peon on duty on behind bar. when they charge as much per ounce as half and half does for drinks they better begoodand it should come with right attitude from the staff. missing is friendliness, anticipation, suggestions and if you really run agoodbar conversation when asked for. this bar has none of that. nobody wants to pay to get sh**t on. avoid.
as to food the bang for buck quotient is out of balance. either it needs to get better or better priced. oh and my dish of chili relleno's came with two free helpings of toothpicks hidden inside that i almost broke my tooth on. i mention it to another staff member who didn't apologize, said he mention to kitchen and i never heard a peep about it again. apparently, half and half means take your toothpick i mean pick: food or abuse.

this was our third visit to half & half. the first visit, we ordered stuffed french toast for me, and hubby had blueberry pancakes. they were great, and we enjoyed enough to return. the second time, hubby ordered blueberry pancakes again. i ordered shrimp and grits with an over medium egg. hubby's was great again. my shrimp and grits were delicious but the egg was raw. so, we gave them a try again today. i ordered brioche french toast and hubby ordered baked oatmeal with a side of bacon. he said the oatmeal wasn't asgoodas his pancakes breakfasts have been. he states it was tasteless. my french toast was two large slabs of white bread, lightly, and i emphasize lightly, dipped in egg mixture and fried. the egg mix was faintly present on the outsides of the bread and the insides were dry and white. not french toast. it was egg dipped white bread with syrup poured on. when i asked the waitress if this was the way the french toast was supposed to be, she told me yes, that it was always served that way. i asked her to clarify, because we were interested in bringing guests back this weekend and they enjoy french toast. but i didn't think they enjoy egg dipped thick wide bread. she said yes, they don't actually put egg mixture all through the bread. i said thank you for clarifying for me. i ate part of one piece. sent the rest to the garbage. when she brought our check, she had taken 50% of the cost of my french toast off the ticket. so disappointed in the food and service today.

my better half and i tried half & half for breakfast for the first time last weekend and really enjoyed it.  it's a cozy little spot with tables and a high top "community table" in the middle where we sat.  our server was wonderful.  jo had the oatmeal with fruit, which was baked and she said was prettygood(i'm not an oatmeal person).  i had the blt omelet--something new for me and their "lettuce" was a siracha slaw, which was delicious.  this was one of the best omelets i've had.  the roasted potatoes were great and the mimosas were reallygoodtoo.  it's a little pricey, but the quality is really high.  great spot!

i have always been a fan of this place. their almond milk chai tea lattes are out of this world good! however, i noticed that recently they have raised their prices. my husband got blueberry pancakes and they were 9.50. in my opinion just a tad expensive for non expensive ingredients. perhapsgoodcoast has risen but i am a little hesitant to return as often as i have in the past.

ah, half & half .  beloved by so many.  hailed as a brunch to end all brunches.  offering a late morning repast beyond compare.  to all this i say, sure.  it’s pretty good.  is it wait-an-hour-and-a-half good  perhaps for a first time visit, yes.  why not.  for every succeeding visit.  no.  no thank you. ... however, i do love love love the cornbread and chorizo with two eggs–officially my go-to half & half meal. or, pro-tip, if i’m not dining in, i’ll call ahead for a tasty ham biscuit (complete with preserves) to go. then, ham biscuit and i walk to nearby shaw park.

expect a wait. the food wasgoodbut i wouldn't bother going at popular times. we went on a sunday morning and were expecting a bit of a wait. in the end it was an hour and a half from walking in the door to having our food in front of us. personally i think it's terrible management when a lot of that time is sat at the table. having said all of that, my eggs benedict was one of the best i've had so if you can avoid the rush, i'd recommend.

i've only eaten here once, but if a place isgood- i'm usually impressed right away. the service was so-so; the wait staff was polite, but inattentive. the food i ordered was simply okay, though i enjoyed my coffee. the atmosphere was nice once the work crowd left to get back to the office. overall, i'd rather eat elsewhere and i wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

i understand why there seems to be a constant crowd at half & half. the food is very good, bordering on excellent, and the menu is accessible enough that it won't be scaring anyone off... their major flaw is that they are victims of their own success. because of their popularity, wait times will likely be long (depending on when you go). however, in our ever-rushed world, taking some time for agoodmeal among friends is something that should be revered. in that vein i thoroughly enjoyed my experience at half & half and will certainly be back.

horrible service, fantastic food. this was a hard one to rate. the food was fantastic, but it may have been the worst service i've ever received. so bad, it might sway me to never go back.
my neighbor and i like to try and find new places that serve breakfast all day. my husband told me about this place, so we decided to check it out. i brought along my 8 year old stepdaughter. here's a breakdown, minute by minute, of our experience:

11:45 am: enter the restaurant
11:50: finally someone noticed us. her response, "is your name on the list?" not, a hello, can i help you? or have you been helped yet? rude.
12:06: seated
12:08 greeted. ordered 2 coffees, 2 mimosas and a hot chocolate.
12:15: brought the coffee and hot chocolate, forgot that we ordered drinks. did not have cream or sugar on the table. did not offer either when we ordered. we had to ask for it. we ordered our food at this time too.
12:25: mimosas arrived, still no cream or sugar. we asked the server who brought our drinks for it...again.
12:27: cream and sugar arrived by the second server we asked
12:28: our server came back to remind herself what i had ordered.
12:38: food arrived.

i ordered the salmon hash. this was grilled salmon, potatoes and spinach under 2 over easy eggs served in a skillet with toast. it was incredible! and quite filling. i had to take home leftovers too. my friend ordered the half&half, which is 2 eggs, any way, potatoes and toast. she ordered a side of bacon with it. my stepdaughter ordered grilled cheese and chips. all of us were completely satisfied and raved about the food.

i cannot get over the awful service. and the more i think about, the more i am sure that no matter howgoodthe food is, the service will absolutely keep me from ever going back there. too bad. servers are easy to train, there just needs to be a program set in place. i completely blame the management, they need to reevaluate the service standards to meet the same standards that the chef has given to the food. get it together guys. you're not building a spaceship, you're running a restaurant.

everythinggoodyou've heard about this place is true. however, many of the male employees seem to be on some sort of grooming strike, testing the boundary between casual and "oh that's not the food, it's just my hair you're smelling."

worth waiting in line for 20 to 30 min, it is different breakfast you would expect to see, great creativity. the only downside is the french toast, it is too dry and dissapointing, looks like someone just made a regual big size toast with some eggs on each side attached to it.... this one definately needs imporvement, otherwisegoodplace

well... i tried.. after reading this months sauce magazine about donuts around town i tried, twice in fact, to try half and half and thier donuts. the first time i went, granted it was my fault for not checking their hours of operation, but they were closed...on monday. the single most important day for that important first cup of joe and they weren't open. so be it. i went again today, wednesday, and ordered a large coffee and donuts to go. the former apple store employee working the counter walked back to the "kitchen" area and asked if the donuts were ready, and why wouldn't they be it was 8:45am for crying out loud, only to return to tell me they weren't ready and would be probably another half hour. i left with my coffee, which was thin and watery ( i should have just gone to northwest) and i won't bother coming back... two strikes and your out half and half.goodluck to this place which seems to have all kinds of problems.
