ok, so the enrico biscotti company has to be doing one of the most original things in town. you want to talk about a company that is really starting to make an impact into the, "buy fresh, buy local" campaign. they have teamed up with pasa (pa association for sustainable agriculture) and are hosting events called, "meet the farmers." this event introduces people to the plentiful of local farms and farmers around the pittsburgh area and teaches them the importance of community supported agriculture and the impact it has on local business and the local farms/farmers. all of this while eating outstanding food from the local farms and drinking great beer from the local east end brewery. finally, a company getting it - keep rocking ebc!

love!. my husband and i are planning a trip to pittsburgh just so we can go to enrico! last summer we ate pizza outside and it was just amazing! the atmosphere was so romantic, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the strip and the pizza was out of this world. basil, garlic, yummy! really friendly service. really wish we lived in pittsburgh just so we could eat at enrico more often...

biscotti at it's best. i love to go to enrico's biscotti. their chocolate ravioli is worth the trip by itself. but i am a fan of the different flavors of biscotti too. make a trip there for anything to go with a cup of coffee or tea.

tried there biscotti and made repeated visits after that, not the most amazing biscotti though. once i visited their cafe; i was super hungry and wanted something really quick and omg! a unique place down a little side alleyway off busy strip district market. the aroma of wood-burning brick oven was spread in the entire place. i ordered the rosa sangaweech (sandwich made on their homemade pizza dough, stuffed with roasted red peppers, artichokes, and mozzarella) and i couldn't have asked more heavenly. its been quite a time, but i can distinctively recall the flavor-burst in my mouth! and it was super quick and the server and cook were very friendly!

i attempted to go here for lunch one day. it was very busy, all tables occupied. it's unclear whether they have a host/hostess, or whether you're supposed to seat yourself. either way, nobody greeted me. i left after approximately 10 minutes of standing around and looking confused.

i'm not a fan of biscotti so this is a review of the restaurant tucked behind the storefront. the atmosphere of this place is great, server was attentive, food came out in a timely manner however, both pasta dishes were almost flavorless: penne pasta of the day and fettuccini with red sauce, onions on both dishes were undercooked and again, completely flavorless.

the pittsburgh strip district is the perfect foodie getaway from morgantown. it's just about an hour and a half north and is filled with a ton of little shops - especially ones filled with delicious food. my friend and foodie extraordinaire joel brown was kind enough to help show me the ropes, and we also recruited ann , eternal optimist and adventurer, to join us.  21st street coffee and tea : joel and ann love the lattes from this place. so, of course, i had to get a latte. it was the first stop, so it was nice to get some caffeine bright and early in the morning. i don't drink a lot of coffee, but this one was pretty good. and look how cute that latte art is? 2002 smallman street pittsburgh pa 15222 412-281-0809 21streetcoffee.com peace, love & little donuts: ann required a mini donut, so we squished into this little place. i got a blueberry donut. i know joel says they're made from mix, but i actually enjoyed it. plus i'm not sure i've ever actually had a blueberry donut? tasty. 2018 smallman street pittsburgh, pa 15222 412-489-7693 www.peaceloveandlittledonuts.com the enrico biscotti company: yum! i ordered a white chocolate biscotti from the case, but i saved it until i got home. and it was delicious! i love a good biscotti, and this one hit the spot. 2022 penn avenue pittsburgh pa 15222 412-281-2602 contact: larry lagattuta www.enricobiscotti.com lotus food : i love asian markets! they're confusing and overwhelming, but there is so much to explore! i wanted to get a few frozen things, but since we still had a ways to go, i didn't want anything to go bad. next time. 1649 penn avenue pittsburgh, pa 15222 412-281-3050 wholey's fish market : samples of soup and cider sold me on this place instantly. there are just rows after rows of fresh seafood - anything you could possibly want. fish and scallops and crab and everything i love. remind me to bring a full cooler next time. 1711 penn avenue pittsburgh pa 15222 412-391-3737 contact: robert wholey www.yahoo.com/who

horrid& bland biscotti!!!. i recently purchased four flavors of biscotti and could not taste which one was which. they all tasted the same................no flavor whatsoever. the black pepper biscotti was the only one that had some flavor, but sub-par............... very disappointed. will not return. i will just stay home and make my own from now on.

good food! horrible and expensive homemade wine. we stopped for lunch on 8/26. two of us had some very good sandwiches and 2 had greens and beans which seems to be a pittsburgh dish. the food was very good. but, the homemade wine stinks! the petit syrah was ok. but, very young a coarse. the pinot grigio was awful! i am a winemaker and drink a lot of commercial wine from all over the world. i can truly say that it was awful. then i find out it costs about $7.50 for a small glass. what a ripoff! as i write this review i found that you can bring your own. i wish i had known that. my friend asked if they had beer and the waiter said he could run across the street and get some. why didn't they tell us about getting wine!

i really felt cheated! but, it won't happen again!!!

hidden gem. tucked in the alleyway next to enrico biscotti bakery , the café is easy to pass up as it's not well marked but if you happen to spot it you will be glad you did! the atmosphere i'd describe as rustic-you can see into the kitchen, the walls are brick and filled with pictures, it's very quaint. both of my dining companions ordered the beans and greens-kale,canellini beans, garlic, and olive oil sautéed together-one added a fried egg to it,while the other added both a fried egg and chicken. they both finished the plates raving about it-also saying the rustic bread served with it was delicious too. i ordered the fig jam and mozzarella pizza. while only being a four cut pizza, it was a large four cut pizza but was so tasty i finished the entire thing! the fig jam added a unique sweetness to the pie and the mozzarella used on the pizza was excellent quality. the crust was thin and fluffy-very light. many of the pastas looked good as did some of the sandwiches. this was authentic italian at it's best. the owner was there as well and was very friendly; i can't wait to go back and try some of the other menu items!

i have been back since the original review and can report they have many other delicious menu items and always have great specials! most recently i rad a rabbit ragu that was to die for and a prosciutto, mozzerella, tomato pizza that was excellent! it's usually a wait but never too bad. this is truly a hidden gem in the strip!

lovely. just was in the strip and spied the beautiful alleyway and decided to stop for a coffee and a biscotti. enrico said they had just closed but served us our coffee anyways. such a friendly staff and warm restaurant, we can't wait to go have lunch there! really enjoyed sipping espresso and look forward to return for a meal.

love the bakery, not the lunch.. i have been coming here for biscotti for years. when i used to live in louisville i used to make my friends send me their bakery items, so i was excited to try their lunch. i went here with a friend from vermont and he got there pasta, it was very obviously re-heated under the oven from hours earlier, he only had one bite and didn't even take the rest to go and the staff didn't even ask if there was something wrong. it was completely dry, and tough and had nothing of interest about it. me and my other friend split the pizza sandwich, and for $10 dollars i am not really sure i it was worth it. it was the vegetarian sandwich and it was lacking on vegetables, it was mostly dough. the people sitting behind us allowed their children to play on the floor right next to us and no one said anything as we tripped all over them. i think the bathroom of a place says a lot about it, and i used to live in africa with peace corps and i was scared of the bathroom, and almost got ill from the strong urine stench. i will continue to get my biscotti here, but i think i may only be purchasing the dog biscotti from now on, the whole experience put a bad taste in my mouth.
