pluses:

1. menu: they have a simple menu of masala dosa, plain dosa, idli coffee, upma and kesari bhaat.coffeeis very good. they also serve south indian thalis for lunch

2. price: reasonable price for the dosas

minuses:

1. dosas are good but not outstanding. not worth the hype. preferred the masala dosa over the plain one. idlis were good.

2. self service: the main dining area is self service, so once you handover the coupon at the food counter you literally have to push and shove around to get your dosa.

3. hygiene: they have this open kitchen and serving counter. the hygiene left a lot to be desired. the food counters were not cleaned properly and the kitchen looked unhygienic.

4. location:a little difficult to locate

final verdict (2/5) would not drive all the way to the other end of town to taste their dosas

a small hotel in mysore, read the reviews and on friends suggestion visited this place. went there for the dosas but loved the khara bath. i felt, the dosas(plain, masala and onion uttappa) were just about ok. there was no 'wow' factor in the taste. i'd rate khara bath higher in taste than the dosas. the chutney was good. they have installed ro purifier for water which is good for a small hotel. thecoffeewas alright. overall, i had something like vb of bangalore in mind which obviously disappoints me. khara bath - thumbs up !

ambience: 3/5
service: na
food: 4/5

this place is known to have a legacy of it's own for serving some real good south indian food. i happened to visit this place on a sunday (late) morning for breakfast, when the restaurant was about to close and i was just in time. the owner/cashier was kind enough to let me order, even though he was very well in his right to deny me service since it was about to close.

the moment you enter, you're supposed to order at the cash counter, pay for the food and take the receipt. you then have to give the receipt to another counter (which generally has a queue) and get your food from there. pretty much self service. although the people cleaning the tables are prompt.

even though the restaurant was nearing the closing time, it was pretty crowded. i had butter masala dosa, acoffeeand gajar halwa. the food was really good and tasted amazing. talking of the prices as per mysore's cost standards, i'd say it's a tad bit costly but the price comes with the name and the experience.

recommended to visit at least once.

typical south indian breakfast joint. self-service and limited seating. gets packed so you might have to stand and eat. standard idli-dose-vada-sambar-bisibelebath fare that you get all over karnataka.
we ordered a masala dose and plain dose. typical crunchy-outside & soft-inside kannada style dosas. extra charge for a dollop of benne on top.
masala dose was tasty, perfectly golden and crunchy. (4/5), but definitely not as good as the spectacular dosa at vinayak mylari.
potato pallya stuffing was tasty and correctly spiced with onions & curry leaves. chutney was outstanding- coconut+chilli and coriander. the sambar was forgettable and not perfectly balanced. it was more sweet than sour.
plain dose (4/5) was also good.
we ended the meal with filtercoffee(3/5)
verdict : pop in and out for a quick delicious breakfast. place is self-service but there is staff to clear tables. cleanliness has scope for improvement. tables were not wiped down well & were very sticky.

overhyped. horrible primary experience, the dosa was over roasted and charred, no red chuthney in masala dosa. green chutney was tasteless. entire dish was made for bp patient.coffeewas blank. the only thing that felt worth eating was upma and kesaribath! the hype my friend gave was so much that i was expecting some good taste and good feel but all i got was the worn down hotel and the unkempt area. the tap of the sink was splashing water across because of the force. all in all, it was exact opposite of fire in the tummy, the slogan proudly displayed on this worst facility. just a few meters down there is a much better place known as apoorva and further on there is mahesh prasad. for 45 rs you will get served charred tasteless dry dosa. beware of the ambiance, because there is literally no ambiance.

hotel location:

located at just a stone’s throw from chamundipuram circle.

about parking:

finding a parking for a two wheeler on this road shall not be a problem, but for a car, plenty of space near the circle.

about restaurant:

i was here on a weekend for eveningcoffeeand snacks.

we had ordered bhel puri, mangalore bhajjis and coffee.

i felt the taste has taken a back seat since my last visit to the same restaurant or could be one of a kind of this. the bhajjis tasted very good since it is made to order and served steaming hot.

i personally felt the service provided in their gtr delite, the service wing in gtr has gone down, no thrust given to the cleanliness of the tables and chairs.

next time would visit this place exclusively for dosa.
