be sure to try more than the sushi. fisrt time i went here i just got the sushi. after a few more times i learned that there is so much more to the menu. some of my favorites are the dare devil, sate beef vermicelli noodles, phonix tataki, curry pork and lemon grass, and the basil shrimp and straw mushrooms. there is so much more that i need to try but from what i have had so far i really enjoy this place!

mmmm.... i went here yesterday with some friends, the food is great, but the service leaves a bit to be desired. i had sate beef vermicelli noodles, eel sushi, and some crab sushi. it's all very wonderful tasting, and very different.

the service really leaves alot to be desired though. the waitress seemed more concerned about reading her book(harry potter i think) that serving us. i had to wait about 10 minutes to get her to refill my empty glass, and we had to get her attention when we needed her check. it was very slow... so that was kinda disappointing.

off the mark. this place was better before the owners combined a separate japanese & vietnamese operation, next door to each other. the japanese side was the least desirable & the sushi is still overpriced & lacks the wider choices of larger sushi establishments in the area. also, the sushi chefs aren't japanese, a common happening in baton rouge. other japanese items are just so-so, but, it's difficult to find real japanese home cooking in a town that thinks sushi or robata style food are the only things eaten in japan. the vietnamese selections are somewhat better, tho there are some really authentic vietnamese eateries with better variety & less expensive prices on the eastern edge of ebr parish. also, the last time i was at drunken fish, the service was awful. the young woman serving me didn't seem to know the menu very well & i had a lot of trouble attempting to communicate my desires for certain authentic items of this cuisine. it may be close to lsu, but the drive out florida blvd. will provide one with a more satisfying experience for indo-chinese eats.

in the very competitive space of sushi and its related goodies this one lands there in the middle somewhere.

nothing bad and nothing over the top. nice that they have mochi.

one of the best things about this place is that there’s so many types of food to pick from. my favorite by far is the pho, but the sushi is good too. would recommend trying their special rolls.

stopped for takeout. i have an evening class and stopped by here since i pass it everyday. i got the beef pho and a spicy shrimp dish. i could smell the curry and lemongrass when she handed me my order. having never been there, the girl at the front counter explained a lot of the menu to me and made suggestions. i watched another waitress take care of others and was very helpful. everything was clean, staff was pleasant, and i had no issues with service. my husband and i both enjoyed our dishes and are anxious to go back and try more.

vegetarian menu is not vegetarian. i ordered from the vegetarian section of the menu, and my server informed me that the vegetarian items contain chicken broth. apparently the owners know vegetarians don't eat chicken, but because they "don't agree" with being vegetarian they put it in there anyway and lie to the customers about it. wtf! if i hadn't been with a group i would have walked out. never going there again.

sad excuse for viet/jap cuisine. first things first, if you think you're getting authentic or even quality cuisine here, you are dead wrong.

the restaurant owner is an old vietnamese guy who has no actual training in the art of sushi. he only makes his sushi to emulate the typical "american" sushi by using extremely unhealthy and cheap ingredients and overprices them. don't even bother with the vietnamese food because the vietnamese chefs somehow screws this up as well. the pho is bland and they don't provide you the freedom of flavoring your food yourself. instead, they give you an unbalanced plate of dried or old vegetables and a dab of condiments. lastly, service is horrible as they hire waiters/waitresses who are ignorant in the food service industry and lack decent work ethics. in fact, the entire staff is lacking in this department. i've gotten warm sushi because the waitress didn't bother to even check my order and the chef didn't even call out that the order was ready. my pho came out cold and my order of egg rolls were fried beyond crisp. and somehow, even the egg rolls came out cold.

if you're looking for a good place to eat japanese/vietnamese cuisine at an affordable price, commit seppuku if you're even considering going to this place. i'd advise you diners (current and future) to find two separate restaurants that specialize in those cuisines. it'll save you the stomach ache and any negative feelings you may have for asian restaurants.

if you like the menu to be manipulated and the chef to laugh when you question the integrity then you'll love it here. the waitress was polite. that was it.

average sushi & friendly service. the fish was fresh for the most part but nothing on the menu really caught my eye. for a place called the "drunken fish" i was expecting a fun atmosphere but it felt more like i just stepped into an upgraded fast food restaurant with tacky decor. however, not the worst sushi place i've been to.

love this place!. i absolutely loved this place! i came here with some friends and we got all sushi rolls. we go to college at lsu so it was a great location because it was not a far drive at all! its a nice little place that is locally owned by a vietnamese family so everything is special made from them and its all very unique, unlike chain restaurants. the prices were great for how much sushi you get in a special roll and they were really good for the regular rolls too! we got some rolls fried and some raw. the fried ones were still so warm when they got to the table, and the raw ones were so fresh! which can be hard to find around here sometimes. the edamame and miso soup were amazing too! the servers were all really nice girls when we went who helped us pick rolls based on what we said we each liked and they were in college too so they were friendly and waited on us great! even the chefs and hostess seemed really nice! the environment is calm and relaxing. you can dress up for it or you don't have to!
all in all, this place is by far my favorite place i've found to enjoy a really really good sushi dinner with some great friends!!!!!!

the restaurant itself is nice. the staff friendly, service is good, and the place seems clean. the sushi are just as they are at any decent american-style sushi place. fine, but nothing spectacular.

it's not just a sushi place, but also carries vietnamese menu items. one of my favorite things in the world is pho, so the rest of this review focuses primarily on exactly that.

the drunken fish's pho is meh. the broth's flavor is good and it comes very hot, so that's nice. there's nothing worse than being served luke warm pho, so they got that part right. but they are stingy with the meat and waaay too generous with the noodles. every time i end up with a soggy mess of rice noddles left in the bowl after all the broth is finished (and long after the last of the meat is finished). the last few times my bean sprouts did not seem all that fresh and crisp either. finally, they offer only beef/meatball or chicken pho and other traditional ingredients like soft tendon etc and not available. overall, i have to say that it does hit the spot and is decent pho, but the only reason why i keep eating it here is because the drunken fish is really the only place close to where i live, where you can get pho at all. so if you have a craving for pho and you have the time, take the drive to viet garden way out on florida. but in a pinch, this will do.

fantastic. this is my favorite place to get sushi in baton rouge. their baked salmon appetizer is out of this world and i've never tasted a sushi roll that i didn't like. the prices are very reasonable and it's the perfect place for quiet dining.
