just got home from a wonderful meal at dux dine . we were greeted as soon as we walked in the door and taken straight to our table . the restaurant was warm and the atmosphere was alive . i was tipped from a friend of mine to order the calamari entree , followed by the groper with salsa verde on white bean mash , everything was perfect . my partner shared the calamari and had the papadelle pasta with clams , scampi , local fish , parmesan as her main .she described it as one of the best pastas she has had in years . the service was excellent and i could not fault anything apart from being to full for dessert . we will be back !!!

noisy, hot then cold. small portions, long waits and not feeling the love. disappointed is really the sum total of our experience and if this was a step up from the de lux we must have missed that boat. hoped for so much more.

the new dux really disappointed. really pricy for boringly average evening meals, most lunchtime cafes offer a better selection. we had spanopita - awful, and the fish of the day - gunard, cajun style. the fish was lovely but a tiny serving, really overpriced at $29-00.

lovely coffee and lovely beer, but overpriced and underwhelming meals. lovely atmosphere

our visit this last saturday rewarded us with very good food. we had been previously last year and wasn't as impressed. maybe they were 'bedding in' the kitchen staff/wait staff when they opened. very good food and prompt service now.

fish is uniformly excellent. not the cheapest, but fish is fresh. good option of ordering 250ml wine when your table can't decide on a bottle to share. better value than 150ml wine.

recommend what we had. we had the fried squid to start and seafood pasta main. cost for two with wine was $100. ($71 food and $29 for 2 x 250ml wine). filling, fresh and tasty.

adorable and classy atmosphere, good service, enjoyable music. the polenta fries are absolutely to die for, to the point where it overshadows the main! the food is on the steep side but certainly worth it, by my reckoning.

(there is plenty of duck themed decor, you just have to look closely!)

my husband and i were recommended this place....and it held up its own...the food was beautiful, seagood chiwder,battered oysters and mussells with beautiful sauce ....10+++×

we booked for party of 4 at 1pm today, we arrived at 1.05pm and waited 5 minutes to be greeted and then seated at an unset table. the waiter asked if we wanted coffees and explained if we did there would be a long wait. we asked for wine and beer and never saw him again. 20 minutes waiting and we saw no-one, so we left. really disappointed, as we'd all sorted our drinks and food orders. left our table, which was still unset, we were still unattended, unfed and unseen. went to papanui club with no booking and it was awesome, cheaper, great quality and they served and greeted us straightaway.

i went there last week with my friend and i loved the fish and polenta chips! i love the way that the fish was done and it looked healthy and tasty. i am impressed with the option of either having potato chips or polenta fries. i chose the polenta fries as i wanted something different to the usual generic potato chips.
the thing i found funny is that i ordered the silly tart and my friend thought that i insulted the poor waitress.
the silly tart dessert is ok i thought and nothing interesting about it besides the name.
i will definitely come back there again.

i came for lunch by myself and ordered the smoky seafood chowder. it was exceptional and far better than what i have had in new york; paying more than double the price plus tips. for that i will overlook the rather dismal service that i had. when i got it, it was fine, but having to crank my neck and get attention is not something anyone like to do. i was completely forgotten and i ended up walking up to the counter to pay just so i don’t keep waiting and waiting.
i will probably come back and try other things on the menu. it is a shame i could only give it three stars. bravo to the chef and shame to the front of house.

simply superb. i had the best dessert of the year - the dux connection 😁 consisting of a soft oat & raisin cookie covered in fudge sauce with ice-cream! sounds basic but the delivery was sensational. the cuban glazed sole was delicious and nicely washed @down by a local craft beer, ghost dog pale ale. beautiful venue with garden seating or comfy indoors and top notch service make this place a must visit!

on of my favourite restaurants in christchurch- hands down!! i always love coming to dux dine because i know that the drinks will be tasty and the food will be top notch. my go-to food choices are always the "red tofu curry" and the "margherita pizza" however the last time i went i ordered the "pasta of the day" which on the menu said salmon carbonara however the dish i got was actually cod carbonara- it was very tasty but i was still slightly disappointed as i was looking forward to eating some salmon. every person at the table loved their food and we all had a really good dining experience in the semi-outdoor conservatory area of the restaurant, which is really pretty in the evening sunset! the only small problem here would be parking as although they do have their own carpark, there is sometimes not enough room and the roadworks on riccarton road make for a really inconvenient parking experience - @gastrogeeny

my current favourite seafood restaurant. aromatic mussels is a must try. polenta fries are also yummy!! they also make really nice americano coffee. good hangout place for friends get together

extremely nice and helpful service. ordered the prawn pizza and it was delicious! after reading reviews and the menu online, we were really excited to try the seafood pasta but unfortunately they didn't sell it anymore. nevertheless, great atmosphere and good food. the food took a while to come out, but i assume that's because they were hosting an 18th at the same time.

i love the decor of this place! it's so beautiful, especially in the evenings. the service is always great and i enjoy that this place is mostly seafood, vegetarian and vegan options.

this was one of the worst dining experiences i have ever had. firstly, they hadn't arranged enough seating for our table of about 20 to sit and already had all the other tables booked so everyone was forced to cramp in uncomfortably and closely together. secondly, i couldn't afford both the main and dessert on the set menu for our table because i'm a student and have little money at the moment ($52 per person at the table) so i asked if i could just have a main.  the manager then refused, got pissed and told me no because "how were they suppose to make money" (despite having a whole table of 20 people paying the full price),  he then made the suggestion that i ask everyone at my table to "pitch in" to buy my dessert, which is not only incredibly embarrassing to do, but also made me feel worse for not being able to pay for my meal. i then eventually left the restaurant in tears told the manager i was leaving cause i really couldn't afford what they were asking. he  then responded with a blunt "that's cool" as i walked out. definitely would not recommend this restaurant to anyone that enjoys great customer service.
