neverending love for seafood, and how can you skip it what you are in a city right next to a river?? here i am having the mild white fish sandwich, the perfect battered fish, crispy in the outside and soft and juicy on the inside.
loved the fact that the food served is really fresh, and omg, their variety of pie is amazing. a must try place of you are in fort myers.

good simple southern breakfast. fast service. pleasant place with plenty of staff on hand. plenty of fmpd customers so it's safe. country fried steak very good as was gravy.
good value so why eat at chain overrun with seasonal residents looking for something for nothing.

the food here is absolutely amazing and the desserts are to die for. make sure you ask for missy she is a great waitress. they have over fifteen vegetables to choose from for your sides and all the entrees are great. you can get the early bird special from four to six

highlights: greens (perfectly cooked, and not over seasoned), sweet potato fries (again- perfectly cooked, not greasy not thin), pickled beets (great balace of pickling and a nice sweet beet), water (soft-mouth feel), and sweet tea (fresh, bright tasting, definitely sweet but not like syrup- perfect!) service was amazing- really- and the place had a very friendly neighborhood feel to it. it is also exceptionally cheap (which really saved this review- who expects homemade everything at less than $10 per plate?)

meh: black eyed peas (bland, but they tend to absorb the taste of salt, so that's understandable), peaches (canned?), mac-n-cheese ('homemade' style you could find in the frozen section of a grocery store, but they chose the tastiest of those. i wouldn't serve it if it was my restaurant, and of course, it's not as good as mama's)

needs a lesson: fried chicken (dry and greasy) and fried green tomatoes (heavily greasy, cooked to mush- i make them all the time, and this is *not* how they should turn out)

out of this world delicious: coconut cream pie (yum! it was too elusive to capture on film: it vanished as quickly as it arrived.)

farmers market restaurant, edison ave., ft. myers, fl., here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat.

folks if you wish to get your tummy filled , have great food and not break you wallet...this is the place.

everyday they have a special.. thursday.... is chicken and dumplings. with 3 sides and roll or muffins.

only $12 bucks..mmmmm good.

i got 1 of each a corn muffin & roll. freshly baked and served hot with real butter

the chix & dumpling are house made... do not expect the meal to be rushed out. grand food takes time...it is simple fare but oohh so good.

sides. green beans with a big chunk of bacon or fatback( look at my photograph)

delish corn fritters .... a southern favorite fried green tomatoes.

when you come here and you must...it is crowded with folks that have not missed too many meals...lol...like me. plus you are sure to find law enforcement personnel with a variety of government workers.

the staff is running around like busy bee's... giving supreme service.

oh yes, do not do, what i did... i failed to leave room for the pies!!!!

if you have not been here...you must bookmark it and go.

but go hungry.

good ole southern fare. i have been searching for good places to eat for 2 years.... i have never heard of this place. they do no advertising except with the sign out front. this place has been here since the 50's. it kinda in middle of no where. just industrial stuff around. when i arrived at 1220 pm on a wednesday the parking lot was full. when i entered there was a crowded & noisy room with a line at the door for seating ...and take out.
it was primary seniors, regular people, political folks and a gaggle of lee co. deputy sheriffs.

the cuisine is southern food.. the corn muffin as good as mine good biscuits fluffy.
so we are talkin stick to the ribs real food. no calories counters here. fried chix, smothered chix, smothered pork chops, prime rib, country ribs. etc.. with 3 side. i had mac & cheese, collard greens, and some of the best restaurant mash potatoes and gravy in recent history.. they listed about 8 sides..

so if you are a real foodie and not a foo foo on décor. seek this place out.

the farmers market restaurant, edison ave, fort myers, fl., here is my 2 cents on the food and chit chat. i went southern style  and got  3 sides with fried chicken with rolls and muffins. omg the rolls were light airy coated with butter. but that did not stop me from adding more butter. corm muffins bursting with corn flavor. best i ever had and more butter goodness...i got the collards greens bit of bacon or pork with some onion . good for the dietary track. the cheesey macaroni & cheese so smooth. the perfectly balance cole slaw. crunchy creamy delightful. and for me a crispy chicken leg/thigh... ( white meat is 50 cents extra)
chit chat... this is the oldest eatery, 1952, in fort myers. at any time you will see a judge or mechanic seated near each other enjoying time honor southern cuisine.   maybe a deacon or a bail bondman. everyone is welcome. oh lets not forget the great dessert, pecan, apple or keylime pie.
plenty of nice servers large parking lot and reasonable prices.
this is a must for tourist local and foodies a like. even the snooty ones from down in naple can enjoy great food at good prices. ( they can save 25 cents a gallon for gas here in lee county)
so enjoy....

the best. i tell everyone i know about this place. i worked years ago at devote infinity/volvo when they first acquired the dealership. a guy named chuck also worked there and turned me on to ham hocks. the reigning cook was miss libby and she was fantastic hope she's. well as of this posting, john nute

very basic. small, local and good service. beautiful desserts displayed. had the smoked ham breakfast with home fries (nicely seasoned and deep fried). not at all pretentious. good basic food.

the real southern deal. simple surroundings and great food at a great price. no wonder that it has been around over 50 years. focus is on the food and care given to the customer. simple breakfast of deep fried (well seasoned) pork chops that were so tender and flavorful along with hot biscuits unfrozen hash browns and two fresh eggs over easy. staff was so accommodating and bathrooms that sparkled. locals and a few visitors were enjoying breakfast with me. next time i am in town i need to get back to try their specials like chicken & dumplings.

serious country cooking! all the food is delicious, although probably not what you would call healthy. they actually have deep fried ribs! all the southern comfort side dishes you could ever want - macaroni and cheese, collards, okra, fried green tomatoes. prices are very reasonable. just don't go there if you are on a diet.

farmer's market - yum!. consistently delicious every single time!!!! you won't leave hungry. on thursday, chicken and dumplings are on special and they come with 2 sides (must get mac & cheese and either collard greens or fried green tomatoes). lunch is served with a cornbread and biscuit basket. omg it's so good - i crave it weekly!!! i stopped in for breakfast yesterday and 3 slices of bacon, fresh biscuits, hashbrowns that accompanied my fresh egg was divine! don't be on a diet and go in here, unless you're on adkins. the place has been around for 50 years and its because they have the best food in town!

great home cooked fair! yeast rolls are "made with love right back there," says my husband while pointing at the kitchen. boys devoured the burger special... the bacon cheeseburger. was huge burger with thick cut pan fried bacon on top. the club sandwich was delicious with ham, bacon, and mayo. country fried steak with brown gravy (was concerned about the brown gravy but it works...). vegetables were yummy... fried okra, collard greens, mashed potatoes, dry lima beans... all yummy. fried green tomatoes were good and french fries okay. highly recommend pie... lemon meringue, chocolate meringue and coconut meringue all out of this world!!! must visit.

make it a must stop. i go to the farmers market restaurant at least once, every time i'm in town. great home cooking. heaping pile of food for little money. all homemade. i really enjoy the great comfort foods. pot roast, chicken fried steak (big) and chicken and dumplings. save room for their homemade pies too. banana cream goes fast, so get there earlier.

awesome local spot. great food and generous portions. price is very reasonable for what you're getting. around $10-12 for dinner plates and less for sandwiches. amazing cornbread (a hard thing to get right) and great rolls. save room for the pie as well, very well done. they used to have a great website but that's disappeared lately...could order online and everything. hopefully it will come back soon. a great place!
