foundation bar kitchen & lounge

have been to foundation numerous times. the platters are always nice, but never seem to have enough bread for all the toppings (which is a shame). i’ve had dinner here once, and was a little disappointed. i had the trio of pork, which was okay but not great and lacked any sort of vegetables. my partner had the ribs and was a little disappointed also. the service is usually all right, but can be hit and miss. barstaffis usually very good, and always lovely. i will continue to go to foundation, as the atmosphere is lovely, it’s great when shopping as it’s in the base, and not too pricey 😊

this place is awesome for a lunch or dinner. it isn't in town and there is heaps of parking.
the last time i went here was for a dinner catch up with a friend. during this night there was a 21st and a rugby game on so needless to say the place was packed and we were lucky to get a table! we ordered our food which was a platter, bread and onion rings to share. some how people that arrived after us managed to get their food before us.. we asked the waiter and our food order was never put through! thestaffand manager were really good about it all and remedied it straight away. the food was amazing and of course i will be back :)

a friend suggested i check this place out and in all honesty really enjoyed it. the place was busy and we didn't have a reservation so sat in the courtyard. thestaffwere really really friendly. they had the rugby on which made the night that much better 👌🏿😁. enjoyed the night. i highly recommend checking this place out.

a great place to dine! the atmosphere is very relaxing yet lively with both a restaurant and bar side. i recommend booking in advance because it gets packed out quickly on weekends. i had the blue cheese fettuccine and it was amazing!!! where else can you get blue cheese pasta?! i rate the pasta 10/10. my friend had the lamb shank and rates it 7/10 (the meat could have been more juicy). a great level of service,staffare very attentive. overall a lovely location for a date night.

recommend, visiting nz and wanted to take my mum out for lunch over the easter holidays, hit the jackpot!!! the fish and chips were wonderful, desserts fantastic and thestaffwere outstanding. yes yes and more yeses

consistently really good. thai chicken salad is by far my favourite although the onion rings and pizzas are good too.staffare always really friendly

we ate here as a group on the 5th of january. in total there was 5 adults and 5 kids. i hate taking my kids out to restaurants, i feel like they ruin everyone's dinning experience. that being said, we chose to sit at a big table outside. i've been here before after someone recommended it to me so, i thought it was a great option for us rather than the food court. the decor is ok, very typical layout, a little crammed in places. thestaffwere good. very friendly, i felt sorry for the young guy serving us due to our brats being a little loud but he handled it well. once again the food was a litlle bit of a let down. we ordered pizzas, fries onion rings and a couple of kids lunches ($100+). i was embarrassed about the food due to my big raving talk that convinced everyone else this was the place to go. the onion rings were so oily and yuck that we didn't eat them (waste of 2×$12), the fries were good but honestly, how do you mess up fries? the pizza (vegetarian, the quack, the tron) were lacking in topping and flavour. i hated the pizza base, it was like cardboard. i feel so mean saying this because i really did appreciate the service but, i think that when you pay $20+ for a pizza that it should be better quality than one from pizza hut. i feel like they were busy and rushed our food (it was probably to get rid of our kids!! i'm over exaggerating, they weren't being monsters considering the wait). would i go here again? don't know. it is the only nice option for dinning at the base but i wasn't that impressed this time around.

consistently disappointing. i keep coming back here in the hope that it will get better but it doesn't. last time i had the lamb, it was dry, tough and tasted "old". i politely told the waiter that i couldn't eat it, and they offered free drinks as a consolation. appreciated but drinks cost absolutely nothing to a bar. then i returned last night with a friend. firstly, waiter was rude and sarcastic. we were asked multiple times if we wanted fries, we said no. then again do we want more to eat with our meal, we said no. then before we had even finished he brought the dessert menu in case we wanted to buy something else. again, no thank you.staffneed to learn not to push the upsell so much. sadly i won't be returning.

went there for a birthday lunch today (9th jan) and had amazing service , friendlystaffand really delicious meals had the seafood chowder and the foundy platter .. def would recommend to anything was my 2nd time there (1st was a work do there at xmas over a yr ago) mums first time she adored it and nothing was a prob for thestaff(even taking home stuff we couldnt finish was all good)

we went to this joint on the spur of the moment and we're pleasantly surprised with a plate if the most yummy ribs. thestaffwere super nice and the ambiance was both comfortable and fun. highly recommended .

have been here a bunch of times and it's great! decent menu options etc.staffare friendly and you don't have to wait too long for your food. i find they don't give you water unless you ask, which i find a bit odd. my only other gripe is that they don't put sugar syrup in their mojitos (lol) but i guess that is pretty minor.
if you're gluten free or dairy free this is the place for you - they have a whole separate menu!
nice chill atmosphere, will most definitely keep returning :)

background information for our reviews: my husband and i (late 30s with 3 young kids) are fortunate enough to have 2 sets of grandparents in town. we both love eating out, so therefore we try to ditch the kids and get out whenever possible. the reviews we write are our (subjective) opinion based on that day’s experience, so obviously can vary greatly depending on staffing/food etc on the particular day. we love a bargain, so use our entertainment book or deal vouchers where possible :)

we headed here after some late night shopping so decided on sharing some starters/nibbles as our 'main'. (had a 25% off entertainment voucher, so that worked well also...) shared the squid (really yum and great value), buffalo wings (also yum, but not enough for the $17), pizza bread, and risotto balls (ah-mazing). food was delicious andstaffattentive. atmosphere was great - fire roaring, however cold breeze kept blowing in from somewhere (and we were sitting inside, not in the outside part).

would definitely return here - and would probably do the same again - shared snacks rather than mains.

my partner and myself dined in a couple of nights ago, the food was amazing, i asked for my dish to be adjusted slightly, and the waiter accepted my change with no hesitation, and who ever cooked it aced it, the music set an awesome atmosphere, and thestaffwere very friendly and polite. will definitely be coming back. cheers guys

good first impression, looked busy so thought we would try it.

ordered 4 mains, 4 drinks and a side of potato skins to start. drinks came out, then potatoes came out. only around 5 mins after food came out we got cutlery and serviettes.

half way through eating potato skins (with our hands), we noticed there was a hair in it...called waitress over to show her. she said that she didn't know how it got there and took it away. came back and said sorry about that very casually, there is another one coming...not something we would want to eat again. but we got over it and got our mains. then one of us went to drink the juice, looked down and there was another hair!!! by this time we were disgusted, waitress came and said she didn't know how it got there and said it wasn't her. also to make matters worse, said it wasn't there when i bought it over...implying ?? we?? did it??

no apology whatsoever...by this time we were completely off our food. another waiter just took the glass and replaced it. not one time did anyone ask "sorry would you like a replacement or anything else you would like"?

basically could not eat any of the mains. we asked for the manager, he never came out to talk to us. waitress instead came back and said no charge for drinks or potatoes, but mains still had to pay for. manager served us at counter, acted initially like nothing was wrong and took no responsibility, eventually gave us 10% discount for food we couldn't even eat - still paid like $80 or so.... thestaffhere need to be retrained to provide acceptable customer service and hygiene!!

would never ever go here again or recommend to anyone!

my husband and i were recommended by friends to try this restaurant out. settings, menu and décor were really nice.staffwere very helpful and friendly. we ordered our food and didn't wait long at all. i had ordered chicken and bacon cabornara and my husband fish & chips. we were impressed with the presentation of both meals but when we started eating the fish and chips were burnt and dry, and the cabornara tasted very old. the bacon was probably reheated and put into the pasta which tasted really horrible. my husband and i politely stood up and left. we have not returned but at some stage would like to give it another try.
