cosmo's restaurant & bar

yummm. i ate at cosmos for the first time yesterday and it was the best out-of-town meal i've had in a while! sometimes restaurants at the beach are hit or miss. our party of 4 tried both the lavash cheesy bread and firecracker shrimp appetizers (splurging on vacation!) and both were so good. you can tell everything they make is from scratch... the marinara that came with the bread tasted like real tomatoes! fantastic.
anyway, for our meals we had mahi mahi sandwich, grouper, crab cakes, and hamburger and there were zero complaints. you get what you pay for here with fresh, tasty food, and lots of it.

great fish. the fish was cooked perfectly. it was moist and flaked apart to the touch. served over top of a bed of creamy risotto this was one of the best fish dishes i ever had.

went with a large party and young kids. got all the appetizers available on the upperdeck while waiting on our table. wait was a little young for young ones. the sushi is fantastic. the server was great but the kitchen seemed a tad slow. we all enjoyed our food alot!

asian glazed tuna- tuna cooked perfect very very rare. tasted great over the flavorful noodles but left me lookin for spice and heat.

good food, large portions, ok service. my casmos experience started out very awful. we arrived around 5 o'clock, the restaurant was not yet crowded but we were only given the choice of sitting outside or at the bar. this wouldnt have been a problem if they hadnt sat us right beside the door of the bar, which kept hitting the back of my chair the entire time (annoying). our surver did not seem like he really wanted to be here (really i felt like the entire restaurant was focused on the rush that was soon to come and not the customers there at the time)

besides this, the food was truly amazing. highly priced but so much food. all meals are large portions and extremely tasty. my party tried the firecracker shrimp, jerk chicken pasta, and salmon salad. all of use loved our meals. in all, it was a great meal and an ok experience

best meal in a long time!! my husband ordered the banana leaf wrapped sea bass and i ordered the mahi mahi over grits. we also indulged in the blt sushi and another type of sushi. wonderful service and outstanding food. we went at 4pm so the wait was not bad however, i would have waited 3 hours to eat here. this was truly our best meal at the beach. we are from birmingham al so we have plenty of good food back home but must say, this was the best meal i've had a quite a while. five stars!!

wow!. we were staying in orange beach on vacation and wanted to find a restaurant out of the ordinary so we searched online and found cosmo's. i had no idea until writing this review that it's rated the number 1 restaurant in orange beach, and i see why!

the cool thing about this restaurant is that it's apparently named after the owners' dog, cosmo, and so is their gift shop adjacent to the building called maggie's. our server told us that the owners are huge dog fans and really into dog rescues, which is something i care a lot about myself. they take donations in their gift shop for pets in need and due to that, this restaurant will always hold a special place in my heart.

anyway, the food! for an appetizer, we ordered the cheese dip. i had never seen cheese dip prepared the way they had it- with several different types of cheese mixed in and a crumbled cheese served on top, all with pita chips for dipping. i ordered their cheeseburger and it was cooked to perfection. their mixed drinks are all good too. i think i ordered something called a blue lagoon that was served in a mason jar...very good.

their menu is very eclectic and it is a tad bit pricey, but it was well worth it. our server was great and the atmosphere is really cool too- you're surrounded by pretty much all memorabilia having anything to do with dogs...which was fun for me. and all the cool dog-themed cosmo t-shirts the servers wear you can buy next door in the gift shop!

cheese dip! the cheese dip is superb, as are the banana fritters, but the entrees and the rest of the menu are hit-and-miss. not worth waiting an extended period of time for a table.

great place. thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. highly recommend the cheese dip and sesame tuna salad.

started with the cheese dip and it was great. then i ordered the banana leaf wrapped chilean sea bass. amazing! this place is a must and i will definitely be back!!

read the reviews and thought i'd try this place out. was told there was a 2 hour and 45 minute wait. lmao. apparently they're serving gold at this place. must be the quality live music (haha). seemed like an average beach town bar. enjoy...

went to cosmo last night. food was good. the restaurant is really big so service was a little slow and i thought the prices were a little high for what you get.

amazing food! good service. a little on the slow side but there was live music on the deck where we sat so that helped! we had the blackened mahi sandwich, crab cakes, and the seafood platter. all very good! we will go there when we go back for sure!

amazing food in a crowded but relaxed atmosphere. portions are very large. steaks cooked too perfection. wonderful craft beer selection
even the salad dressings were outstanding. we celebrated our 31 anniversary there last evening. we will definetly return. we did choose to dine in the bar as opposed to the family dining area as it was swamped with small children.

second time, just as good as the 1st!!! a cook that knows what to do! got the savory cheesecake both times... excellent. crawfish tails were superb! can't go wrong with cosmos grits and the parmesan risotto! crab cakes are not puny, great flavor. sushi roll good, but not the best. bread pudding.... to die for!!! great atmosphere and good people. will definitely be back!!
