gullo's fresh produce & bake shop

i give up on trying to go eat there. i have tried three times now. every time i come before their specified time of 4 p.m. closure and every time, i get a stupid excuse as to why they've closed the grill early that day. and what's worse, they are rude about it. "did you not see the sign?" (regarding their small chalkboard with "closed early" scrawled on it hanging inside in the corner). yes, i am seeing it now, but your sign outside says differently. what a waste of my time. won't happen again.

why didn't i know about this place sooner? the bacon cheeseburger & fries were great. the staff was nice & friendly. i also bought fresh veggies to take home & used for dinner. very good. i'll come back & bring my husband next time.

the hamburgers are really good. the fried pies looked great, but we resisted.

they were recently awarded the title of "best burgers in shreveport and bossier" by the 20 x 49 reviewers!!!!!!!

while the fantastic burgers may be the best-known gullo’s specialty, my favorite things on the menu are the fried apple and peach pies. they may be the best fried pies anywhere in louisiana, especially the peach. the shell is crisp and flaky, the inside packed with chunks of peach and a rich, buttery filling.

simple but the best. there is nothing fancy about gullo's; just down home cooking, great burgers and absolutely wonderful produce. if you have been around shreveport for any amount of time you have heard of this place. you can order a burger, get some homemade mayhaw jelly and some casseroles for the week to feed your family. go in there more than once and they know you by name! love this place!

i have found that the food is excellent. the price for the food is very competitive. the food is fresh and yummy! i love the fact i can pick up supper and just go home and heat it up. the plate lunches are more than enough for one person. i can call ahead and it will be ready. the catered food is always hot and ready on time. their customer service is the best. there is always someone to help me carry my items to my care if needed. i would recommend gullo's fresh produce and bake shop to anyone.

the cheeseburgers are still great. i'd read some of the recent, mixed reviews of gullo's on urbanspoon, so i decided to stop in and see for myself how the place was doing. it was my first visit in about a year, and i'm happy to report that the cheeseburgers are still incredible. i sat outside at a picnic table and enjoyed the weather - i can't think of anywhere else where the dining room is literally a grove of pecan trees. the staff, who seemed entirely different since my last visit, were warm and friendly. they offered me a fried pie because my burger took a few minutes, but i didn't accept - a burger cooked to order should take a few minutes.

all in all, i have to say i was thrilled to see that this place has hung in there, and that some of shreveport's best cheeseburgers (if not the best) are still fantastic.

not what it used to be..... i frequently shopped at gullo's when mrs. retha and mr. john were there. the attitude is not what i expected the last few times. the food was bad and the ladies were just plain rude. burgers were fair but fries seemed to be leftovers. baked goods weren't fresh. the place is usually empty, prices are high and the down home feeling is sadly gone.

cush's is a much better choice for the residents of twelve oaks!

fried pies. first homemade-tasting fried peach pies i've had in years. wonderful!

great food, friendly service. can't beat it when comes to southern home cooking. don't forget to grab a sweet on the way out!
