fun-tastic place. we stopped in about happy hour time for a few drinks and something to eat. some of the appetizers half half price after 4 pm, and we just ordered the chicken quesadillas. the drinks were great, and the food pretty good. but what we really liked most was the "vibe" of the place. the interior is funky-fun, sort of like pee wee's playhouse might look like if it were a bar and restaurant. and the wait staff and bartenders were all super. super friendly, super funny to watch and listen to, and not bad to look at, either. prices are about where you would expect them to be,
this is first and foremost a burger/sandwichplacecatering to anyone, but aiming for the glbt "family." the obvious sense of playfulness and sarcasm will go a long way to win the customer over, but the food has to be at least decent to keep them coming back. in this regard hamburger mary's is on track to be a success in the crossroads district.

please patronize other establishments. request to all:

please do not patronize hamburger mary's.

a few months back we were at a hamburger mary's bearbust having a great time. normally we just pay in cash throughout the night, but since we hadn't gone to the atm, the bartenders on the upper patio suggested we open a tab. we did. at the end of the evening, i asked the bartender what our tab was and he said it was $89. when checking our bank account, we noticed that our bill, which was $89 on the receipt i signed plus tip was showing on the account twice (one at $89 and the other at $99)

we waited a day or so to see if the second charge would be removed and it wasn't. we therefore disputed the charge with the bank. it was resolved with the smaller of the two charges being refunded to our account.

today, we were at hamburger mary's. had lunch and was enjoying beers and time with friends on the patio and were approached by the two bartenders from the upper patio who suggested we open a tab. we were told that we were no longer welcomed there due to a "conflict of interest". they said this was at the direction of the manager. after repeated requests, we were never able to talk to the manager directly. in fact, it was almost as if they were trying to avoid having to get the manager.

so, i would urge everyone to check your account statement when using your credit or atm cards at hamburger mary's. particularly upstairs. i originally just chalked this up to some sort of mistake. they happen. but after being approached and "tossed out" by the two bartenders who also were involved with the disputed charge, i fear there may be something more sinister happening. i hope i am wrong, but the situation is really odd to me.

i hope we all may find some otherplaceto enjoy time with friends.

thank you for your support.

hamburger mary's... wow, thisplacewas interesting. there were three of us from out of town and someone from kc who suggested thisplacefor its' unique atmosphere. well, we were in for a treat. there was a table consisting of 10 drag queens right by us and the rest of the clientele were very "happy" (not that there is anything wrong with that).
i tried the pepper jack cheese stuffed fireball burger last night and boy was it tasty. you can read the description in the menu - it did not disappoint. it was a sloppy mess, but it just fit in with the whole motif! i'm going to give this one a good, hard, 8/10.

overpriced, loud, and over the top with the disco theme.like walking into the twilight zone..complete with neon, flashing lights, disco ball, and a bar out of times square.not aplaceto relax or chat.food was good but not worth the price.only thing exceptional about the food was a steak knife sticking out of the burger and a bill stuck in a ruby slipper.unfortunately, this establishment may have a relatively short run....

interesting place...great burger. despite theplacebeing full of marys, they make a mean burger! loved the decor, the all male staff was dam friendly and everyone there seemed to be having a great time. we started with the skinny art dip with pita and split a crab cake slider. the art dip was phenom! maybe they add more cream or something, but it was not the average art dip found at most places. the crab cake "burger" was good, but the pickles and plain bun made it taste more like a chic-fil-a sam. i had the fireball burger and did the sweet potato fries for $1 more. good move!! good size burger, cooked perfectly, and they even get a nice coat of char on the outside to add more flavor..but not too much. burger had excellent flavor. sweet potato fries are very good! much better than the regular fries. we also had a chicken wrap...it was good and huge! the portion sizes are nothing to sneeze at, we needed a box. prices were more than reasonable. the meal ended when we were brought our ticket in a multicolored 6" heel. welcome to the neighborhood mary! we will be back.
