harvest seasonal grill & wine bar – glen mills

a very hip, urban rustic viibe married to open grille. love the outdoor dining too. deliciously-worded menu makes selecting your food hard but no choice we made was a bad one. all selections are ~ 500 calories or less & made from local organic fare. great wine selection by the glass too. don't worry about saving room for dessert because every option is just a scrumptious little taste.

the offerings at the bar more than made up for the wait and the crowd. there was an extensive wine list, decadent cocktails, and a sizable selection of beer including several local offerings and even one seasonal organic.

harvest seasonal grill is at the north end of glen eagle square, the same strip mall as whole foods, at us-202 and springhill drive. the parking lot does get rather packed at times, although we were able to park not too far from the restaurant on an afternoon during the holiday shopping season.

this is an upscale restaurant, so entrees are priced between $15 and $30. however, they have a lot of healthy options, including a vegetarian section of the menu. the few entrees that are over 500 calories are indicated as such. we shared a cheese board, which included an interesting selection of cheeses and jams from local farms, plus crackers, flatbreads, and fruit. my entree was the spicy shrimp noodle bowl, which had a lot of flavor, although the portion size wasn't as big as i hoped. the $3 dessert cups are a nice idea too if you're looking for something that's not too heavy after the meal.

only nitpicks i have concerned the service. while our server was very charming and hospitable, i had to ask for silverware and plate twice. also, she dropped things on the floor when cleaning up and spilled a lot of iced tea pouring a refill, so maybe be a bit more careful? overall though, it was a splendid meal. prices are steep though so i won't be back too often on my own, but i'd recommend it at least once just to experience the locally-sourced food.

this place sucks. this place is over rated and hostesses are rude. wait time is too long when there are no options to wait when the bar is full. waiting an hour for a table is not worth the wait. keep it moving and go somewhere else...mile high is a better choice for the area.

this was my first time here and my husband and i decided to try it for lunch. the atmosphere was great and waitstaff were professional (although our server lacked a bit of personality). the food was wonderful and it was lovely to see a restaurant that understood portion control. my only critique would be in how they offer you dessert, they bring the tray to you with ready-to-eat desserts on them, with spoons for you...essentially asking you to pick one because "we know you want one." to me, it just felt a bit pressured.

loved it- the wine flights, little desserts - outside dining and local food.

sct. i have visited the restaurant 4 times. love the concept. the first time the service and food were great. each time the i returned the service continued to go down hill. the last time i was there all food arrived cold, flatbread was burned. i asked for a replacement. the flat-bread and the server disappeared never to return. great concept but these guys have go to get the service part down.

birthday dinner for wife. took my wife there for her birthday and this was our second and last visit. our chicken dinner was $19.99 and it was horrible. mostly bones with about 3 pieces of meat. really!. just another lousy restaurant by the magrogan group.

i loved the seasonal menu, the local growers listed, the many vegetarian and vegan choices, and the atmosphere. this would be a great place to return to for lunch, and i thought the prices were reasonable.

not your typical restaurant. great food, presentation, nice staff, frequent 1-2 times a week.

been there the first week it opened with a group of 5, we were happy with appetizers but very disappointed with our entered. been there again, this time with my husband, surprised to be disappointed again, our salad for lunch was so wilted and so saturated with dressing...not cool at all. i've learned my lesson.

a disappointing birthday. i decided i wanted to check out harvest for my birthday dinner. my sister made the reservation on opentable and put in a specific note that it was my birthday. not only did our waiter never even acknowledge my birthday in any way, he also was not personable at all. can't remember the name for sure, but i think it was dan.

anyway, just as we were finishing our appetizer (a delicious goat cheese and honey platter), my sister found a hair in the food. the size and texture of the hair made it very clear that it was neither from my sister's or my head.

so, ok, accidents happen -- that wouldn't be a deal-breaker in and of itself. we flagged down the waiter and explained what had happened. his response was, i quote, "yeah, ok," and took the plate away swiftly. i guess that was his way of dealing with it promptly and deferring to the manager, but he did not indicate that he was doing so, nor did he even say sorry.

several minutes later, the manager came over and apologized to us, but his tone made it all feel a little bit awkward. they comped us for the appetizer and offered another one, but we declined since we had been almost done with the first one anyway.

it seemed like the waiter paid us even less attention after all that. i had ordered a glass of wine originally, and my glass sat empty for a long time, but he never asked if i wanted some more. (i didn't, but wouldn't you at least ask? it's a wine bar!) as he was clearing our plates, he took away my wine glass without ever once offering to refill it. very strange.

maybe it would just depend on the server you get, because we overheard a waitress at the next table and she seemed very friendly. i will say that the food was very good, and the atmosphere is excellent. but it's highly unlikely i will ever go back to this place.

waitstaff was attentive and professional. however, the moldy pita and involuntary omission of other portions of the meal left us wishing we had just gone nextdoor to outback. the excellent ambiance wasn't offset by the miniature portions.

i really like this place. i recommend reservations but even then you might wait 5-10 minutes. the serving sizes are small but what us americans should be eating. it is a bit loud with the open kitchen but not intrusive. service was great and atmosphere extremely chill.

we had an amazing dinner last night. the food was delicious, portions were nice and presentation was attractive. our waiter couldn't have friendlier, maybe a little too friendly. service was slow. otherwise excellent and reasonably priced.
