ford's fish shack ashburn

the server we had was very unpleasant and seemed to be annoyed with the fact that we brought our young son. the oysters were good, fish and chips were mediocre.

wrote a review in october 2010 and said the noise was a serious problem. see another reviewer who sai same thing. had lunch there other day and still can't hear; had to yell which made for a bad lunch. have changed vote to don't like. lived here over 7 years, 4th restaurant in same spot, better learn fast as i see the 5th in my rear view window.

very good but.... had dinner there last night. had the calamari for an appetizer and it was some of the best i have had in a very long time. i had fried oysters and wife had crab cakes. the fried oysters were cooked perfect but that was a problem for me but maybe not others. i hate raw oysters so a perfect fried oyster is still undercooked for me. again, my problem, not the cooks. the crab cake was fine but there was a bit too much old bay which got a bit overcooked and blackened but she said it was good even at that. in all i have to give this new place in ashburn a thumbs up.
but, they is some bad news; noise. the place has hardwood floors, bare walls, and a bare metal ceiling. i could not hear my wife or about anything. my head was hurting when we left. pulled the manager aside and we chatted. he said that they were aware of the problem and were working it. some carpet on the floor and some bats on the ceiling should fix it.

about the best seafood in nova. have been too many restaurants that serve seafood, and for the great price point (or any other for that matter) ford's is the best! everything is fresh, from the fish, to the coleslaw, and even the tartar sauce. i believe the only thing that is frozen is the french fries. i have now been going to ford about 2-3 times a week for the past few months and have yet to have a meal that was not exceptional. i used to hate fish taco's and now because of tony and his wonderful spin on fish tacos, i am spoiled and cannot eat them anywhere else. if you only go there one time, the fish tacos are a must! the scallops fall apart with your fork, the shrimp rolls are outstanding, and the corn muffins just don't get any better.

fantastic. thats it.. i can't get enough of the delicious they serve upi here at fords. it's not just that the calamari is tender, the fish is flaky, or that blueberry pie bursts with flavor. the managers are fully involved in ensuring a wonderful experience at every table. the waitstaff is trained to provide upscale, outstanding service, not just waiting tables. atmosphere? family friendly, clean, welcoming ambience.

it's a new, non chain, family owned and operated eatery, and i know it has kinks to work out- i just haven't experienced those kinks.

ford's is destined for success if they continue doing what they started with- fresh, homemade food delivered by an energetic and well trained team, all under the watchful eyes of invloved management. the pass with flying colors!
