when we visited feast , dunderave’s new neighbourhood bistro, it was abuzz with a patronage of girls in sleeveless blouses and well-appointed older couples, all gathering for oysters on a pretty patio bordered by herb-stuffed planters. for starters, avocado and beet fries ($12)—unusual and additive in a crispy light batter—and hearty crab cakes ($21.50). mains are elegant comfort food by chef kayla dhaliwall, like fusilli studded with smoky octopus slices ($24), squash curry with black rice ($22) and fast-food style fried chicken in a batter spiked with paprika and frank’s red hot, served with a flacon of gravy ($22). feast's ambiance comes from reclaimed wood furnishings and a baby-boomer slow-dance soundtrack (prompting a fellow diner to exclaim, “i haven’t heard this song since high-school dances!” with a wistfulness we’ll presumably one day feel for nelly’s “hot in herre”). current off-menu dessert options include crème brulee or a paper bag of cinnamon sugar mini-donuts (no pne re

feast de resistance. what a notable and very welcome addition to the west vancouver dining scene. in every criteria, feast hit the right notes. the ambience is understated, warm and elegant with choices of seating available depending on your mood: patio seating, bar seating, long communal table or smaller intimate tables. service was friendly and helpful but never intrusive. the wine list is wonderfully curated and approachable. but really, it was about the food. i shared the avocado and beet fries, the salt roasted beets, the kale and quinoa salad, the roasted halibut with chickpea salad, and the sockeye salmon with mushroom succotash. honestly, this was my kind of food, high level comfort food of outstanding quality and freshness. i will be be" feasting" on a very regular basis!

west van winner. it won't take long for the foodies to discover this dundarave gem. chef kayla has brought her passion for food to west vancouver. i loved the warm, casual but elegant feel to the room. great variety of dining options on the compact menu which features the best of local ingredients. on my first visit, i loved the avacado and beet fries, huge order of fresh crab cakes along with the halibut entree. don't forget to order a side of the black truffle mac and cheese for your table to share.
