post-prohibition love. this bar, located discreetly in the oxford hotel, is a wonderful throwback to the post-prohibition era. it opened the moment prohibition ended, and the beautiful, original decor remains. despite the yuppie crowds who tend to frequent the place, you will still feel as though you have traveled back through time to a whole different era.
the bartenders are extremely professional, bowties included, and they mix wonderful classical cocktails. if you ask for a martini, you will get a martini - not some ridiculous liqueur-laden caricature of the original. they also serve scrumptious appetizers from the mccormick's kitchen located right next door.
if you can get past the irritating yuppie hordes that flood this bar from time to time, you can truly savor a slice of the past in its finest form. i recommend this bar to anyone seeking a nostalgic yet refreshingly current drinking and dining experience against which all others may be compared.
