my experience. after calling for a 730 reservation and when i called to confirm someone told me i had to be there at 630 . i was very dissappointed because i had to alter my plans and so did the rest of my party f 8. when i arrived i voiced my concerns to a manager and he only apologized and showed us to our table..at this point i wanted to just leave but decided to stay hoping things would get better. it did when the server john came to the table he truly saved the the day not only did he give excellent service he did it with a smile.......it was almost if he knew we needed special attention....thank you john for caring and making me and my guest feel special... ill be back because of you.

i have enjoyed good food and good service over the years at this restaurant; however, this past weekend was one of the worst service experiences i have ever endured. our entrees never even made it to our table before we were forced to leave the restaurant in order to make it to our curtain on time. despite repeated pleas to the staff we had to leave with empty stomachs ( except for the delicious eggs). unfortunately this restaurant has dropped off our list with so many other delicious choices in the downtown memphis restaurant scene where service is consistent

yum!. a friend and i strolled downtown during the beautiful weather last week and stopped here for lunch. we gazed at the menu and quickly discovered the braised short rib grilled cheese. it was pretty much delicious perfection. the wait staff was snobby, but good, the crab cakes were dynamite, and we'll definitely be going back!

not impressed. i got the scallops and they were huge but lacking flavor. overall i had high expectations, but i'll just go back to flight for that.

for the money spent, not really worth it. the food was good, not great and the service was not at all what i expected from this place. drinks went empty often and it was far too noisy. if you go i recommend asking for a seat by the window where it will be much quieter.

awful service, less than mediocre food.. dear public,

i'm writing to describe one of the most disappointing dining experiences i've had in recent memory. i together with my father and a friend went to felecia suzanne's with high expectations. i have been living in memphis for 4 years and since moving here, my father had suggested that we should dine at fss, partially bc he had known her from when she was a child and had been a close friend to her parents in jonesborro, ar many years before. finally, after four years of talking about it, we finally got a chance when we could all be together to eat dinner at fss. you see my father works overseas and is seldom in the us, so finally we were going to get to meet felecia and enjoy a nice dining experience. unfortunately, the experience was a nightmare. the service was lousy (to put it nicely). because, i knew my father was anticipating this dinner, i called early in the day to make reservations, i requested that we meet felecia to the maitre'd, they said it was no problem. throughout the night this theme became the consistency, they'd say they'd do something for you, and when it was time for them to do it, no one would follow through. felecia was visible to us, yet not wanting to be rude we requested our waiter a second time if he could mention to her that we were now there and that we'd like to say hello. that message never made it to felecia. felecia spoke with another group, our table was ignored. soon our waiter started to ignore us, it took more than a half hour before they took our order. they brought us the pre-meal palet appetizers to the table before they even took our order. i made eye contact with the waiter on three separate occassions to say we are ready to make our order and yet he managed to avoid us at all costs. there were three of us at the table we ordered a bottle of wine and were brought 2 wine glasses, we requested another wine glass and waited another 30 minutes to receive it, in between that 30 minutes of waiting for the wine glass we had to ask the bus boy to get us one, it was another 10 minutes after that that we received the wine glass, mind you our table was less than 10 feet from the bar where the wine glasses originated. later my father ordered a martini, again another 20 minute wait. as i tell you this, you may be thinking wow it must have been super busy. absolutely not, we were one of the first to arrive for dinner, and only 7-8 tables were occupied (on a tuesday night). again we made repeated requests to meet felecia, even the manager took note of it and said that he'd make sure that felecia said hello to us. this never happened. finally, we got our food. at this point the evening was not salvageable, the food really wasnt that good. i got the colorado lamb chops, for 33$ and i assume all 33$ were for the meat and potatoes bc zero of it was for the service, it was fair, im not going to rip everything about the restaurant and say it was all bad, but for 33$ a plate, its supposed to taste good and feel good while you are in the restaurant. it did not. my father had a fish dish, pecan crusted fish, mediocre at best. my friend had the chiriso scallops, again they were okay, but not 25$ + okay. by the end of the night, when it was finally time to tell the waiter that the service was unacceptibly poor, were were not met with apologies on how to make it better, we were met with confrontation. as i tell you this, i do want you to keep it in mind that although my father had not seen felecia in more than 20 years, he knew her parents well and considered them to be family friends. the sting of the $250 bill is not what pushed my father of the edge. he could afford to eat there every day for the rest of his retirement and have money left over for us to eat there until we retire. the sting of the $250 meal was attached to the service and lack of respect or lack of decency that one might give to a complete stranger or perhaps an old friend.

i honestly feel bad for my father, he had such high expectations for our dinner tonight, we've literally been talking about going there for 4 years. i could see a sense of pride in his eys, some excitement that this lady from a small town in arkansas had made it big in memphis. he bragged on and on how great of a chef she was from a childhood age, that her mother suzanne (his personal friend) who was also a great cook...i could see him welling up with pride for this woman whom id only met as an infant. .....and then to get piss pour service, followed by mediocre food at $$$ prices, what a huge disappointment..... and when just when you thought it couldnt get worse, it did. on our long drive back to collierville, tn i received a phone call from felecia, this the first attempt of her to reach out and say hello. i didnt pick up bc i was driving, but it was obvious that by the message she left that her intent wasnt to apologize, it was her reaching out to tell us we were not welcome to come back. upon arriving home, we called felecia, and when my father asked if he could say something, while she yelled at him, she said no, and proceeded to curse him while he attempted to offer some clarity on the situation. needless to say, this was a bridge burning event. if felecia had bothered to come out to her floor to say hello she might have seen that her service was extremely slow, not for lack of people there were plenty. when you put your name on a restaurant, everyone in the restaurant should act as if they are felecia suzanne themselves. and by the phone call she had with my father, i guess they do.

so in closing i'll say this. the food is mediocre at best, and and very pricey. the service sucks. mcdonalds has a far better value. felecia would be doing herself a huge favor if she'd truly listen to customer complaints and not take the word of her staff over the customer experience.

this review is based on the experience i had with my loved ones at fss. i will not be returning, and i do not recommend you too.

my father paid for the dinner, they said they'd cover the cost. he refused. it was never about the money. but when you do pay for 5 star you expect 5 star. felecia's phone call to further add insult to injury really really was shocking and completely unacceptible.

mediocre lunch. my coworkers and i were very excited to try out the friday lunch menu at felicia suzanne's. when we arrived, around 11:45, the door was locked. we waited as a waiter spent about 5 minutes trying to unlock the door and finally let us in. we were cordially seated and our drink orders came swiftly. and then the waiting continued. we waited and waited to order, and then waited and waited for food, waited and waited for drink refills, and then waited and waited for our checks.... you get the picture. i wouldn't mind as much if this had been dinner, but weekday lunch service should be somewhat speedy. the restaurant has an automatic gratuity of 20% for parties over 6, so my guess is the waiter didn't care about the service he provided, since he knew he was getting paid no matter what.

and unfortunately the food was only somewhat better than the service. the sliders were extremely greasy (the bottom of the buns were even soggy) and the fries were similarly limp and greasy. when we told the waiter, he said that's how the food is supposed to be. we also ordered the chicken tortilla soup, which i would not recommend. it was basically a luke warm tomato soup with a wedge of lime and a couple soggy tortilla strips. the iced tea tasted like it was leftover from the night before (when we asked for a refill they said they were brewing a fresh batch, but never got the refill).

on the plus side, the quesadilla and the blt were very good, and the crab cakes (balls, actually) were pretty good. not sure if it was worth the price, though. overall, we had a really bad experience, but i am willing to give them another chance, but at dinner only. and i won't go in a large party again, either!

felicia suzanne's was my last stop for downtown dining week , a great grand finale to celebrate the week of my dining extravaganza. i have had heard nothing but fabulous reviews on felicia suzanne's, so i was uber excited to try it out. we got there around 8:45 pm and the place was absolutely packed. (side note: i made reservations 1 1/2 weeks prior, and all they had left was 5pm and 9pm. shows how much in demand this place is.) there was good music flowing from the live jazz band and a festive atmosphere that filled the place. we headed to the bar to get a drink and wait on our table. we were sat pretty quickly. our server, a very nice and polite guy , greeted us quickly. i like how he had the formality of the restaurant in him, but at the same time you could tell he was relaxed and easy going. nothing was forced about it, which i find in a lot of fine dining experiences. basically, he didn't make me uncomfortable like some servers in fine dining can do. (i still have no idea what to

great food...but.. was in memphis for one evening and picked felicia suzanne's based on reviews i saw on urbanspoon. the food was very good but the service was extremely slow. there was a small party at the bar but the rest of the restaurant was maybe half full so the slow service was not warranted. are you reading this review felicia suzzane's? take care of the service and you have a winner but if i come back to memphis i'll try flight!!

well, after reading the reviews we were torn. some people liked it others didn't so we decided to give it a try. and we are certainly glad we did. let's start off by saying the whole staff were extremely friendly made you feel right at home. now on to the the menu, very simple and very descriptive on all the items. we ordered the deviled eggs which were to totally die for. they followed this with a small shot of tortilla soup. then bring on our entrees beef tenderloin w/t asparagus, and a potato cake. pan seared halibut w/t brussel sprouts in a lemon butter sauce. both were very tasteful and cooked perfectly. my wife's beef tenderloin was so tender she could cut it with a butter knife. then our server talked us into the chocolate molten cake with a peppermint patty ice cream which was awesome. we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique dining experience. i was even lucky enough to meet the owner and chef felicia willett which made the end of a wonderful dinner. thanks felicia and we will definitely be back in the near future:)

called a month in advance to make dinner reservations for my wife and i before the symphony. they called to confirm to confirm the reservation and stated such on my voicemail. the day of the date arrived and i had a feeling that something was off so i called the restaurant to let them know we had reservations and were on the way. after 15 or so minutes of the hostess trying to find our reservation, a manager gets on the phone. i immediately recognize this voice as the one on the confirmation voicemail. he says the reservation can't be found and heavily implied it was never made. i offered to trolley up and let him listen to the voicemail he left confirming our reservation. all he said was they were full and could get us in at mcewens. i've never had a more trashy encounter with a "manager" like this before. i thought these were the stuff of urban legend. this restaurant is pure garbage and obviously wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

...i started with the oysters bienville, which combine gulf oysters with a sauté of gulf shrimp and baby shiitake mushrooms from mississippi, a sherry cream sauce, and herb bread crumbs.

great memphis spot. fantastic food. i went a few weeks ago with my family and all of us were considering licking our plates at the end of the meal. the service was super slow, but the chef realized this and sent over a surprise oyster amuse-bouche to make up for it. i had the shrimp and grits which were awesome. possibly the best i have ever had.

my only other complaint is the wine list. they have a fantastic wine list, but no selection of wines by the glass. we had to ask our server and he listed off a few bottles he had that were just open. no description, just "um, we have a pinot grigio and a chardonnay." i'm a young foodie, so good wines by the glass are a must for me.
