not so good. after reading many good reviews, we dropped in for dinner last night before going to the byrd for a movie. at our table there were three different meals--moussaka, chicken gyro and mahi mahi gyro. none of us liked our food at all! it was all so very salty. my mahi mahi gyro was not edible. the fish had no flavor except for salt. even the french fries, were bad--too salty and the spices didn't taste right on them. i noticed that others had left fries on their plates too. the chicken on the gyro looked and tasted like processed/pressed meat. my husband usually cleans his plate but he disliked the moussaka so much he left a good portion of it. the server gave us free baklava when she saw we hadn't eaten and i told her it was way too salty. we will never return there. i eat frequently at greek grill cafe and stella's and have never had a bad meal at either place. when i read that others say basili's is the best greek food they have ever had i just scratch my head and wonder how in the world that is possible!

i love this place. it's nothing fancy, but the food tastes fresh and good. good pitas, good entrees. try the santorini special if you want something good and delicious (although a little, ok a lot, unhealthy!) ... my only complaint is that a gyro and fries for lunch is $10- it needs to be about $7 for a lunch special...

great gyros. i can always count on basilis to put out a great gyro. they are always hot and filled with a generous serving of meat and toppings. the folks who work here are very friendly. the dining area is always clean and organized. a great place for a quick lunch.

great food, but...... first and foremost, the food is indeed fantastic as everyone proclaims. there is no doubt about this. it is authentic and fresh greek cuisine to be sure, but i did have a major problem with the to go service. i used the menu here off urbanspoon and want everyone to please be advised that every item is about 2 to 3 dollars more expensive than listed, not to mention the menu featured here does not include many great looking current options. i would post a new menu on here, but i lack the facilities at work. when i mentioned this difference to the cashier, a mere shrug was all i got in return. meh. then i get back to work and realized i have no silverware or napkins to work with.

this place is authentic and the best greek food i've ever had. it's smaller so don't bring a huge party. it's perfect for smaller groups and families. you also have the option to get different meats in your gyro. highly recommend!!!

this place is awesome and the best greek food in richmond. very good lamb gyro and solid portions and prices. the eggplant fries were wonderful. finally, the tzatziki is the best i've had in a restaurant. my dad makes a mean tzatziki, but this places makes a comparable house made one too. this is a new favorite.

awesome!. the moussaka is to die for... not wild about the green beans that came with it, but i will definitely go back for moussaka. my husband loved the lamb gyro as well - we'll definitely be returning.

service is mediocre; nothing out of the ordinary. food was decent, price was comparable. salad was not worth 5.00 the lettuce was wilted and tinged with brown. my baklava was soggy and no words can describe the wasted money on that! the tzeki sauce was thicker than what i have exp. in greece or even at a common pizza place.

good, inexpensive greek food, what's not to love? be sure to ask for the sweet potato tots with your meal; sure they aren't very greek, but they're tasty!

great greek food. went here for the first time this weekend. the service was super quick and friendly. the restaurant was clean and had pictures of greece on the walls and tourist books laying around. although we didn't have any it seemed as though they had a decent complimentary wine menu. great pricing too. the food didn't take long at all and it was delicious! i had the lamb gyro and will definitely be returning this week.

great food. easily the best gyro i've had in richmond. i would prefer the feta chese were not an extra cost option but the servings were good and price allowed for the additional charge. the place is not set up well for groups of more than two but the friendly service and well prepared food makes this the place to eat if you have to stand in the corner.

tasty quick-service. i don't like the plastic plates but the food is very tasty. i like it better than crazy greek, greek grill, and athens tavern. most of the restaurants in carytown aren't really my thing, but i definitely see myself coming back to this one regularly.
