finally got to stop by this joint. its a grocery store with cafe. food is average at best. the lamb kebab was well done so it was tough n burnt on some peices. it lacked flavor. rice was tough as it wasn't fresh. disappointing experience.

great little place. i tried the lamb tongue sandwich and it was delicious. the baklava was good too. it's super cheap so it's definitely worth a try when you are hungry.

good place for indian and middle eastern spices- rates are less compared to other indian stores.

tried their gyro, shawarma and bhaklava. loved all 3. bhaklava was my favourite.

will go again to try more!

my wife and i moved out of state a year and a half ago.  we would discuss which restaurants we miss most from phoenix.  while visiting we swung by haji's and decided that if we could have a single restaurant in oregon, this would be it.  the people are friendly, the place isn't pretentious, the prices are moderate, and most of all the food is absolutely amazing.  everything from the rice, to the meat, to their pita (ask for the homemade pita) is all top-class.

we are always interested in middle eastern food, so trying haji-baba was an easy decision.  we lucked out and were seated immediately, since soon there was a line.  my wife ordered the combination combination, a bit of everything.  she was very happy, it was all very good.  i had the kibbi plate, since they sounded interesting with bulgar wheat and pine nuts.   it was very tasty, but needed the generous portion of yogurt salad to provide moisture.  our only knock is the service was a little lacking, but we would still return for another meal.

good meal, good experience. my wife and i ate here twice in our week in phoenix. i had the chicken shewarma plate both times as it was very good. the tabouleh and hummus it came with were also good. i ordered extra pita the second time. my wife had the chicken shewarma sandwich the first time . it was only ok. the second time she had the chicken kebob plate, which was also very good. portions are generous. certainly all i could eat. more than enough for my wife. service was very good both times. a very good value.
the guy at the till could smile.
we will certainly go back when we return.

it was good to see a bunch of americans enjoying their food and supporting the business. i had the gyro and hummus (with some sriracha of course) plate. it was delicious and i enjoyed every bit of it. very good price too!

brilliant. the gyro sandwich and chicken shawarma were great. service was prompt and courteous, and the iced tea was tasty. and the baklava were the best i think i've ever eaten.

i'll definitely be coming back!

amazing mid eastern falafil. i have to say consistently haji-baba never disappoints me. while i can't say i've ventured to try their menu extensively, they have amazing falafil sandwiches at the best prices in town. as a matter of fact, while they offer the best falafil i've had, they are also the cheapest i've ever had as well!

their location is a small restaurant seen when passing on the light rail. outside, there is not much to see, but inside it is a combo restaurant and grocery store, offering your mid-eastern favorites. as a matter of fact, this place is authentic enough, you could order in arabic from most of those in the kitchen and at the counter!

i definitely recommend and wish i could like it more than with one thumb up.

yummy. haji-baba was our first middle eastern restaurant and we really liked it. the food was delicious and the service was kind of slow but it was worth waiting for.
