thank you, daily deal, for introducing me to el basha!!. a friend at work has raved about this place for months but it wasn't until the daily deal offered a coupon for them, did i think of going. boy, am i glad i did!! holy moly, is this good food!
we started off with the baba ganoush, a good sized bowl of perfectly seasoned, slightly smoky eggplant served with soft, warm, thin pita breads that you rip into pieces to dip with. so yummy!!
my husband ordered the falafel platter and i ordered the beef sharwarma combo. his came with a lentil soup that was amazing. slightly spicy, rich flavor, good body. the falafel wrap was generous, minty and definitely fresh. his also came with a room temp potato salad that was out of this world. not overly salted or flavored, very subtle tastes of vinegar and herbs. i kept reaching over the table to snatch a few more bites.
the beef shawarma wrap was a wonderful mix of grilled beef, garlicy sauce and fresh veggies. unfortunately the combo comes with fries and most sat untouched as i was constantly reaching for my husbands potato salad. next time i'll order it as a platter so i get my own!
the baklava was a rolled pastry, dense, sweet and unlike any baklava i've ever had. have to say, i prefer this one of the traditional recipe.
for a strip mall restaurant, i found the decor to be well thought out and very welcoming.
prices were very reasonable, with the total bill, with drinks, about $26. close to the bike path, too. bonus!!
we'll definitely be adding this to our top restaurants in the omaha area!

love the food - hate the tv.. el basha is a great little restaurant and a great value for the money. the food is high quality and always delicious. the food arrives promptly and the staff is friendly. i have sent many friends here. i highly recommend the mezza plate - and here's a strange twist -order a side of fries and dip them in the hummus. awesome.

just one request for el basha - please do not use the tv to entertain your kids. and turn it down. i don't want to listen to a loud tv - especially on the disney channel - while enjoying your delicious food.

often overlooked.. el basha sits on the corner of strip mall, propped up on hill which helps to obscure its presence there. the restaurant is simple. no fancy lighting and scarcely any decor aside from a television tuned the a news channel. the owner and chef hides behind the counter, a wall of rentable hookahs and heating elements where he keeps his shawarmas. the menu is short, but well-mastered. the chicken shawarma, the lentil soup and all the other dishes i've had when going there have been consistently fantastic for good value. there is falafal restaurant in dundee that hipsters would have you think is the greatest falafel restaurant on the planet, but as someone who actually likes quality falafels, i must appeal to everyone's senses and direct them to a real treat on pacific. it's worth the few extra minutes of commute.

el basha. i visited there with a friend a while back. ordered the classic gyro with tzatziki sauce, which was good. it was probably the best version i've ever had (i only have had gyros at 4 places). the roasted flavor was my favorite part, along with the juiciness components of the meat and tomatoes and the crunch of onion. overall, it was a nice lunch meal and was worth the price ($7).

wonderful food!!. food was so good! i will for sure be going back there.

two things....1) are the potatoes that came with the wrap supposed to be cold? (i'm being serious, not sarcastic. i have limited experience with middle eastern food, so i do not know what the norm is.) and 2) please turn the heat up :)

hands down: one of the best felafel's i've ever had. beef shawarma is also delicious, but their baklava is the best i've had in my life.

my go to place for fresh and delicious food. hands down the best restaurant in omaha for its quality and price. el basha never fails. you know it's a good place when the owner is there everyday cooking in the back. i never spend more than $15 for two people with enough to take home and eat later. not only is it cheap and delicious but it's healthy as well. forget all the other falafel/hummus/vegan/health joints, just go straight to el basha.

best hummus ever!. shawarma, kafta, gyros, falafel, taboule, and the best hummus i've ever eaten. run by a nice lebanese man who really knows how to cook. outdoor dining when the weather's nice. great food, great price.
