fantastic first visit. celebrated with my family here, on 12.27.12. great ambiance, food, and service. since dining with the family, needed to have a good diversity of menu selections to fill everyone's needs...even my dad. he and my son had original “g” spicy po-boy's. think they went a little crazy on the thyme fries.
christopherorderedtsoynamis for everyone. some came with the thyme fries...thus, dad and chris went to town again. my mom, sister, and i had other selections on the menu, and absolutely loved them. we will be back.

slightly better than average. i know the title doesn't sound promising, but that's all i can say for what i ordered. my boyfriend, on the other hand, orderedsomething delicious (i think i ate most of his fries). next time we visit i think i'll stay away from the "curry" as the name was rather misleading. when i think curry, i expect something at least a little brothy (creamy, saucy, etc.), what i got was more like sauteed veggies with some seasoning and plain rice. i do look forward to returning, though, to try out some of their other menu items.

vegan crab puffs!. amazing little hole in the wall vegan restaurant!

went on a tuesday night with a friend and it was packed!

the cashier was very friendly and helpful. their credit card machine wasn't working and she was very apologetic.

started off with the crab puffs and artichoke gratine. so delicious! hard to believe this stuff is all vegan!?!

for the main course, i had mum's meatball po-boy with thyme fries. my friendorderedthe singapore tofu. both were really good! the singapore tofu tasted like thai food.

for dessert, we both had a soynami. they were huge! and very good. they're kinda like the dairy queen blizzard's but made with soy instead.

green is also a great place to people watch. so many different types of people came thru. it was very interesting to see.

i definitely recommend green. even if you're not vegetarian.

vegan in a 1960s bohemian style. vegan restaurants like green are rare in major cities, so i seek them out.

iordereda small spicy peanut salad with (mock) chicken (croquettes). the greens were flavourable, in a mix with crunch. there were dispensers for self-serve drinks beside the counter, so i had the limeade, which was just sweet. i then had the apricot miso main course with (mock) beef on brown rice. the "beef" had a good texture, and the sweetness of the fruit in the dish might have been better if i had just had water instead of the limeade.

next time, i'll try the flatbread pizza (for the vegan cheese!), or one of the vegan burgers. i'm going to have to remember to leave room for a tsoynami dessert.

the restaurant is in a strip mall, and has the atmosphere of a 1960s bohemian coffee house. the industrial grade seating isn't encouraging for lingering, although good timing might snag you the sofas with coffee table behind the piano nook.

food orders are placed at the counter, taking your name so that a server brings the selections to your table. credit cards are accepted. the atmosphere is relaxed, and the works of local artists adorn the walls.

the clientele and staff are young and attractive. my guess is that the restaurant thrives on repeat business. with a good variety of healthy choices, green is high on my list for a casual dinner during the six days of my visit to tempe.

i'll go back. not what i thought it was going to be but i liked it. i was expecting a wait staff but instead you order at the counter. crab puffs were yummy and the taste of the spicy peanut chicken was great but the mock chicken itself left some to be desired. my friendorderedthe flatbread pizza, plain, and really liked it.

take your expectations down a few notches, this place was not intended to be a 5 star establishment. think of the bohemian and you will not be surprised. iorderedthe green burger (actually red) made with oats & other stuff. it was great! i only vegetarian occasionaly, not a lifestyle for, only a flavor, but intend to return more frequently

disappointing. i've been vegan for over 10 years. i've eaten in many restaurants, vegan and otherwise.

never before have i been so disgusted.

giving green the title of "restaurant" is giving it too much class. imo, "diner" would even be a struggle.

1. waited in line 20 minutes to place order.

2. no wait staff.

3. bus your own table.

4. wade through tables of dining patrons to place order. good thing for them i wasn't in the mood to cough or sneeze.

5. decor leaves much to be desired. is this a "restaurant" or the remains of a flooded frat-house basement? unable to find a chair that wasn't ripped in the seat. not sitting on a stained yard sale couch on a splintery plywood riser.

6.orderedfood and noticed kitchen staff did not wear gloves. talked on cordless phone while preparing food, then did not wash hands.

how clean is that phone?

7. place is dirty!

8. appearance of food was disappointing. the vegan pizza i make at home from scratch looks better. why would i pay for a pita smeared with sauce, with 3 leathery, waxy slices of sweating cheese, when the vegan cheese i use at home actually melts?

9. buffalo wings or wads? unidentifiable "wads" of fibrous matter. sauce reeked of vinegar and nothing else.

10. took 2 requests and got a huff in response when staff was asked to wipe the remnants of the last diner's meal off of our rocking table.

after reading the rave reviews online, i was sorry i made the 84 minute drive to reach green. i'm even more sorry i brought people with me. now they have the connotation that being vegan means this is acceptable for an eating establishment.

green's website touts itself like it is comparable with "real" restaurants like millennium. not even close. millennium makes green look like a third world hot dog cart.

i stared at my baskets and plate of food for about 20 minutes while my guests ate. the a/c kicked on and fine particles of something rained down on our table. mold? dust? skin flakes from everyone waiting to order? who knows.

as for the flavors of the food, consistency, texture, etc., i don't know.

my food went untouched, into the trash.

no gloves, particles raining down.............

no thanks! i'm not eating here!

i can spend less and come away with more than a bottle of pellegrino at home.

green needs to focus on being a great restaurant that just happens to be vegan, not be so caught up in being vegan that the restaurant is what it is........a dump.

if you like your restaurants "crunchy", this is the place for you.
