gabriel's restaurant

good decor, solid food, decent service but over-priced. this has a very nice decor and, unlike most restaurants in the santa fe area, has placed the tables comfortable distance from each other. the menu is solid southwestern food. the guacamole they are so famous for is indeed fantastic and comes with a table side preparation.

however, given the simplicity of the food, this restaurant is too pricey. that yummy table side guacamole? almost $13 for a serving basically for one. come on, it's guacamole.

i would rave about this restaurant - particularly since we weren't totally ignored as we were by the servers in most santa fe restaurants. but it is way too expensive for the food you get.

nice southwestern cuisine with pleasant outdoor dining. worth a short drive out of town past tesuque. nice outdoor patio dining with a bit of a view and spanish feel. good quality food. chile relleno excellent. tamales tasty. tableside-made guacamole good and a nice touch. various tequillas available. margaritas and sangria enjoyable. overall, very pleasant with standard but well made sw cuisine.

surprising delight. we received a recommendation to go to gabriel's from an artist we met in taos and we were so glad we listened! the outdoor eating area was gorgeous, the weather was gorgeous, the food was delicious and we never would have found the place without the artist. so if you're in the santa fe area, plug gabriel's into your gps and follow it! it's a gem.

excellent guacamole! ok margarita and good, tasty food at a good price. nice location sitting outside. overall thumbs up and would definitely visit again.

it was ok. i expected more after all the raving i'd heard about the place... my dish was ok, little bland (mexican something, sea food, rice and sauce). it could have been spicier and had more oomph to it :) otherwise a cosy place, will give it an other try, for sure.

delish. gabriel's has one of the most scrumptous guac bowls in nm; made right at your tableside. food is great and service is very friendly and attentitive. the margs go great with any meal. must venture to this place if anywhere in the area

we come to santa fe every for the opera and make at least two trips here for the fabulous guacamole made fresh at the table. we highly recommend gabriels.

the guacamole and tamales were good, other than that it wasn't worth the stop.

great carnitas, margaritas and great patio with views. try the guacamole cart.

definately worth the drive. i suggest always sitting on the beautiful patio and requst to be seated as close to the mountain as possible so that you can enjoy the views!

fantastic casual southwestern. this was a great find out in the middle of nowhere, but really just a couple minutes from town, and really close to buffalo thunder. it was probably the closest thing we found to real southwestern food catering to locals at a very reasonable price.

we went twice, and i had the "rellenos de santa fe" (two fresh roasted poblano chiles filled with mesquite grilled chicken, jack cheese and cilantro, served with guacamole, whole beans and corn) that were absolutely fabulous and amazing at that price... fairly spicy, but without overpowering the flavors. on my second trip, i went with the "san diego fish tacos" (two housemade corn tortillas, filled with red snapper and spicy seasonings. served with corn and whole beans). they were fresh and very good, though i was a little disappointed with the "spicy seasonings" that i didn't didn't think was very spicy and left the tacos a little bland.

margaritas (on the rocks, of course) where strong and well balanced and thankfully not over sweet.

as i said, this place is a great find for a casual lunch or dinner.
