dark horse

we stopped in for lunch, and we’re not disappointed! we had fish and chips, and the bbq pulled pork sandwich. both were really great! 10/10 would come back!

my wife and i were discriminated against for being from the south. we sat at the bar and got out our ids. we ordered cocktails and showed our identification to the bar tender who then walks off with out saying a word. he was gone for over ten minutes with out saying anything to us at all. then their bar manager walked up telling us our ids dont add up and we needed some other identification if we wanted them back. as i was pulling out my credit card to prove who i was i told him we wanted them back so we could leave and he told us "thats not how this is gonna go". i showed him my debit card but he insisted on taking it and i wouldn't let him have it since he already had one piece of my property held hostage. he copped a bigger attitude and tried to threaten me with calling the police to which i gladly agreed. at this time he told us we needed to wait by the front door with even more un warranted attitude while he sorted it out with the cops. they left us standing out side and had their door guy come check on us every five minutes like we were some kind of threat. the door guy ignored me several times while trying to ask if they had gotten through to boulder pd. we were calling the police as well to make sure it was being done in a timely manner since their lack of motivation led to me wanting to leave in the first place. the line was busy so we wanted to know if they had gotten through so we could get off the line sonothers cpuld get through faster. the manager and staff were very unprofessional and pretentious. i have been to bars all over this country and never encountered a bar manager so thirsty to be in charge of something. nor have i ever had my id scrutinized in such an unprofessional way. then once the police arrive the manager tries to make a spectacle with the officer saying that we were aggressive and asking if they needed to go off and have a talk. it was very childish. dark horse needs much better staff. very disappointed. one star is too much.

the dark horse is one of the places you need to check out for at least a beer if you're in boulder.  no table service (order at the window and they'll call out your name when your food is ready), cheap drinks, and all sorts of chotchkies literally everywhere.  this place is a lot of fun if you're looking for something away from the pearl street scene.  they have bingo nights, trike nights, a couple of pool tables and a number of dart boards.  they also have a huge projector in the back that's usually always televising an important football, baseball, basketball or hockey game.

ah, the dark horse. i come here when i wanna avoid the shenanigans of the pearl street mall. it's a place steeped in history, with reasonable drinks and live music. the burgers are cheap and very tasty. it's off the beaten path, but it's a solid choice for a night out in boulder.

sexually harassed. sure the joke is on my for reading the bathroom sign and entering the same door. stupid me didn't see the "joke" hands on the door pointing you to the opposite door. after been stared at & mocked by the male employee i left in tears. to add insult to injury the food we had ordered (that we changed to a to go order after the bathroom incident) was inedible.

best burgers in town, solid drink specials almost every night. there is always something fun going on at the dark horse. self service everything, eat & drink on your own time; weather your in a hurry, or coming to hangout & relax with the regulars, this place is far from you avearge bar.

the gentlemen i am travelling with is a harley davidson fan to say the least. for this reason he knew about the dark horse before we got to boulder. i ordered the blues burger, which was fantastic. it was a bacon burger with blue cheese chunks. after finishing my burger i had a beverage on the patio while i enjoyed the awesome mountain view. this place is tucked away behind a grocery store, but it is worth the effort to find the front door.

classic dive join. i grow up in boulder and this was the place to bring out of town guess. off the beaten path, great place for drinks after school, work, ball game and you have to be okay with clutter. must try the jiffy burger, awesome.

dive-iest dive bar ever. ew. guess i am getting old, but a clean place with table service is why i like to go out. the place is kinda gross, and i've been in boulder for 10 yrs + and never heard or saw it before recently trying it. food is accecptable, but i don't think i will be going back. why don't they have table service?

it's a candidate. ambience sucks. crowded tables and college crowd is of course loud. no table service. however, great bbq pork sandwich and great choice of beers and they make a delicious albeit small margarita makes this rewarding when school is out for the summer.

good, dive bar. packed with character and random objects. good place to get a beer and see a show.
