my favorite place in chester. romantic, cozy, lovely, warm. food is always great. service can be off sometimes, not bad just not perfect. bar is fabulous place for a drink or to eat as well. love this place!!

best restaurant in connecticut! best bartender on the east coast!. where to begin? the drinks are divine, the food is inspired, and the atmosphere is idyllic! sit at the bar and chat with michael, l&e's fantastic bartender. talented and charming, he can concoct your perfect drink while turning the inviting ambiance of the restaurant into your living room.

the chef is obviously well-schooled yet creative, with the highest standards for ingredients, and care for the diner. as a vegetarian, i truly appreciate how he always presents an excellent palate of flavors, even if there is nothing explicitly vegetarian on the menu.

if you're looking for huge portions or a $300.00 french meal like the former tenants, don't come to restaurant l&e. i live in chester, my wife is a former sous-chef, and we frequent l&e as often as we can.
first, it is a bistro (i.e. a bit noisy); after some suggestions(which linda and everett welcome) the plate sizes are smaller; and i would challenge even the most sophisticated diners to exact the tastes and the methods of taste delivery that everett serves every night.
i would be naive to think that i could close the door to others after the meal or tapas i've eaten there, but i'd like to.

located next to cemetary, not by chance!. we have gone to this restaurant four times in last 5 months. each time trying to find something on the menu that we would like, that is predictable and of a portion that you can eat and enjoy. it is like the chef is playing with you. we had a 3 scallops with 15 peas and no cauliflower puree for $23. ice cream and cake $10 was only a tablespoon of goo! we keep going back thinking that owners will finally come to their sences and make something predictable and enjoyable.

i'll go back there in a heartbeat, based on the promise of one meal. and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to that friend who once sought a romantic getaway.

it is an appetizer only restaurant. i would suggest you eat before you go there.
maybe if you have a half dozen of their $13 appetizers you can get filled up. it is very noisey, so if you want to sweet talk your date - forget it. the fire marshal should take a look at the place too. they have one marked fire exit, and it has a big table in front of it.

l&e restaurant. four of us in a party went to l&e last saturday for the first time. we will certainly return soon. all four of us had very very good meals. all four of us said it was fantastic. we all had four items from the menu and all four were very good. service excellent. some staff left from duvillage. excellent; highly recommended.

when i heard restaurant du village had been sold and the restaurant was becoming something else i was excited for the change, but what came was a major disappointment! the food is just ok .it is cooked properly but there is just no imagination or skill in the menu. as far as the drink list forget it! i got those drinks at a chain restaurant 5 years ago! so my advise would be don't waste your time find something worth it!
