fisher's at orange beach marina - upstairs

we arrived at the dockside this afternoon after the lunch rush was over.  there were very few other tables seated when we arrived.  we ordered drinks and our meals quickly.  the drinks came fairly soon but as we waited (and waited and waited) for our meals, we decided to pass the time by walking down to the harbour. i made a point to let our server know but when we returned from our short stroll, the table was cleared and our drinks, table settings, etc were gone!  more drinks were brought (which the server made a big of saying were on him) which was a good thing because the one drink i had was $10.00 for a bloody mary!  the food took a full hour to arrive and was only partly warm.  we decided to leave and take the food with us as we had waited so long we were late for an appointment.  $50.00 and an hour and half later, we left.  one dry mediocre sandwich, 1 cocktail and three sides. what a disappointment!

the only reason i don't give it a one is that the entrees were pretty good. first i put on reservation to please sit by window if possible. we get there at 5 and we are the only ones in the whole place. so i say as we are being seated could we not sit by window. response we have a rehearsal dinner at 5:45. we get through and leave a little after 6:00. there were maybe three other tables full so no you just bald face lied to me. appetizers were fare. soup of day ok. rather have been downstairs eating. will not be back. no worries about that. if you go it is own your own. you have been warned. now let's go to transformers.

great view, very nice atmosphere, not too crowded, very slow service . ordered appetizer had to ask 3 times, finally got it, waiter said the cook waited till we got the appetizer before he brought the entree, over 1 hour wait! food was cold.

food was okay and he service was very slow on a friday night. don't get the crab claws. they are deep fried bits of crab claws with hardly any crab meat. mostly batter. the shrimp creole was good but portions are small. the shrimp and grits was good but again portion was small. i would look for a different seafood place. we thought it would be good but somewhat disappointed. the setting is nice though.

the atmosphere is wonderful and the decor is very updated. which is why we have given this place several chances but.....the food and service are terrible! the breakfast was cold and tasted terrible! even the coffee was terrible! and for 2 adults and 2 kids it was 95 without tip! we will not be returning!

great place to grab an excellent cocktail. love the atmosphere. relaxed vibe downstsirs, elagant upstairs. didn't have time to eat, but will be back and will update when we eat here. cocktails are tasty.

we dined there on september 16, 2016 and had a awesome meal, the filet, sea scallops and grouper were the best we have experienced. we go to orange beach a couple of times a year and will return. the waitress was knowledgeable and very attentive. the cocktail and wine list was one of the better ones we have experienced. elegant dining without being over the top snobbish.

dockside. nice atmosphere and setting. food quality seems to have decreased some from previous visits. kid friendly. would probably eat here if i was local but so many other choices while on vacation. it's a must eat at if you've never eaten here before but not necessarily an i always eat here on vacation place.

(note: it's apparent that some reviewers have commingled two restaurants at the same location. fisher's dockside, at ground level, is casual and mainstream. fishers upstairs is pricey fine dining. so when reading reviews, make sure it's clear to which restaurant the reviewer is referring.)

as a long-time resident of orange beach, i've been to fisher's dockside several times. two visiting friends and i went there last friday at 7:15 pm. some observations:

- the food has "always" been very good. i've experienced only one occasion otherwise (below). i'm an omnivore, and the vegetable wrap is my absolute favorite.

- the house wines - kenwood i believe - are also very good.

- the diminutive greeter who took our name for seating seemed a tad brusque, dogmatic, and nonchalant.  a hostess refresher course would be advisable.

- the lady who subsequently seated us, victoria, was extremely congenial and professional. this completely abrogated our initial disappointment. i found out later victoria is the manager, which is clearly well-deserved.

- our server, blythe, was friendly, efficient, and helpful. one member of our party (who has enjoyed here several times) disliked their sandwich. that's a first in our experience, and the bill was adjusted accordingly. again, high marks for blythe and fisher's.

- the restaurant was visibly understaffed. the servers were really moving, but clearly need more help when it takes 18 minutes to bring a beer.

- i have brought many out of town guests to fisher's since they first opened, and will continue to do so. there are but five or six restaurants in orange beach that i can highly recommend, and fisher's dockside is one of them.

- an excellent value. keep up the good work.

fisher's upstairs is a nice, pretty restaurant, perfect for a romantic night out. food is pretty, table settings nice. atmosphere is top rate. the food is very nicely presented though i think only average to good in taste. if it's just the two of you, ask for table 75 in the corner - nice table for 2 set aside in the far corner of the restaurant. i think one of the best choices for a nice, romantic dinner in the orange beach/gulf shores area.

a few weeks ago, gulf shores and orange beach tourism invited me along with a few other bloggers to enjoy a girlfriend getaway in beautiful orange beach. this is a sponsored post; all opinions are my own. fisher’s at orange beach marina is a food lover’s restaurant with an absolutely gorgeous setting and a country club feel.

on march 23, 2016, the fort morgan supper club planned to dine at cosmos, despite the fact that they would not make a reservation for the group even a week in advance. since we meet early at 6:00 and it was a wednesday, we showed up on a first come first serve basis only to find out there was a 1.5 hour projected wait. this was unacceptable, so we will visit them next winter when they will take reservations. we switched to fishers upstairs at orange beach marina. when we arrived at 5:40, we were given our requested 6:00 reservation and seated immediately. our server alex, was very professional and attentive. the restaurant is white table cloth quality with beautiful facilities and wonderful ambiance. it is the most upscale dining we have found in orange beach or gulf shores. their menu features a range of entrees including jumbo scallops, filet mignon, specialty seafood dishes, a 2.5 pound whole red snapper, rabbit, swordfish, and more. prices range from $29 to $49, averaging $33, and were alacarte. they offered about a dozen specialty appetizers. we tried the crab cakes and bon secour oysters. both were wonderful. specialty salads averaged $13. desserts averaged $9. see the pictures of those tried with comments on our fort morgan supper club page. there is also a fishers dockside which is more casual with lower prices we are told. we will go there and review it soon. please feel free to visit our page and join us for dinner anytime. we try to visit a new location each week.

such a nice place to dine while vacationing. i've eaten upstairs and down so i'll give a couple of standouts. upstairs they have this super cool shaved squash salad. it's extremely unique and just as tasty. downstairs at dockside the prices are a little more affordable and they have this saltwater margarita that is worth the money and the trip.

great food! always fresh local ingredients. the atmosphere is very elegant coastal chic. lots of great conversation areas outside. one of my faves!!
