don't bother. no joke, in all seriousness, maccas breakfast was better. and better, less arrogant, less pretentious service to boot.

classic home-style cooking with a twist. we had the fish and the ox tripe. they were delicious. the tripe was almost as good as mum's version. was also impressed with our entree and dessert. ambience and staff is also commendable. as they say in the classics, "i'll be back"

just love this place. never fails to make me feel good. food is traditional and ok but you can't beat the wait staff and general feel and warmth. no other place like it really. love it.

i love this place!. i just love coming here. the service is top notch and the food excellent. always a treat.

the pancakes with ricotta and maple syrup were to die for. i enjoyed it the first time, and really enjoyed it the second time. if there was anything on the menu that i would recommend, it would be the pancakes with ricotta and maple syrup. as you know, i’m not much of a sweet tooth, but i make an exception for this dish as it was relatively sweet from the maple syrup, but with the fresh strawberries, the creaminess of the ricotta along side with the fluffy pancakes it went really well with each other.

went for breakfast, very poor can do better myself. will never get another $ from me.

usually have a good food at cellar bar but tonight my mussels had a weird taste....not sure if it was the sauce or if it was that the mussels weren't fresh.

not impressed. we ate here after not getting a booking in the main restaurant. quite a shame really because we probably won't be back based on the food at the cellar bar.

appalled and traumatised. i was left speachless and upset at how one of the seniour staff treated me and my friend. is it because we were asians or because we were lesbians. i paid the bill and left straight away. will definately not be going back. racist and not gay friendly.

fresh, authentic food and attentive service. a little on the pricy side but a nice treat when you're in town. i tend to take visitors to melbourne here as it's central and reliable. overall i would recommend.

amazing experience. my fiancé and i stumbled upon this cafe whilst on a venture to the city. the wafting smells of sautéed garlic as we passed by made me take a second gander. after a hesitant graze over the menu, i wasn't sure if this place was where i wanted to eat.

it was such a gorgeous afternoon, that we sat outside on their veranda and without a moments wait the server very promptly to take our drink orders. i really wasn't sure if i wanted to have a lunch or breakfast option. but in the mean time - the waiter dropped off some lovely breads and oil.

i ended up deciding upon the calamari in padella. fiance ordered spaghetti alla bolognese. both dishes were out in less than 10 mins! and omg - that must have been the most incredible salad i have ever had!!!

the flavours were sooo complimentary of each other. calamari cooked perfectly with a lovely salad mixed a light vinaigrette. this had to be one of the best dishes i ever had. i also tasted a little spice and was unsure if it had some type of chilli.

the service was what you would expect from a higher class establishment. i don't care to be bothered when i am eating so i don't mind when they arent around every 2 seconds.

fiancés bolognese was a bit average. i felt that it lacked something and that i could make it better at home.

this cafe is a wonderful place to come on a nice afternoon for a glass of wine and delicious food. you may also see guy grossi bustling around the restaurant =)

very good, but...... have eaten at the cellar bar many times and the food has always been of a high standard with the pumpkin ravioli singled out for special mention. however,whilst i understand that aloof waiting staff is part of the schtick, it too often borders on downright rude. 20 minutes without menus or an offer of a drink. when the absence of menus was pointed out, they were thrown at us from a metre away!

i may not be a fancy food critic, but the majority of patrons are normal people like me who like a good meal accompanied by good service.
