deedee's

deedee's is a vegetarian restaurant located close to santa clara university. my visit today was for lunch and the only option they had was the lunch buffet. thefoodis good and except for a few items, largely the taste was great and satisfying. the cost was $11 for the buffet.

items on the buffet: tea, roti/parata, pakoda, samosa, potato-capsicum fry, cabbage-potato sabji,  masoor dhaal, black chenna stew, kofta curry, white rice, pulao, dahi vada, kadi, moong dal halwa, custard, pickles, salad, chutneys. 

given the low cost for unlimited food, it tasted great. the kofta curry was an exception and it had taste of preservatives.

service 4/5 (it is a buffet so nothing to rate for service. however, they always kept refilling the different dishes whenever it came close to getting over.

don't go for carryout. new to area, love indian food. placed order for pick up, it was not ready when i came to get it. had to explain what exactly was needed: saag paneer and aloo gobi, both of which were too dificult for them to create so we got something similar that did not quite hit the spot. the server packed up thefoodto go. i asked where is the rice? he said oh you want rice. since when does indianfoodnot come with rice! not at all satisfied. would not recomend carryout from this place!

my friends and i visited deedee's on a weekend when they were serving the rajsthani thali.

being a marvadi myself, i was expecting authentic rajasthanifoodwhich wasn't the case. but having said that, thefoodin general was pretty good. definitely reminded me of a simple, home cooked meal without being super oily or heavy on masalas.

the buffet spread was nice on the whole - with a lot of hits and a few misses. the bhel, alu matar and mixed vegetable were really good and i took second helpings for all of them. the dal lacked a little salt and the gatta kadhi was a little sour. but the piping hot chapatis and the delicious shrikhand were the best part of the meal for me.

the service was fine and the ambiance was very basic with just the bare necessities in place.

overall, complete value for money!

the delectablefoodis as close to home cooking as it gets. great authentic choices complete with freshly cooked dishes. i love this place - now if only it was all guilt-free calories .. lol!

woooooooooooowwwww!!!! after sooo many days real indian food! thefoodis just perfect , not too much hot or tasteless. a great buffet ! always crowded , please go with time in your hand . a must try !
