empire slice house

definitely planning take out in the future. the food here is quite good, but i've found the staff are completely baffled by the concept of a single woman dining alone. i went out last night to celebrate my birthday and found the entire experience awkward and unpleasant. i had to reiterate multiple times that it was just me, multiple plates were still delivered to my table, and i was rushed through my meal and out the door. i was eating pizza by the slice and had intended to try more than one, but i was pushed out as soon as i'd finished the first one. i left hungry, and while i could have asked for more, as i was paying for all of it, i felt so unwelcome that i didn't want to stay a moment longer than i had to.

since i do very much enjoy the food, i'll simply plan to place a carry out order so i'll be able to eat in the comfort of my own home. it's unfortunate because being able to order pizza by the slice is so convenient for a single person. the garlic knots are especially good, and i've been told they reheat very well. i hope the pizza does the same.

love love love this place best pizza in town. the service is the best in the city. only thing better than the food was our server rory i would go back just to see him. when our daughter wanted apple juice (which they didn't have) he went and bought some from the corner store. who does that? ??! they are really busy but worth the wait.

closest thing to "real pizza" okc has. this place has a cool and casual atomosphere. the beer selection is good and the pizza is good. i have lived in cities known for good pizza and this place is the only one that comes close (besides maybe humble pie in edmond) to being as good. we will be back many times i am sure and i have told maybe people to try it also.

good pizza, quality toppings, however very busy on "live on the plaza" nights. so i've been here a few times, previously i just did the "by the slice" option and tried quite a few different ones. all were good, large generous slices. now, its not made to order like sauced in paseo, however they have a pretty good daily selection of premade by-the-slice pizzas. the times i've went they were very busy during peak times so you get fresh slices. if you show up on non-peak times i could see the individual slices not being as fresh. the toppings are good, the crust and sauce are nothing to write home about but still decent.

if you order a full pizza, you get what is known as an "extra large" size, not sure on the exact dimensions but it is huge. i recently ordered a notorious p.i.g. which has bacon, pepperoni, sausage, capicola, and canadian bacon. it comes with 8 giant slices, same size as you get from the by-the-slice option. this is probably my favorite and i've sampled quite a few of the specials when i just had the slices.

be warned, this place gets very busy when they have the live on the plaza event so dont expect much in the way of service. outside of that the service has always been pretty good when they are not slammed.

i'd probably put this in my top 5 best places in the metro. my other favorites are humble pie in edmond, sauced in paseo, joeys in film row and hideaway (chain).

hands down the best pizza in the metro, empire goes out of their way to actually craft their pies like they were an artform, which is only reinforced by the hip-hop nom de plumes each creation is given. fat slices, unique flavors and a funky vibe all come together to create the ultimate empire state of mind in the heartland. - see more at: http://www.reddirtreport.com/rustys-eats/empire-slice-house-new-hope-pizza-strikes-back-okc#sthash.d7ink8dk.dpuf

tonight was our first time to empire slice house. we had great service and wonderful pizza! we had the notorious pig and the white pizza mca. the mca is rich, and if you love alfredo (and who doesn't) then you should like this pizza. we did half and half...which we were glad we did...since these pizzas are huge!!! 1 -2 slices per person is really enough. the atmosphere is young artsy and trendy so don't expect your grandmas kitchen. overall we had a wonderful evening and will go back for more pizza soon!

back for 2nd time. very crowded, not sure how they were seating people...skipping around. pizza , the pig, was very good. our waiter was good but it could of been because we had our daughter with us. took her to see the plaza area, which is getting very popular.

mehh... enjoyed the stuffed mushrooms, they were wonderful. asked the waiter his opinion about the meatball pizza and his response was "to be honest i have never had it", this answer never sets well with me and tells me the training of wait staff is lacking. i was with two other people and the three of us split a pizza, the size was great, the toppings were great but the crust was a soggy mess in the middle and the sauce was nowhere to be found. i will try empire again and hopefully they will learn as they grow but for now it seems to be more of a place to be seen eating at than a place to go eat a good slice.

not so much.... the appetizer (spinach artichoke dip) was delish but i was left very unimpressed by the pizza. i had a slice of pepperoni and a slice of fungus among us. i ended up leaving around half of the pepperoni slice and just peeling the toppings off of the mushroom slice. if you like pizza with no sauce, then you will probably like this place, but personally, the sauce is a pretty important component.

really good thin crust pizza! not a crispy crust, but very flavorful!! i really like the order by slice option. got the foghorn leghorn and cheese! both were outstanding! very fresh ingredients! very attentive and friendly staff in an eclectic setting. love the posters on the walls! will definitely be back!
