located fifteen miles north of santa fe, just south of pojoaque and within minutes of two garish native american casinos, gabriel’s is a culinary oasis back-dropped by nearby cedar and pine tree laden hills and the santafemountains further to the southeast.  gabriel’s entrance is flanked by unpeeled latillas, a precursor to one of the best restaurant settings in the santafearea.  in the early spring and fall, weather permitting, the sprawling dining room and its spanish colonial theme are often rebuffed in favor of an outdoor dining experience.

utterly the worst meal of my life!!!!. ate there 3 years ago and returned again for a repeat performance. this place has gone down hill big time. server could of cared less if we were there or not, food was the worst i have had in some years. ordered the fish taco's and any cat in their right mind would have not eaten this utter filth of a meal. was totally smelly of rotten fish and had the consistency of runny oatmeal. can you imagine?

disappointment is the best word i can use to describe our experience. never will return to this place again and would encourage readers to continue on into santafeas there are many restaurants that exceed this one starting with mcdonalds!

good decor, solid food, decent service but over-priced. this has a very nice decor and, unlike most restaurants in the santafearea, has placed the tables comfortable distance from each other. the menu is solid southwestern food. the guacamole they are so famous for is indeed fantastic and comes with a table side preparation.

however, given the simplicity of the food, this restaurant is too pricey. that yummy table side guacamole? almost $13 for a serving basically for one. come on, it's guacamole.

i would rave about this restaurant - particularly since we weren't totally ignored as we were by the servers in most santaferestaurants. but it is way too expensive for the food you get.

surprising delight. we received a recommendation to go to gabriel's from an artist we met in taos and we were so glad we listened! the outdoor eating area was gorgeous, the weather was gorgeous, the food was delicious and we never would have found the place without the artist. so if you're in the santafearea, plug gabriel's into your gps and follow it! it's a gem.

we come to santafeevery for the opera and make at least two trips here for the fabulous guacamole made fresh at the table. we highly recommend gabriels.
