it has been many years since i've been to elfenixbut i remember it being quite good. however we were not very impressed today on this mother's day. i got the fish tacos which were pretty tasty but it looked pretty pitiful with hardly any slaw or fish on them. the brisket tacos were also lacking. the tortilla chips were all broken into small pieces as well. they missed the mark today and i don't feel the need to go back.

what can i say? i love el fenix. i never get a bad meal when i eat here. the chips and salsa are some of the best around. elfenixhas great tasting tex-mex food, and it's hard to go wrong eating here. price is decent, service is good, and they have cloth napkins! i love it when a nice sit-down restaurant doesn't skimp and use paper napkins.

we decided to head to elfenixon independence day eve for dinner. i had never been to any elfenixbefore even though i have lived in the dfw area for 6+ years, while nom had eaten there within the last few months.

om: very happy it wasn't that busy around 6:30pm on a friday night, thought for sure more people would be eating out. the interior was interchangeable with most tex-mex restaurants, and the service is what you would expect - friendly and polite. chips and salsa were probably the best that i've had at any restaurant, as the chips were well salted and salsa was not too hot. our food came out in about 10 minutes with no errors. i had the special mexican dinner, which consisted of one cheese enchilada, two tamales with chili con carne, one meat taco and
one soft cheese taco, with rice and beans. maybe it was just because i haven't had tex-mex in a while, but this food was legit. everything was delicious! the tamales were especially good, next time i might just order 10 of those! i noticed the food was not greasy, cool. the dessert's were great as well, loved the sopapilla and i discovered something called a lemon ice box pie...my goodness, it was perfect for a hot summer day, reminds me of key lime pie only better. great value as well, a little over $25 for a ton of food. take off a half point because there was a fly in the honey container that the waiter did not notice...how can he have not seen this? great food with great value!

nom: spoiler alert...ohhhhhhh i love this place...so expect a skewed review...

elfenixprobably has the best and most plentiful chips and salsa you'll ever experience at a tex-mex restaurant. our waiter was prompt and friendly, also helpful with my questions. i ordered ala cart and had a chicken flauta with rice and beans. one of the things i really like about elfenixis the fact the food comes out hot, hot and fresh. my dinner didn't sit under a heat lamp and i appreciate having to blow on my food to cool it down so i can enjoy it! the flauta was crispy and full of tender white meat chicken that was well seasoned. their beans are very tasty and i love the rice! then i split a lemon ice box pie slice with my handsome love. delicious! not to tart and not to sweet. i love the graham cracker crust! perfect for a warm summer night! i have to admit i didn't expect a fly in the honey...but over all it was a wonderful dinner! i could eat there a few times a week and not get tired of the food!!

cant quit you. i try to find locally owned mexican food that appeals to me more than elfenixbut i just cant. they are spot on with their chips, salsa, and queso. my kids always ask for it by name when we are going out for mexican. they got a good thing and just stick with it. plus the prices arent too bad.
