i am enthralled with their caramel cappuccino and turkish mocha. being a caffeinated soul, the only thing i desire round the clock is a good cuppa and cococoffeekept up to it. ginger fizz and hibiscus iced tea were refreshing and rejuvenating as well.

i am so fortunate to try my hands on the traditional handcrafted neopolitana pizzas freshly baked in a wood fired oven. the chef took me on a kitchen tour and i got to witness how these incredible pizzas are made. trust me, it's a lot of hard work and determination. vegetariana and spinach genovese were a revelation and mind if i say, the fresh burrata on top was orgasm. oops! foodgasm i meant, haha.

ambiance and decor:
an extension of the lobby to the lp residency, coco, coffeeand osteria is a pizzeria with simple and elegant interiors with pockets of comfortable seating areas, cozy corner table by the window with hanging plant baskets, and my favorite by the bookshelf.

it gets lively as the day proceeds, with diners both seated inside and out. with peppy music playing and the smiles and laughter of the diners brightens the evening, with a tantalizing aroma of freshly brewedcoffeeand the charred smokiness from the clay oven after taking out a freshly baked pizza, is what you're up for.

the outdoor seating arrangement is spacious, similar to being seated in a lovely park, fenced with beautiful greenery, flowering plants, and herbs. it looks very vibrant and pleasing. you are sure to be enveloped by the tranquil ambiance of coco and their warm hospitality.

food and beverages:

a warm cup of blue tokai mocha, is where your gastronomical journey begins at coco.

they have a contemporary yet traditional kitchen that offers a short menu with a variety of traditional italian staples, such as italian salads which can give a nutritious start to your day, with a vast spread of classic pastas and special handmade ravioli prepared fresh from scratch.

it happens to be the only outlet in town that serves the most authentic neapolitan pizza, also known as naples-style pizza that originated back in 1889, hand-worked and proofed overnight following the footsteps of italian culinary tradition. these artisan pizzas are prepared in an authentic wood-fired oven and are light on toppings allowing the flavors of cheese, tomato, and charred crust to be relished. they are very filling and the best part is you can order it with two different toppings on each half along with the freshly prepared burrata cheese, perfect for sharing as they are big enough to be sticking out of the plate. sounds tempting? i'm sure it does!

coco also offers freshly roastedcoffeesourced from blue tokaicoffeeroasters, which is one of the best coffees in town, aromatic and high on flavors with a perfect balance along with other cold beverage range. you can also enjoy the croissants, pastries, and tarts that are prepared in-house with the highest quality ingredients and are totally eggless. they also feature a wide selection of freshly baked gourmet breads.

the food presentation in itself is fabulous and is sure to make your mouth water!

the chef presented the following platters:

1. pasta penne bianca - a simple yet appetizing penne pasta served in white sauce with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, black olives, and exotic vegetables, topped with parmesan. it had a soft, ultra-creamy cheesy texture, and tasted flavorful. the green coral lace tuiles added vibrancy to the plating. it was served in hot and appropriate quantity with a piece of finely toasted garlic bread.

2. ravioli pollo parma rosa - must try alert! ravioli comes from the italian word riavvolgere, which means "to wrap". an italian dumpling originating from the 14th century, ravioli pollo parma rosa, a square-shaped pasta cuisine similar to dumplings, was hand prepared with a filling of shredded chicken, red peppers, basil, and cheddar, served in an evenly spread, creamy pink pasta sauce garnished with parmesan cheese, olives and in house thyme. a traditional italian cuisine, it had a supple, tender texture and tasted delightfully rich in flavors. with each morsel, the stuffed chicken mingling with the ravioli and pink sauce tasted outstandingly juicy and delicious.

3. veg pizza dog - a fusion of hot dog and pizza gives us a pizza dog, prepared using the in-house dough with a vegetable kebab, pizza sauce, and tomato center topped with cheese, mustard and mayonnaise dressed with cherry tomatoes, olives, and parsley. the artisan bun was soft and was served warm, freshly out of the clay oven with mildly charred, crispy shells gave a variety to the traditional bun concept along with a subtle burnt taste which made it delectable.

4. neapolitan pizza - i went for two pizzas with different toppings on each side.

1st topping was spinach genovese consisting of tomato sauce, mozzarella, baby spinach, green peppers, a swirl of pesto and evoo on one side. 2nd half was the classic margherita with a classic combination of mozzarella cheese, tomato sauce, fresh basil and evoo topped with burrata cheese.

3rd topping was pollo farmhouse with tomato sauce, mozzarella, chicken salami, grilled chicken, green peppers, jalapeno, black olives, and extra virgin oil and the 4th topping was pollo genovese with tomato sauce, mozzarella, grilled chicken, green peppers, onion, a swirl of pesto and extra virgin oil.

all combinations of flavors turned out absolutely delicious. the handmade pizzas were ultra-soft with a genuinely thin, charred crust, with crunchy, fluffy edges, and the tomato sauce made them soupy and slurpy. the in-house burrata cheese which was prepared with mozzarella, cow milk, and cream, into a hollow pouch, had a solid outer layer of cheese while inside it was soft and creamy. it gave the pizza a hint of milky flavor.

5. desserts - i loved the classic tiramisu, a coffee-flavored italian dessert with eggs, layers of mascarpone cheese, blue tokaicoffeeand savoiardi biscuits topped with cocoa, and smooth whipped cream giving it a delicate, melt in the mouth texture. the honey almond tart had a crunchy crust with a honey-coated dry fruit filling topped with thick creamy piping of dark chocolate.

both the desserts made me spellbound with their delicate, creamy texture and the right balance of sweetness and crunch of the tart, and the amusing taste of the honey-coated dry fruits with the thick, creamy dark chocolate. definitely, a must-try!

6. beverages:

they have a limited beverage menu however, offer a variety of coffees, teas, and shakes with options in both hot and cold. thecoffeeis freshly roasted sourced from blue tokaicoffeeroasters. the presentation and taste both will leave you pleased.

i would strongly recommend trying the hibiscus iced tea, it will instantly rejuvenate you. others that i tried were, hot mocha, turkish mocha, mocha shake which had their distinctive rich flavors and aroma.

if you’re looking for authentic, fresh handmade neapolitan pizza and freshly roastedcoffeealong with a delightful dessert, then coco is your go-to place.

it's quiet, relaxing, and comfortable. perfect for a lovely brunch or a nice dinner and is pocket-friendly considering the quantity and quality of servings and the exotic variety of ingredients used in preparing those gratifying dishes. the staff is very courteous. the service is fast, and the ambiance is rejuvenating. your visit to coco will be totally worthwhile, just give them a chance to tickle your taste buds with their lip-smacking, scrumptious, soupy handmade pizzas! and of course, if you have a sweet tooth, the almond tart is with which you can eat your emotions.

lastly, i would say, coco has set on a journey to upscale the italian food culture in dehradun with its authentic neapolitan pizza and handmade ravioli.

italians, specifically the ones from naples, are credited with the "invention" of pizza 🍕 (which further draws lineage from greek flatbreads that had ingredients baked into them, not to mention that naples was initially a greek port city). 💁🏻‍♂️

however, as is with capitalism that serves the masses, pizza has been twisted, turned, morphed and evolved into numerous avatars that suit the tastebuds and eating habits of the local populace. so much so that there are certain brands that come to mind when one says "let's have pizza tonight". 🤦🏻‍♂️

so what do you do when you are in dehradun and want to eat an authentic neapolitan pizza 🤤 (aka pizza napoletana) but can't afford to fly off to naples? (my personal reason for this is purely financial, but i'd prefer to blame the pandemic for as long as i can 😝). the answer is quite simple - you head to coco! 😍

note : you get to pair it with exquisitecoffee☕ from blue tokai, which is a major flex. 😎

1. location 📌
coco is in the premises of hotel lp residency on kaulagarh road. it is easily visible, and accessible, from the outside making it super convenient for a walk-in meal. there is some parking inside and ample space on the road, too.

2. seating and ambiance 🪑
there are seating spaces inside as well as outside. however, the latter is mostly open in the evening (or depending upon the weather).

the overall vibe of the place is very calming and warm with lots of natural light and greens all around. the music, too, is quite tasteful.

3. service 🙋🏻‍♂️
when you're at an lp property, the service is always top-notch. they have been in the hospitality business for decades and know how to pamper their customers. coco, naturally, is no exception to the rule. the staff is courteous and the service is quick.

4. food 🍴
we were a group of five people so we decided to try a decent variety of the foods on offer.

we started with a ravioli with mushrooms bianca that was creamy and stuffed well. next we had the ravioli pollo parma rosa which is the traditional term for pink sauce - this, too, was made well, had lots of sauce, was filled nicely and had some scrumptious cheese on top. 👌🏼

we couldn't decide on which pizza 🍕 we wanted and were pleasantly surprised to know that coco offers a half-n-half. we hopped on the opportunity and got ourselves a classic pepperoni (real pork 🐽) and classic margherita. the first thing we noticed was how light and fluffy the base was - undoubtedly the result of the 48 hour yeasting of 00 flour. the toppings were ample and the cheese was plentiful. full marks! 💯

one of the vegetarians of the group ordered a ravioli spinach neapolitan which was good enough to make us fight him for an extra bite 😂. it was bursting with flavour and, once again, had a good amount of fillings. taking the cue, we decided on trying the spaghetti pesto genovese 🍝 which, again, was a great decision. heck, we liked it enough to want to try another pasta, but we were nearing our appetites' end and gave preference to another pizza for the finale.

by this time we had much confidence in the space's veg offerings and so we ordered a spinach genovese pizza with burrata 🍕. for the uninitiated, burrata is a cow/buffalo milk cheese made from mozzarella and cream. and it is delicious. put it on a decent pizza and the result is oh-so-good! 🤤

done with food, we indulged in two of their in-house desserts : blueberry cheesecake and tiramisu jar. i can honestly say that both of these give the other dessert places of the city a run for their money. ♥

5. beverages
blue tokai is a name that commands respect in thecoffeecommunity and so, of course, we knew beforehand that the drinks will be amazing. we ordered a cappuccino, a turkish mocha, acoffeeshake and a cold press. our non-coffee-drinker-friend (yeah, every group has one 🤷🏻‍♂️) got a ginger fizz. as expected, everything was brilliant.

6. conclusion
coco has become my new go-to for pizza. and for turkish mocha. and for tiramisu. and well, a lot of the things that we tried, to be honest.

it has a great setting for a solo lunch, a delicious date or a meal with friends. more importantly, the food is excellent and the flavours are authentic. they use top quality ingredients and provide superb service.

if you haven't been here yet - take my word for it and go. you won't regret it. and, possibly, you'll keep going back for more - i know i will. ✌🏼

this place has one of the best tiramisu's i have ever had. thecoffeeflavour was brilliant and intense and the mascarpone cheese just melted in my mouth.
tried the salami caprese salad. it was the perfect dish for this hot weather. succulent tomatoes with cucumber and chicken salami with a light pesto dressing. but the hero ingredient of this salad was the cheese. fresh and light, it was fresh. being a foodie, i'm very particular when restaurants claim to serve authentic dishes and am very happy to report that both these dishes were authentic as the original italian dishes.
can't wait to try their neapolitan pizza now.

loved the food. i've had neapolitan pizza at leo's in delhi. so the bar was set high. happy to say that this place didn't disappoint, infact, it's become my go to place nowadays. the pizza is fresh and soft - just like it should be. the cheese is just perfect.and what a puff!

also tried their salami caprese salad - happy to say that it was authentic and super yummy. a perfect summer meal. the combination of cucumber, tomato with good salami and fresh mozzarella cheese hit just the right spots with my palate. the pesto was just right - not too less and not too much.

the ginger fizz was brilliant. if you like ginger ale's and ginger based drinks, look no more. i've been looking for a drink like this for long and now that i've found it, i'm hooked. they say that they make it fresh and oh boy, it is refreshing!

also tried the blue berry cheesecake - which is heavenly. i'm not a fan of cheesecakes or blueberry for that matter. however, we tried it on the chef's recommendation and it was melt in the mouth yummy. i don't even have a picture of it because it was done before i could click some.

my personal favorite has to be the tirmisu. loved loved loved the taste of blue tokaicoffeeand its freshness.

dehradun's food scene is picking up. this is a lovely place and is very well done up. it's very european in its feel and the good music, courteous service and routine sanitization makes you feel comfortable and makes you want to spend time here. perfect for longcoffeedates and have those leisurely conversations over good food.

keep up the good work guys.
