first time at flemings. had dinner for the first time at flemings last night.foodwas excellent from start to finish and service was good as well. had the tuna as an appetizer which was very very good and melted in your mouth. i had the 22 oz bone-in ribeye that you could cut with a fork and had great taste, it was a little fatty and there might have been 14 oz of actual meat. my wife had the porcini rubbed filet mignon that was very good as well. we shared the flemings potatoes, they were average. for dessert we split the cheesecake, one of the best i've ever had (topped w/ real whipped cream, vanilla shavings and blueberry sauce). it was ridiculously good. overall everything was very good but also very expensive. not sure the cost equals the meal because a $200 meal better blow my mind. then again, i'm not the type to spend that much on meal typically (we had a gift card this time). for those that enjoy spending money on a good meal you will enjoy this. for those that enjoy a good meal but want to pay much less i'd save your $$ and go somewhere else. i have a hard time justifying that high a cost on one individual meal.

i have to say that i have never received such outstanding service at a restaurant before as i did here. they really went out of their way to be welcoming. it was a celebration dinner and they decorated the table , took a picture of my husband and i (and gave it to us in a little frame), and brought a card and gift of truffles. even the valet came to open our car door despite the fact that we self parked and did not even use valet parking. thefoodand wine were great. a day later i received a thank you email from the restaurant manager. i am so impressed and definitely plan to return here again and again.

when you live in a restaurant mecca like houston, you are never very far from a place to go out to eat. i’m a casual person and i usually go for the more laid back, entertaining venues when i dine out, but i am not opposed to the occasional visit to a place of fine dining. i got my opportunity during a business meeting to visit one such place, and i’m glad i got the opportunity, as it proved an excellent fine dining restaurant. that restaurant is fleming’s prime steakhouse, a chain restaurant with a few locations in the greater houston area.

fleming’s prime steakhouse has all the earmarks of a place of fine dining. they have valet parking and the interior features tablecloth covered seating with nice chairs for that fine dining room feeling. the service is exceptional- the wait staff keeps your glasses full long before they run dry and they constantly check back to make sure you’re being taken care of the way you should be.

for food, fleming’s prime steakhouse prides itself in its ribeye steaks and filet mignon. i had heard many great things about the filet mignon and this is what i ordered when i visited. it was lunch and my appetite wasn’t raging, so i went with the smaller, petite filet. it was juicy and wonderful, prepared exactly the way i requested. it came with a delicious salad as well as two tasty sides, fleming’s potatoes and asparagus. i loved the potatoes the most, but i even liked the asparagus, which says a lot because this is not one of my favorite vegetables. even the bread and butter were well above average and better than what you get in most other restaurants.

if you’re not feeling like beef when you visit, don’t worry- fleming’s prime steakhouse serves other main dishes. next to the beef, they are also known for their seafood, serving such delectable options as king crab legs, sea bass, lobster tails, and salmon. i don’t go for seafood myself, but i could tell by the positive comments from those around me that fleming’s prime steakhouse does, indeed, know a thing or two about the proper preparation offoodfrom the ocean. and if you don’t want seafood either, there are some other choices such as chicken and pork.

for beverages, fleming’s prime steakhouse is known as a wine bar and they do serve a large selection of wines- about 100 to be precise. the beer selection is respectable, too, with about 20 options. and the full service bar is ready to mix up just about any cocktail of your choosing. order what you like until your stomach is nice and full from thefoodand drink, but make sure you leave space for dessert. you don’t want to miss out on the chance to try the new york cheesecake, walnut turtle pie, or one of the other scrumptious meal- enders.

fine dining is not something i do very frequently, but when a business meeting is in the works and fine dining is the selected meeting space, i have no objection to giving things a try. fleming’s prime steakhouse is a fine dining establishment that is definitely worth your time and it easily earns my respect and recommendation. the food, the atmosphere, and the service are all excellent and it easily rates among the better fine dining restaurant chains in the houston area.

thefoodis delicious, service needs improvement. my party was seated on the outside patio. while waiting to get a menu, the manager sat a gentleman next to us and personally took his order. i had been waiting for 15 minutes for the regular menu and our drink order. within 10 minutes, the gentleman next to us had hisfooddelivered, by the manager. meanwhile, i am still waiting for a menu!
i finally went to complain and the manager came and took our order and was very apologetic, but the damage was done. he took care of his friend while we watched, starving...

disappointing and unacceptable. we have been to fleming's a handful of times before and enjoyed it, but our experience tonight was surprisingly disappointing and unacceptable for a restaurant of this caliber.

the service was slow and the waitstaff not as attentive as they have been in the past. we ordered wine, and it arrived promptly (although not chilled properly), but after that it was a good 15 minutes before we even saw our waiter to place our order. when our entrees and desserts arrived, the servers had no idea which plate belonged where. they put the wrong plates in front of the wrong people, they delivered a wrong dessert, and we had to swap our own plates.

the french onion soup was so salty it was inedible. all five of us ordered the soup, took one spoonful, and immediately had to grab our glasses of water. some of us had a couple more spoonfuls, but that was all we could stomach. we could not get rid of the terrible salty taste until our entrees came. i can't imagine a chef had tasted the soup before it was served; it never should have left the kitchen with so much salt. we ordered four steaks and one salmon. the salmon was cooked very nicely, as were the steaks, but the flavoring, in stark contrast to the soup, was relatively bland. the entrees were not bad by any means, but they were far from stellar, and definitely far from the quality offoodwe have been served at this restaurant. the walnut turtle pie was excellent--highly recommended. the carrot cake and the cheesecake, however, were quite mushy, and the icing on the carrot cake was runny.

although i have enjoyed fleming's in the past, i cannot imagine returning after this experience. there are too many good and comparable restaurants in houston to settle for this kind offoodand service.

triple bogie. this is an honest review about flemings steakhouse. i wouldn't believe it unless i had gone through this myself. the wait between drinks appetizers and main course was ridiculous. my wife brought me there for my birthday. i ordered the salmon but got the sword fish instead. when i got myfoodit was okay at best. nothing really stood out. i've gotten much betterfoodfor half the price. the bill was $140. they had one shot to get my business and they lost it. i'm sorry i picked this place

very good food. when the sign reads "prime steakhouse and wine bar" expect to spend a boatload. very goodfoodwith a excellent level of service however. my business associate, who considers himself a wine aficionado, is certainly skilled at picking the most expensive selections. the $ 28.00 glass full proved that!
the scallops were melt-in-your-mouth good and the filet was as good as any i've experienced.

obviously not "family friendly" and not for the faint of heart when presented with the bill. when i win the lotto i plan to visit often.

hell no.. okay. i love to spend money. i love an amazing fine dining experience. but, i think there is a big difference between fine dining and price gauging. this place is god awful expensive! i am sure thefoodis delicious, but i never got past the prices and walked out when i discovered that a piece of meat was $20, and then an extra $10 if i want a side to go with it. thanks, but no thanks.

well worth it. we went to fleming's last month to celebrate a late anniversary and it was a wonderful experience. we had a drink at the bar ahead of time and both my wife's and my drink were perfect. after a short wait, we were seated at a very nice table and our server came over. he was very knowledgable and friendly as well as being attentive. the manager stopped by and we discussed wines briefly. the paid attention to us without being overbearing. thefoodwas wonderful and well worth it. at the end of the meal, we received complimentary champagne and truffles.

just a wonderful experience and we would go back again.

wonderfulfoodand friendly people. the service is always great!
my husband and i go there about 6 times a year and it is wonderful. the seafood tower is fresh and a delight.
one of my husband's favorites is their chipotle mac n cheese. it is to die for.... awesome.
their seafood is equally as good as their steaks.
the bread and spreads are delicious also.
and of course creme brulee. i like it better than angus barn.

solid but not extraordinary. we received a promotion in the mail from flemming's & decided to give the restaurant a try. it was my husband's birthday & it seemed like it would be a nice, upscale experience to make the birthday festive.

first, the good: we found the service excellent. from the moment we were greeted by the professional and friendly hostesses to our waitress and the man who kept our water glasses filled, the flemmings staff struck the right balance of attentiveness and service without being intrusive.

the atmosphere was pleasant: it's a big place & it was busy, so the energy and buzz were nice, but despite the number of diners, the room was not too loud. lighting was dim; décor simple yet classy.

we both wanted to order the seasonal special prix fixe menu ($39 for an appetizer, entrée, and dessert), but we decided that at least one of us should order a steak since that is what flemmings is supposed to do best. so my husband ordered the prix fixe dinner, choosing an autumn salad (mixed greens in a teriyaki-like vinaigrette, with slivered almonds and a toasted slice of bread covered in gorgonzola and bacon); osso buco served on roasted vegetables & risotto; and a dessert which was supposed to be a dark chocolate cheesecake.

i ordered the porcini-rubbed filet mignon and a side of roasted garlic mashed potatoes.

the osso buco was fabulous. this was the clear star of the evening.

which brings me to the bad. first, the filet mignon. ok, to call it "bad" is an overstatement, because it was not bad. but neither was it special or particularly delicious. frankly, my husband creates a more succulent and memorable filet mignon dish. my meat was fine, but i couldn't taste any porcini and the gorgonzola sauce that was served with it was rather meager and did not contribute all that much taste. for $38, the filet mignon at a fancy steakhouse really should have been spectacular.

second, the potatoes were good, but again, for $7.50 for some mashed potatoes, i was expecting something a little more memorable. there was nothing wrong with them, and they were good, but neither was there anything that set them apart from the crowd.

finally, my husband's prix fixe menu came with a dessert (dark chocolate cheesecake) that was not among the usual desserts listed, but i wouldn't have chosen any of the listed desserts otherwise, because none of them sounded that interesting to me. i have commented before on the lack of originality that to many restaurants demonstrate with such ho-hum standards like molten chocolate cake and crème brulée, and sure enough, these were offered. when we declined to order an additional dessert, our waitress asked if we liked carrot cake, and if we might prefer to switch out the chocolate cheesecake with the carrot cake. we eagerly accepted. the cake was good, but really entirely too sweet and rich. i hate to say it, but the cake reminded me of something you get from costco: relying on an overabundance of sugar and a bit mass-produced.

it's not as if we expected this meal to be "light" or diet-worthy, but after the meal, and all night really, we both felt almost sick from the food. i don't think that there was anything wrong with it, or with how it was produced, but we suspect that the dinners must have been much, much richer than we realized; everything cooked with an abundance of butter and cream. as my husband said, part of the enjoyment one gets form a meal is how you feel afterwards, and we both didn't feel all that great.

so, in short, the prices at flemmings are very high, and some of thefoodis good (the osso buco), but the steak was unimpressive, and the desserts unimaginative and equally unimpressive. we might consider going back, but there other places in town with betterfoodand lower prices that we are much more likely to visit first.
