downie street burgers

great place!. this is one of my favorite places to eat in stratford.

theburgersare a carnivore's dream! :) well prepared, well seasoned and i've yet to find one of their specialtyburgersi disliked.

would also recommend peppercorn steak, the chili and the poutine!

so to the poster below...what exactly is a "union burger"?

bestburgersin stratford!! my mom and i just went out for lunch, and our experience at downie streetburgerswas perfect. great service and even better food.burgerswere cooked to perfection with lots of toppings, great flavour and fresh bun. it is easy to tell that the ingredients used are all fresh and high quality.

will definitely be back soon - 10/10 recommend!

excellent food! theburgersare juicy and very tasty. love the avocadoburgers& sweet potato fries with chipotle dip. the services is good. the prices are fair for the fresh, quality food that you receive.

had a great time there!. my family and i visited downie streetburgerson october 28th, 2012 after seeing a show at the avon theatre across the street. the service was great, the food was excellent and the price reasonable. we'll go there again.

good food, so-so service. super tasty and creativeburgersmade with care. my husband and i both enjoyed our meals. our only complaint was that the service was pretty erratic. drink orders were wrong for us- everything else was good, but i could see many other tables sending food back as it wasn't what they ordered.

yummy. uhhhh-mazing!!!! my husband and i went to downie streetburgerson a date night after walking by it several times and smelling the incredible aromas! let's just say we returned a second time in the same week. both times we had outstanding service from the same young waiter and the food and presentation was incredible. i recommend everyone trying the onion rings as they were the best i have ever tasted. i told my husband you know when it's a good restaurant when you have entered even left and all you can talk about is reviewing this joint online and recommending it to everyone. my husband and i have only ate at their outdoor seating area so i have no idea what the inside looks like, but we loved watching the stratford life while we ate.

still the best place!. dropped in for another visit and it's still the best place for greatburgersin stratford. had the bison burger special and really enjoyed the flavours. great poutine also btw.

great burgers. my husband and i have eaten there twice and i have gone there with my daughter and grandchildren. the staff there were very friendly even after my grandson accidentally spilled something all over the table and floor getting into his seat. theburgerswere delicious, hot and very tasty and the fries were done to perfection. i will recommend downie streetburgersto all my friends and family.

a great discovery!. we found downie streetburgersby chance (we weren't able to get into the 'fancier' restaurants after the show) and we're glad we did! they have something for everyone, even the picky eaters. we had a bacon cheeseburger, a plain burger, the 'athens' burger, and the poutine. the service was great, and the food was outstanding! we'll definitely eat there the next time we go to stratford.

could not even eat there- allergy alert!. my sister has a serious peanut allergy but we still manage to eat out at least twice a week and have never had a problem. in fact, we have eaten at most of the restaurants in stratford and have never had a problem.

we decided to try downie streetburgersbefore a play at the avon. all the other restaurants in the area were packed so we were happy to see that there were numerous tables available (should have been our first clue not to eat there). after sitting down and chatting for a while i noticed on the second page of the menu in small letters that they cook in peanut oil. i called the waitress over to inquire if they had other alternatives and she nonchalantly indicated to me that they didn't and could not even guarantee theirburgerswould not come in contact with the oil. she even tried to say that my sister might be all right eating the oil because the heat cooked off most of the allergens- this is completely false and my sister would have died.

we have never had such a negative experience at a restaurant before. the few restaurants that do use peanut oil always have an alternative for those with allergies, and are always able to guarantee other items on their menu.

we ended up having to leave because they were so unaccommodating to my sisters allergy. thanks goodness fosters inn next door was able to squeeze us in, so we were able to have lunch before the play!
