the way things should be.... people forget that restaurants are run by people. although we all have an expectation when we go out for food, rarely do we consider that the place we choose is someones livelyhood, our expectations are totally self serving.gatobizco brings us back to reality. not only is it tasty but its real people, with real contributions to our daily "bread" so to speak. no fuss, no muss just someone's idea of pleasant

i feel immediately more hip when i've had breakfast at thegatobizco cafe. maybe it's the sweet potato pancakes or just the gourmet coffee served hot and fresh. but you don't need sleeve tattooes or a scruffy beard. just bring your appetite.

last weekend steve and i took a trip to see my favorite band the dismemberment plan play a show in atlanta. we had a great time at the show and the next morning went looking for a good brunch place. the first place we tried had a 45 minute wait, and with our time frame to get home, just didn't work. a quick internet search led us to thegatobizco  cafe, which was obviously fate for this cat-loving gal. this place is tiny! there's only a handful of booths and some bar seating. when we arrived i put my name on the list and i was told 15 minutes, which was doable for us. we weren't waiting outside in the sunshine more than five minutes before they seated us at a booth. under-promise and over-deliver is a surefire way to get people to love you. the theme of this place is cats. (gato bizco means the cross-eyed cat in spanish, in case you're wondering). there are cat trinkets and photos of cats everywhere- but not so much that it looks like a hoarder house. as a proud cat mama i wanted to t

great breakfast joint. we got there at 11:45 for a late breakfast on a saturday. the wait was little over 15 minutes (not unusual) for this place. it made me laugh because right across the street there was an hour wait for the flying biscuit. don't get me wrong, fb is good, butgatowins hands down. the eggs are always light and fluffy; when mixed with cheese, they are out of site. we chose to have a couple of breakfast sandwiches - both on biscuits, both with bacon, and both with jack chese. my eggs were over easy and my friends were scrambled. each was out of site. mine was cooked so perfectly that i had to break out the knife and fork. they are huge, and with the liquid from the eggs -there was no way i was picking that thing up. the huevos rancheros are also wonderful.

the service is always friendly as heck and the chef was really sweet. she saw me salivating over some huevos that she had prepared for another customer and offered to change my order for me. i declined, but that's the type of service that sets this place apart from the other breakfast joint across the street. it doesn't hurt that the food is better too! four stars!
