this is the best thai restaurant i've visited so far. it's a smallplaceand barely noticeable from a moving vehicle. this is like a gem found in the mud. small cozy, old fashioned & clean restaurant. friendly staff & amazing food. pricing was also reasonable. i've tried the coconut lemonade, thai basil chicken fried rice and tom kah coconut soup. extremely satisfied with my visit today. thanks to my buddy to show me this place.

after seeing the 4 that thisplacegot on zomato i pushed myself to drive the 20 miles to get there. the ambience was pleasant and theplacewas clean. we ordered the sweet corn patty and the fresh spring roll for appetizers. they were both enjoyable and good. our main course was vegetarian yellow curry with rice, and spicy eggplant in brown sauce. the yellow curry was very watery but taste was alright. the eggplant on the other hand was not cooked soft and was s disappointments. my kiddo ordered coconut milk soup with a side of rice noodles. the soup was very ordinary. it's possible that we have some of the best thai restaurants in plano/ frisco that this one failed to shine. a goodplaceif you happen to be in the area..but not really worth the drive!

i have been to thisplacemany times and every single time it has served some amazing food.

food:

this is one of the best places for vegetarians with wide range of options to try out. we tried many things in our most recent visit. we started off with mocktails and went for veggie egg rolls and coconut pineapple soup in appetizers. coconut pineapple soup was exotic and a must try in case you want to move away from traditional soups to try something new. veggie egg rolls were subtle in taste and made a great appetizer along with the sauce they serve. these guys excel at noodles - pad thai and drunken noodles (pad kee mao) were amazing with great blend of tastes. we went for tofu as a protein, which was very good and soft, easy to break and blended well with the noodles. while both the entrees were great, i would prefer pad thai over drunken noodles. make sure you don't order the noodles "high" spicy or else you'd just not be able to eat it if you are not used to "very spicy" food. however, the best was yet to come when we went for dessert. their fried banana with coconut ice-cream is extremely good and concluded our dinner perfectly.

ambiance:

the ambiance of theplaceis very good. it is pleasant and peaceful, something which you always want for dinner. and if you are looking for some candle light dinner arrangement, this is theplaceto be. there is a sitting arrangement outside, which i presume, would be during their lunch service.

service:

the service at thisplaceis quite slow but it's worth it with the quality of food that they serve. the waiters are really good at providing good suggestions depending upon your preferences and always ready to help.

overall, thisplaceis must go to have gourmet thai food in an excellent ambiance and great service. also, keep your stomach empty before going here since the portions, especially the entrees, are large and if you are going for a three course dinner, you would invariably end up boxing up the entrees for sure.

the peanut sauce is worth it.. very good food. i plan on returning and trying more of the menu. the massaman avocado, peanut chicken, chicken satay have been very good. $4 beer isn't bad. the service was ok -- took a long time to get our food out but once theplacestarted to empty out there was more attention to us. i will go back and order peanut sauce to go, it's some of the best i've tasted.

excellent. great variety of dishes. crab fried rice has real crab. pad thai was the best i've had. excellent spice. great atmosphere. tiny and a bit hard to find, but worth it. if thisplacewas in addison, they would need more seating. great hidden gem.

i agree with others. thisplacewas average. the wait staff seemed confused to find us waiting for a table at the hostess stand. service was okay as was the food. we'll stick to best thai at belt line and midway.

here's the deal, i think people are a little taken aback that a halfway decent thai foodplaceis in farmers branch, or maybe this is some folks first exposure to thai food, so thisplaceis getting rave reviews. however. it's just ok, nothing special at all. if you where to keep heading east on beltline (1.9 miles) between marsh and midway across from sam's on the north side sits best thai which is seriously good, fresh thai food, one of the best in town. they aren't paying me to say this, i promise, just helping out my fellow foodies!

for some reason, i always overlook thisplacefor dinner. its a bit pricey and portions for me can be a bit small, however the food is really good. as long as its a full 3-4 course meal, appetizer, soup, entree, desssrt, i'm full and happy. just watch out for the spice level or you'll be unhappy about 6 hours later. the coconut ice cream is addictive and helps end the spicey meal right.

we have a new favorite!. rather than go to our usual thai haunt on saturday night we invited our friends to join us at the highly praised coconut thai grill to see what all the talk was about! tucked away in a rather odd spot on the edge of carrollton, we felt like we hit the culinary jackpot. in an old long john silver's outpost, this amazingplacehad plans for us to have a thoroughly enjoyable evening. we shared the corn patties a traditional spring roll, and a fried version. all were fresh and tasty. we moved on to splitting a green papaya salad in a lime vinaigrette. wow wow wow! crushed peanuts and green beans highlighted the perfectly julienned papaya. when i fell out of my chair, i knew that the papaya would help the bruising. our foursome then shared a variety of entrees, all different, all review worthy. the restaurant's signature dish, coconut chicken was served with perfectly moist and sticky rice and an unusual tamarind sauce. it was decided that a trip to coconut thai grill would not be complete without ordering this entree. we also went for the thai menu staple, pad thai. they also offered a "crispy" pad thai made with flat noodles but we opted for the standard version. it was, by far, the best in dallas! for something unique we ordered chicken larb, finely ground chicken, peanuts, and peppermint infused with basil and mint in a lime sauce. wow again. it went very quickly at our table. for our final selection we chose pad ke maow. the flat noodled dish was again the best we've ever had. there was no room for the much lauded desserts offered at coconut thai grill but we saw them pouring out of the kitchen and vowed that we would save room on our next visit.
it's not just the food that made our evening special. the ambiance from the family created artwork that decorated the walls to the lighting, to the music of ben folds and the like, our evening seemed to be complete. but we were in for a treat when a senior citizen came out of the kitchen with an apron on and introduced herself as momma, the owner. she was proud to say that she had prepared our dinner tonight as she does every night for all customers. it was such a nice way to personalize our experience. we can't wait till the weather is warmer and we can return to their quaint outdoor patio surrounded by tiki torches. somehow, someway, we will put out of our minds that we on sitting on beltline road and let the music, food, and friendly family service transport us to a beach on the coast of thailand.

awesome thai food in carrollton!. i found thisplaceon my way home a few days back so i gave it a try. we sat on the patio, and it's very nice weather, watching cars pass by, drinking a few beers(byob), and we ordered the daily special "salmon basil" omg it's heavenly!! only ten bucks for salmon! my sister ordered drunken noodles. she says it was yummy! most of the dishes on the menu are around $8 or 9, i think, for dinner… what a great deal! i will go back again soon.
