dragonfly mondays!. my wife and i are foodies and we love good sushi. wedecidedto try out dragon fly on a monday because that is usually when fresh fish is delivered. we started out with an appetizer of edamame (which was lightly salted). it came out warm and was very nice. then we also both shared a miso. wedecidedto get our palates going with two orders of sashimi (yellow tail, and then the eel). the yellow tail was nicely proportioned, and the eel was sweet and succulent. we then ordered the dancing monkey roll, which was a revelation with the mango; and the year of the dragon roll. this place is good! imaginative rolls, fresh fish, and we will be back.

great fusion!. went out last weekend for a buddy's celebratory dinner (high five on the promotion, john!) and was really stoked that hedecidedupon dragonfly. first of all, this place is great for large parties - spacious, great ambiance, and an extensive menu which is great for all those picky people that inevitably show up in large get togethers. ok, ok... i am one of those picky people!

shockingly, i was the only vegetarian and while the majority of the party gorged on pork dumplings (apparently delicious) i had most of the spring rolls and edamame. i know it seems impossible to screw up edamame, but let me tell you... some places manage to screw it up! luckily dragonfly pulled through with perfectly al dente soybeans. yum.

the group shared everything from 9-spice shrimp to mongolian beef to a huge samurai ribeye, but the biggest hit appeared to be something called the "happy pig, drunken shrimp" though whether that is because the entree was to die for or whether those slightly inebriated cohorts liked repeating the name, i don't know. the plate left empty, so i assume it tasted as good as it sounded. and yes, inebriation occurred on site, thanks to the lovely and creative cocktail menu ($25 pitcher, sweet!). highly recommend the vampire margarita. seriously, it was amazing.

suffice to say, i will be back

loved it!. we were looking for a new restaurant to try anddecidedon the recently opened dragonfly based on recommendations from friends. the dragon statue anchoring the outdoor dining patio is quite amusing ("hey i'm a giant dragon so this place must be asian"). ordered the pomegranate martini (delicious), crab wontons (mildly spicy with a lot of crab), dragonfish sushi roll (also very good, but a bit large to fit in my mouth in one bite), the chilean sea bass (a little sweet, a little salty, flaky and moist - just perfect), and "mochi" ice cream (not for me, but my husband loved them - different flavors of ice cream and chocolate stuffed inside dough). definitely worth a second try... we'll be back!
