friendly pub vibe with throw-back music and some cold drinks. makes for a comfortable dining and drinking experience.
we attended a private function on the deck and the catering was done very well. loved the coffee station idea. we were well taken care of by staff.

we discovered bosvelder by accident as we were looking for a place to wind down after a long day at the office. caught completely off guard, this is now our favorite spot and visit a few times a week. i have never experienced food, drinks and service like that. portions are more than enough and the meat is well prepared. we have never had a bad meal or experience. service is also some of the best we have ever had. wait staff like candice, kayla and gerhard always ensure that the glasses are full and we are having a great time. wonderful vibe, friendly staff and excellent food with a menu that will fit everyone's taste. well done, keep up the good work!

never had a bad meal or experience here. service was excellent today. we opted for the bottomless ribs special (r119!), and found them delicious and fall of the bone tender. wine list is unfortunatly extremely limited, so rather opt for an alternative drink. portions in general are quite large and excellent value for money. menu is quite large and will cater for most palates. decor and ambience is very rustic and leads to a bit of a casual pub like feel, but the qaulity of food is far better. a place to visit with a group of friends for a great night out

tasty food in generous portions. some old favourites - lamb curry in a potjie, exactly the way izak likes it and some with a contemporary twist like the mealie pap fingers - spiced pap, crumbed and deep fried with a monkey gland sauce.
for dessert i had sago pudding. comfort food at it's best.

lekker eg afrikaanse kuierkos in groot porsies. skaapstertjies was nie beskikbaar nie, sal dit graag wou bestel. wie gaan saam met my skaapkop eet? -moet vooraf bespreek word!

ok! i have never been to a restaurant like this. properly prepared, old skool afrikaans food and fest! walking up to the restaurant from parking the car, the aroumas from the griller smell like old skool sa! try this one! drive from anywhere! looking for proper afrikaans cuisine and fest! this place is an f’ng time warp! in all the right ways!

menu on app should be updated. food are a bit pricey, but the big portions made up for it.

we had my wifes 30th birthday here the food was excellent the meat is tender and well cooked not a single bite was over cooked. for any one looking for a pud/resturant where you can enjoy a traditional dining experience this is the place

the milkshake is the best in the world! it is excellent! good traditional south african fare and fantastic service. generous portion sizes as well

bosvelder is a very nice atmosphere were you can enjoy your food and it is good for party places the food is so good and the outstanding thing about the food is there burgers

we were in the area and i saw this restaurant on zomato and thought why not?  the menu is quite old school and also interesting, have not seen quite a few dishes like that on any menu in jhb.  our waitress was odd, when ordered in afrikaans she didn’t make out half of the dishes and when we switched to english the same thing? she was clearly afrikaans herself, perhaps she  did not know the menu.  we had starters and mains and we were there more or less and hour and 45 minutes.  so it is definitely not a quick bite to eat place.  we sat in the non smoking area which was empty so we did not get the ‘full vibe’ of the restaurant as such.  the décor is very dark and typical pub like décor.  i cant say if it is a clean place or not as there was not very much lightning as the rugby was about to start and the big screen was on.  we had the snails, which were overcooked.  i had the crumbed pork chop which would have been a lot better if they seasoned it before hand.  the mash and spinach were good.  my husband had the chilly steak and boy did his mouth burn, he liked it. they can work a bit on the gravy that comes with the pap, it has very little flavour.  we did not stay for deserts as we were tired after almost 2 hours wait.  i think i will be back again as all and all the experience was okay, but this will have to be a day where we have a good few hours to kill and take some friends along. not quite sure how they have a rating of 4 as to me that means top notch.

great food, great service, well priced, informal vibe with ample parking, great for after work drinks or family dinner. no thrills no fuss just fantastic value!

such a great restaurant. the menu is excellent and provides a variety of the finest south african "boerekos" dishes. had the pleasure to dine at die bosvelder with family and friends a few times. will definitely recommend to anyone who appreciate good food.

good old south african afrikaans traditional foods. th steaks are good and great flavored ribs. they have daily specials from ribs to burger nights! be sure to try.. personal favourite is the skilpaadtjies dish - and no, it’s not eating tortoises ;)

great atmosphere, and gets really busy. the menu is full of traditional south african dishes. skilpaadjies, bobotie, afval, marrow bones - and the more usual steaks and burgers. started with the skilpaadjies, and then had a really good mutton curry as a main, and the rest of the table had burgers and steaks.
