wow wow wow.

they have a reputation and they we’re definitely up to it!

theplaceis quite busy because of their popularity and i would also absolutely wait in line to eat here. luckily i got a spot easily outside and my order was promptly sorted!

service and staff were fantastic since i walked in and the team definitely knows how to run a busy show!

in about ten minutes the most beautiful vegan buckwheat waffles appeared and i was definitely impressed. the waffles come generously topped with date sauce, waffle crumble, seasonal fruits and vegan salted caramel icecream (which was out of this world 👏).

the taste omg! surreal! there is not even one trung that i could point out here that could be improved - everything was impeccable!

price wasn’t cheap but i think it’s very reasonable for what you get in this meal, definitely!

would absolutely recommend coming here for the service and would suggest not missing out on the best vegan waffle of canberra!

i have only had positive experiences at this beautiful cafe. staff are just lovely, caring and professional. located on the the heart of braddon thisplacehas plenty of street parking down some of the side streets.

love the philosophy of thisplaceand the great selection of food for both breakfast and lunch. today i had the japanese salad bowl and it was delicious! 💕 i also had a popeye smoothie which was fresh and thirst quenching. this may become a regular thing... 😉

thank you! 💕

this is theplaceto be on the weekend. i was lucky to get a table for 3 on a busy sunday. i felt the meal i ordered ‘power bowl’ was tasty (the individual elements) but needed some sort of sauce/dressing to tie the meal together. coffee was great, cannot fault. service was average but i guess it was a full house - can’t expect too much.

great location on a corner in braddon with outdoor seating or indoors by many of the large windows. range of options, although disappointingly breakfast isn't served all day.
i had the matcha shake which was cleansing, but didn't taste like anything in particular. the japanese bowl was colourful and had flavour, but wasn't anything memorable. nevertheless, cannot really fault thisplaceand would return.

cute littleplacewith really nice staff. the menu isn't as extensive as i'd sort of hope for, but all of the options they do have are pretty cool looking with that healthy/whole leaning. tried the 'golden latte' this time around, a turmeric/ginger/cinnamon type concoction on almond milk. what a punch! compared to the lastplacei tried one at that was sort of sweet and boring sadness, would recommend. has quite a spicy kick to it though.

the food is ok, tastes pretty healthy, massive fan of the banana bread. not a fan of the owner, service has been absolutely terrible from her. a few snotty staff members as well. they need to get the chefs involved more with the people. don't let the front of house let theplacedown.

love this place! its great to finally have a healthy spot to go to for breakfast and lunch in braddon. i live and work in braddon so thisplacehas become my local.  i especially love their variety of breakfast salads and the interesting ingredients they put in their meals.  they also have awesome salads which change everyday - i pick mine up in the morning on my way to work...again really interesting combinations that make eating salad for lunch actually fun! eightytwenty may not be everyones cup of tea, but if you're into eating well then this is theplacefor you.

finally! a healthy and tasty alternative!. i have become quite the regular at eighty/twenty food since late last year when a girlfriend suggested i follow them on instagram. now i'm hooked. i try to lead a healthy and balanced lifestyle but always found it so challenging to eat out with friends or grab something on the go. eighty twenty has become my go to for fresh, healthy and nourishing meals that don't leave me feeling unsatisafied. i work in the area so eat here a couple of times a week or grab a salad and a smoothie to take with me. i love that the lunch menu changes (every week i think?) because i'm there so much i appreciate the variety, and i'm absolutely crazy about the green nourish bowl and granola for breakfast. i love coconut yoghurt!! i also love the general vibe here, you see a lot of familiar faces and the staff are lovely to me - they even know my order! also, could never face black coffee until 80/20! i found it too strong and bitter but their coffee is divine! ok enough from me, but thank you 80/20 for filling that healthy void for me! cannot recommend thisplaceenough.

finally! a healthyplaceto eat!!. we went to 80/20 last night for dinner with my husband and 2 young children. i thought "hey, lets start off our health kick by going to a healthy cafe for us all". i was quietly crapping my pants that i would absolutely cringe at the food seeing as it's healthy and not soaked in butter and oils that i was so deliciously use to!
for entree we ordered the oysters and spring rolls ( i think that's what they were called) and they were so refreshing to the palate. my daughter (3years old) even ate a roll!
for main my husband and i ordered the spatchcock and stuffed capsicums and the eye fillet to share between the kids.
wow! the spatchcock was perfectly cooked. i sucked every piece of meat off those bones! i loved the healthy twist of the sides on the dish, it really made me feel i was indulging in something i shouldn't... when in fact it was a healthy alternative to the normal restaurant sides! and those capsicums... just delicious! as i have a european background, stuffed capsicums is in my blood. in saying that, what im use to is also very fatty so i was pleasantly surprised that they still had the key elements but a healthier version! i loved their twist on the foods i love to make them a healthy alternative!
now...the kids.
the eye fillet was cooked to perfection and just carved beautifully on the plate ( well... chopped up in small cubes for the kids). it came with a side of mash sweet potato, brocollini and asparagus. my 3 yr old absolutely inhaled it! and it was so lovely of the owner to make my kids feel comfortable ( we even scored a little hot chocolate as a treat for eating all her dinner!). my one year old however just decided to suck out the juices of every single piece of meat and then eat the mash!
wow ... we survived healthy eating!
but wait! we went for desert.... we had the raw choc slice ( i really can't remember it's name but it tasted like a golden rough!!!) and the raw - what looked like a cheescake but was in fact all these other amazing ingredients. this one tasted so fresh and i am a huge coconut fan so they both went down so well!!
my husband ordered the mousse and ... it was made with avocado ( which i didnt tell him as he hates avocado hahaha!). he ate it to the bottom! it was only then i told him it had avocado and he just didnt get how a dessert that tasted like a chocolate mousse had avocado as its main ingredient!
i am so glad we went as we didnt want to ruin our new year health kick by eating our weight in fat!
i was pleasantly surprised! it is different to what we are use to, but i loved it.
it may not be for everyone as it is very different to the fatty , oily addictive foods. but its a high five from me for now having aplaceto go to and not feel guilty indulging!

the owner was so nice, and i am very grateful for the free hot choc that my daughter got ( out of the blue!). healthy of course :) !
the staff were very polite and i'd definitely go there again in a heart beat.

finally! a healthyplaceto eat!

abysmal - just "shake your head and walk away" bad. they should just pack up and rejoin the public service. seriously. after i phoned later to gently complain (as i couldn't complain in the company i took there) they have kindly offered a replacement meal for free, but i just can't eat there again, because it was clear from the conversation that the managers don't know anything about food. they have their food marked "low dollars" - but charged $19 for a small microwaved yellow capsicum that had had precooked rice stuffed into it. no oven treatment; no juice, no dressing, no flavour. bit of rocket casually chucked onto the side. the manager didn't understand the concept of cooking the rice inside the capsicums, in an oven, wtih olive oil and flavourings, so there ends up being some value and pleasure to the dish. even an amazing stuffed capsicum would not have warranted that $19 for a tiny one. i'd pay $19 in a restaurant for two or three fantastic tiny ones. the side dishes were just as bad. eight bucks for two spears of asparagus and two spears of broccolini that had been dry-charred, next to a small pile of boiled quinoa. no dressing. a further eight or nine bucks for what they described as lettuce "cups" filled with a tofu mixture. no lettuce "cups" - just bits of cos lettuce lying across a side plate, with roughly chopped raw tofu (not marinated, no flavour) and some bean shoots. no dressing. it was inedible. they cannot conceivably have employed trained chefs. maybe they employ their boyfriends in the kitchen or something - who knows. the look and feel of theplaceis totally misleading. looks great; go there for a drink by all means on your way to a restaurant, but don't touch their food!
