i can't stand the thought of giving frankie my hard earned money.  i have known frankie and the rest of the family since 2003.  he sued his own family stemming from the family'srestaurantamigos on belt line which is now run by a different group.  if you want great texmex food then please visit the restaurants in plano and north dallas named casa mama which is operated by the other members of frankie's family.

my friend is white and married to a black man. they went with their son to eat at frankie's mexicanrestaurantin richardson and were refused service because they are a biracial couple. they spoke with the manager who told them that he didn't need their business. they left angry and heartbroken.

after seeing our santa at willow bend we grabbed a bite to eat at frankie’s due to the good reviews on the site.

om: we went for a late lunch, around 2pm on a wednesday, and the place was pretty empty. therestaurantis tucked away from the road and easy to miss if you aren’t looking for it. the food was fine, but everything seemed so forgettable to me, but i will attribute at least some of that to the other memorable things we did throughout the day. any ways, i ordered some chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce, a beef taco, along with the rice and beans. the chips and salsa came first, and while they were fresh, the chips were also very plain and needed a lot of salt. our waitress was kind enough to bring us a free appetizer thing, that looked like a tiny tostada? beans and sour cream, along with some kind of sauce on a chip. they were good! our entrée was delivered shortly after that, and everything was very appetizing. good amount of chicken in the enchilada’s, standard rice and beans were also tasty. their online menu showed dessert, but i don’t recall that being on the menu that we saw. i really don’t know what to think of the overall experience, as it kind of got lost in the shuffle of the day. bland chips, good entrée, standard service, awesome value, free mini-appetizer, menu discrepancies, high expectations. i would not go out of my way to eat here because nothing stood out, but would not be opposed to eating here again if we were in the area.

nom: what a great day for a late lunch!! the place was very empty but not a shocker for 2pm on a wednesday afternoon! it seemed like we drove on the outskirts of a few neighborhoods to get to frankie’s! if you’re looking for it to be right up on the road you will miss this place! walking in it’s a pretty standard mexicanrestaurantfeel, nothing out of the ordinary. don’t get me wrong it was clean and well laid out just nothing that was a stand out. i ordered a cheese enchilada with rice and beans. ummmmmm…ok well it’s hard to mess up cheese enchiladas…but you sure can make them bland. and success! ok, so they were good but average just not something i’d drive out of my way for. the chips were good just not salty enough for me but if you’re on a low sodium diet you’ll be all set! i really liked their rice and beans tho! very tasty, i could have made nachos with them and been very satisfied!! they did send out a free appetizer which i didn’t try but it looked very yummy!! and our waitress was really nice and very helpful! if we’re driving by and hungry i would eat there again…especially if we can go to the ice cream place next door!!

this place is really great! friendly warm service. intimate atmosphere. all the tex-mex basics are well prepared, however, therestaurantreally shines on their specials. i eat here at least once a month. i strongly recommend the victor's enchiladas and the brisket enchiladas. skinny margaritas are also excellent. white queso is really yummy.
