they've changed since opening the new store. i have been buying doughnuts from country style since 2000 when i started working out in new kent.
i have raved to anyone about how good their product was.

was
since opening the new store, their quality has taken a hit. i thought it was just at the new store but we have been to the old several more times and the quality is poor.

the lemon glazed are misshapen (not even close to being round as they used to be) and the glaze does not cover the entire doughnut as it did.

not to mention the price hike. the old store had just gone to $8.99 and then the jumped another buck to 9.99 when the new store opened.

going to country style used to be a treat but now it's like going to kk or dd.

couldn't believe these donuts were only $1 a piece (it sucks at sugar shack when i get a half dozen and it costs like $7.50)

the peanut donut is a gem, the perfect candybar-donut hybrid (but not too sweet)

enjoyed the blueberry cake donut and the powdered custard-filled

this place is no frills, country patrons sitting at the counter and a country dude took my order. it wasn't new and shiny, but seemed cleaned. and it wasn't filled with hipsters.
went at 8pm on a sunday and they had more than 20 items to choose from

i usually go to sugar shack weekly, but i'm going to have to start making excuses to go the east end so i can swing by csd (sam's club is close enough right?)

i became donut jaded..... having worked as a baker for dunkin donuts for a few years, making upwards of 3500 donuts and munchkins a night, created a special hatred in my soul for donuts..... until today it has been at least 2 years since i had one... i recently moved back to richmond, and passed the country style donut store frequently, remembering growing up on these specific donuts... such good memories... i then started to obsess over them, lust for them actually, and today, after finishing my very last class of college i went and rewarded myself with a dozen donuts... i waited to eat one until i got home and safely hid them and myself in my room with a handful of napkins and a big glass of milk and rather ceremoniously undulged in my first donut in years and my first good one since childhood..... these are the freshest, most moist decadent donuts i have ever experienced. as i write this i am lustfully learing at the box which is down to 10.... seriously.... get over there and get these donuts!

you are seriously missing out if your wife doesn't ask you for some country style donuts from time to time. this 24 hour place has something truly special. i can't get enough of their glazed lemon filled, apple crumb, boston creme, or any of their cake style donuts. one night i went by at 2:00am, and the lemon filled donuts were still warm. i almost died and went to heaven right there. thanks to country style, i've eaten more donuts in my four years in richmond than in my entire life elsewhere. i got to get me some right now! oh wait... they are closed on monday.

no more wasting my time. who cares how good the product is if they don't have any product? the shelves have been empty just about every time i've gone there; i'm not driving 25 miles each way for a choice of glazed donuts or glazed donut holes

awesome. my wife and i came to richmond for our anniversary. yep 24 years. first time away overnight since having kids 15 years ago. we stayed at the west end. i had read about country style donuts in a magazine or somewhere. after a day of richmond, belle island, etc. we where heading back to our hotel in the west end. we remembered the donut shop and with gps directions made our way there. i admit we where a little leary of the location as the sun was setting. but once inside the smells, friendly staff put us at ease. the donut selection was great. my wife got a coffee roll the size of a hubcap. i liked the country donuts. i liked the way each donut wasn't perfectly uniform in shape. reminded me of the cininimon and sugar ones my mom would make in the kitchen on snow days.every donut was delicious. no complains. my wife and i always like the little places that are nostalgic and off the mainstream radar. this is well worth the trip.plus we won't be waiting for just anniversaries to stop in. i know people preach change is good, but in this case, i hope they stay the same. wish them the best of luck. rhett and pam

good & bad. if you want a great yeast doughnut, go here. if you want a good apple fritter or long john, go here. the blueberry chip and chocolate cake glazed have gotten chewy and dense as of late; almost like the batter is over mixed. all the filled doughnuts are really good but they don't fill them as full as they used to and i've been getting them for over a year now. as for a good tasting, wonderfully textured plan glazed, go to kryspy kream. bottom line, you've got to get there before 8:00 am if want a good selection and peek freshness. the size of doughnuts are good but lack the amount of filling from before; it depends on what kind of doughnut you want, if you want to get them from csd!

this isn't a game- country style will change your life. i don't even like sweets and i will eat a dozen blueberry donuts single handedly by myself with a pot of coffee. don't sleep on this place if you have any taste buds within your cranium. a true game changer within the baked goods community- each dozen at a time. r.i.p. krispy kreme- go suck one... you never pleased me the way country style does.

this is my 3rd time coming to this establishment. the pasties are good and normally i show up in the morning. but this was our first evening out there. well, after waiting for 3 minutes while the guy working the chatted away with some woman, another gentleman came out from the back. neither guy interacted with us - like they didn't wanted our business... i was ready to walk out but my spouse had already started a order. someone needs to talk to those guys working there working habits.

euphoric donut trance. i can't stop thinking about these donuts. so light and fluffy inside and oh the crispy crunchy exterior...mouth watering delicious! i am so thankful to a coworker that turned me on to these gems and now drive way out of my way to get my fix. i travel often for work and the route back home from the airport always includes a swing by for a dozen or more. the only way they could be better is if they opened another location closer to my home...and that could be dangerous...lol!
