cristina's fine mexican restaurant

i don't know what some people are ordering, but everything i have tried here has been fantastic. consistent excellent service and wonderful food. best tex-mex in the area.

solid. went to cristina's for dinner this wk on tues evening. was seated promptly, brought chips and salsa quickly.

got a swirl margarita, which was nice and potent. thumbs up.

had a cup of tortilla soup which was good, then for the main course it was pescado benito.

the main course...large portion of grilled tilapia piled on plate, covered with a tasty combo of sauteed spinach and mushroom. served with other sauteed vegetables (carrots, squash, with a sprinkling of corn and black beans as well). a second side plate of rice, charro beans, tomatoes and avocados. it was very tasty and very filling.

one drink, cup of soup and a main course ran $28 tt&l, but the food quality was definitely in the range to make it meet its value.

overall the service was good. waiter for the most part was attentive and hustling. he brought me another table's bill at the end, but that was not a hiccup of substance.

will definitely be back to cristina's. i got there at 6:30, and it's a good thing. i was seated immediately. had i arrived at 7:15 there would have been a wait, which is indicative that cristina's has a good thing going.

p.s. the bar area is extremely small. as in microscopic. don't go to cristina's with any size group if you plan to hang around the bar for cocktails. there are maybe 6-7 seats, and a dividing wall close behind them which partitions the bar from the main dining room. people were sardined in there like...well, sardines. literally. just a heads up in case you're thinking group or cocktails.

cold nachos, bad taco meat.... my dad and i decided to eat lunch here one afternoon. the atmosphere was nice at first, but then the drinks took a while. we decided to order beef fajita nachos for an appetizer and they were cold so we sent them back. then we each ordered a lunch special and my dad had a beef taco and some avocado soup. the taco meat smelled rank! i mean...like really old rotten meat. so they brought him an enchilada instead. overall, not too happy with our food. price is too high for the food to be less than mediocre.

consistently good tex-mex food. service is always good. extremely fast during lunch hour! our family really enjoys cristina's table side guacamole. definitely recommend this restaurant.

the food is very good. however, it has become less than a family environment. was there this evening and a teenage girl was seated wearing a shirt that displayed a vulgar saying on it (included the word "f*ck" in all caps about 6" high). we alerted the manager and he did nothing. also spoke to the hostess and she acknowledged seeing it and thought it was funny. we've been coming here for 8 years. tonight was our last visit. the manager made his choice. now, so do we. i'm no prude but i don't have to put up with garbage like that in our neighborhood establishments.

great salsa! best i've ever tasted! lots of onion and cilantro, if you like that sort of thing! my husband and i ordered the fajita special, mine was chicken and his beef. i've had fajitas a lot of places, and to me, they were just ok. i didn't care for the flavor and a bit on the rubbery side. husband said the beef was ok but not tender. service was fine. no complaints there. all in all, loved the salsa but it's not enough to make me go back.

best mexican i've ever had. my husband and i are from little rock, ar and we travel to flower mound every year to visit family and we always eat here. good quality mexican food where we come from is few and far between. this place is fantastic. everything from the salsa to the quesadillas. seriously delicious quality food.

best burrito ever. we started off intending to go to blue goose but they had an hour wait so we decided to try cristina's and i'm glad we did. the ej jimador carnitas burrito that i ordered was awesome, so full of flavor. my husband who is super picky loved the beef enchilladas. we had a group of 6 and did have a bit or a seating snafu due to less than observant hostess staff but other than that our visit was great. the service was not the quickest but the food was really good and very reasonably priced.

inconsistent!!!! the first review i gave was terrible, the second and third showed improvement, but today we are back to square one. waited for 5 minutes to be greeted by hostess, but not before 2 other pushy parties were able to cut in front because he had no idea who was who and who was rude! took forever to get chips and salsa and poor waitress was inundated with multiple requests from needy tables with no back up or help! she did get the order correct and was great about checking back in for drink refills, etc so the evening did get better thanks to macie, but no thanks to anyone else. where is the teamwork that i have seen in the past? where was the manager? people were complaining about to ranch dressing being to thick and these were the stupid requests that macie was having to deal with as this table ordered additional drinks and shots. ugh. i'm sorry macie that you had to deal with all this... will i give this place another chance? i'm not sure...

great for my tex-mex fix.. my wife and i love going out here. it is noisy and always busy, but we don;t mind that so much. to have a great time there follow these simple plan.
1 - if you can handle a little heat, ask for the hot salsa, made from serrano chilies it is part of what i love about this place and i add a little to everything i eat.

2 - get a giant fish bowl margarita. you can also get "lite" drinks, the skinny marg, or the mojitos made with agave syrup.

3 - get soem brisket taco's or quesadilla.

now your done sit back and enjoy.

great. interesting restaurant with good food and attentive service.

i stopped in for lunch and while i was there cristina's filled up with folks clearly out looking for a great meal.

for those that know ... cristina's leans more towards texmex than mexican. many of the negative comments refer to mexican food. i enjoyed my brisket taco and the sour cream chicken enchilada was tasty as well.

i'm glad i stopped in. as others have said, there is a fair amount of competition in the area. cristina's attracted me for any number of reasons, not the least of which is it is not a chain. why go to a bland chain restaurant that has devised a menu that will sell across the board when you can get something that somebody put their heart into?

stop in and enjoy if you find yourself in the northern burgs. it isn't lower greenville, but it was good.

food and service. poor service poor food quality, long time to get food and then cold. staff was disrespectful and managers as well many other mexican restaurants in the area that exceed by far over this horrible place of business

worst mexican food i have ever had. its really sad b/c you want to like this place! it kid friendly and well there are really no other places to eat in the area but wow its horrible!! the chips were so oily and their beans tasted like bacon grease. i ordered a chicken taco salad and the chicken had cartlidge and bones and the guacamole was definitely not fresh. el dorado needs some better restaurants!!!

average. not bad,not steller. kids like it.. it's close to the house and we do like it. but there's lots of competition. not as bar like as blue goose so we can take the kids on a night, but blue goose has better fajita's.  the brisket tacos are my favorite menu item.

cristinas. haven't tried this branch of the chain. i have enjoyed the 2 branches i have tried, one in murphy (very nicely decorated) and the one in wylie. food always pleased.
