complex and creative flavors. before i talk about the food, i want to mention that the setting is beautiful. i love wood and the entire place has beautiful wood forms with lovely grains and stains in various colors that are simply gorgeous. it is definitely not your typical atmosphere, in a good way.
i guess this would be the definition of a fusion restaurant, since the dishes are llisted on themenuby the global region that inspired them, but it's the subtle flavor combinations that blew me away. i travel a lot for work and regularly eat at restaurants that i don't know much about except the user reviews i read. this is one of the few that surpassed my expectations and it did so by a large margin. i was astonished by the flavors and would go back in a second if it weren't 10 hours from where i live.
i got the wild mushrood triangles from the "inspired by europe"menuas an appetizer. not only was the filling delicious and the pastry flaky and tender, the horseradish suace was amazing. it was my favorite dish of the evening.
i had the shrimp gnocchi (also "inspired by europe") for my main dish and also shared my girlfriend's gnocchi de la mama. the gnocchi was housemade, light and flavorful. it went well with the shrimp, but was delicious with the pesto. my girlfriend's favorite dish is gnocchi, so we eat it often, and this was among the best we have had. i highly recommend daniel's.
