectly seasoned collard greens. as a result of the huge portions, i took more than half of it home and was surprised to find out that it is just as good the next day.

my girlfriend opted for the spicy jambalaya, a dish that she always enjoys when we visit louisiana. she found the mix of sausage, shrimp, and chicken to be “out of this world.” my nephew chose the slow cooked bbq spare ribs, which i happened to steal a bite of. tender, moist, and covered in a barbeque sauce that was the perfect mix of salty and sweet, they peeled right off the bone and could be cut with a fork. accompanied by outstanding, light as a feather biscuits, buttery and sweet corn on the cob, and delicious cranberry coleslaw, it was a meal he swears he will never forget.

while hattie’s has an impressive selection of premium and domestic beers, as well as

i just ordered a whole bunch of sides: two eggs over easy, grits, home fries, and sausage gravy. the egg yolks were cooked through, which was disappointing, but everything else was so delicious, i was still really happy with my meal. i would definitely go back for another hattie’s brunch!

absolutely loved it! we got the jambalaya and the mac and cheese- amazing! the food was a bit pricey, but made up for it in quality and taste. the service was also very good- everyone was friendly and very attentive. i would highly recommend it.
