very disappointing experience. there is no one to greet you at either side of the entrances and one is not sure must you go inside to ask for a table, just go and sit at a table or how it works, or anyone asking if you had made a booking and lead you to your table. weeventuallyafter standing around the outside restaurant area went indoors. no one greeted us there either. flagged a waiter down and waseventuallyseated. after about 15 minutes we got up and reached for the menus ourselves as none were offered to us. after another 15 minutes weeventuallyhad to flag down a waiter ourselves to take our order. the inside where we sat was very dirty, our table was not wiped and still dirty from the previous people. there were also food lying on the floor where our feet are supposed to go. definitely not the best spot in the house although i made a booking. weeventuallygot a table on the patio which was a much better spot than sitting inside as the toilet seems to be a hell of a busy place and sitting right next to it was annoying. the toilet doors also have no key/lock for one to lock it so i actually had someone barging in while i was in the loo plus it was unisex which i don’t mind but then give me a key to lock the door please.
not sure what the smoking rules are as people were basically smoking anywhere and everywhere. i feel that as a non-smoker with a child with, there must be some rules in place where people are allowed to smoke as there is nothing i find more annoying than people smoking around my child and me having to inhale smoke while i eat. the place did state that it was a child friendly restaurant so i don’t feel ‘smoking rules’ are too much to ask.
the food – i had the oxtail which was drenched in oil and did not look very appealing. one of my oxtail pieces also still had the ox’s hair on it (quite a big piece of skin and hair) and i was put off completely. the vegetables in the oxtail sucked up all the oil of the oxtail and were overcooked. i even found that one of the baby potatoes in my dish was rotten on the one side. i left all my food after that. also, could not eat the salad that came with it. the 3 teeny tiny cocktail tomatoes were squishy. the 2 wafer thin cucumber slices looked dried out and the lettuce had also seen better days. there was no dressing, no lemon, olive oil or balsamic offered with the salad. from that whole dish i basically had the slice of bread that came with it. the waitress did not care to ask me why i had left all my food. the only time we basically saw her is when our glasses were empty and she wanted to know if we wanted a top up. no questions about the food or if it was enjoyable or anything like that. my husband had the lamb curry, he said it was okay. my son did not enjoy the chocolate mousse and for a 10 year old to push back desert you must know it was bad. i had a taste and there was nothing chocolaty about it. obvious very low grade chocolate was used to make it. the pizza my son had was actually delicious flavour once you scrape off the low grade ham used.
it is a pity as although the place was packed the other patrons seemed to be on very good behaviour (sometimes these places always have a few bad apples that have one to many) and it was actually quite peaceful. the food was just very, very disappointing. i am not convinced that they use good quality ingredients. wont be back.
