i love this place. ambience, food and genrally, everything about it. i hate it now..
but i had the worst experience i have ever had in this place and that too, on my birthday when i was hosting a few close friends. this was end of may, one of the hottest times in the year.
1. service - first, the staff wanted us to sit outside even though there were empty tables insides, as the tables were "reserved" (only one was). a second server let us have a table inside.
a little while into our meal, one of the servers comes up to our table and literally orders us to move to a table outside, as the table was reserved (which they had confirmed wasn't). he was extremely insensitive, and in the midst of our dinner rudely interrupted us and had the audacity to ask us to just get up and move.
even when i was leaving after the bill was paid, they didnt have even the slightest courtesy to be apologetic about spoiling my birthday and entirely ruining my mood.
2. ambience - wasnt any different, other places have gotten better though.
there was a bunch of adults, celebrating a lady's 40th birthday. happy birthday.. but i wish you had better choice of a circle.
so the average age of this crowd was over 40 (i know since this was getting discussed, problems of beyond the 40s). these bunch of well-to-do, civilised adults, chose to hang their behinds into one of my friends faces. he had to squeeze his arms tight and even then barely had space. and these grown-ups even had their behinds almost resting on our table while we were having our food, being utterly obnoxious and loud (a group of about 15). there were 2 females on the table including myself, and none of these aunties and uncles even had the slightest of manners to give us any space, and i could hear the server discussing us with a bunch of men. they made it so bad that we had to leave.
3. food - we didnt order much because obviously one can't eat in an environment like this. i ordered one of the classics, stuffed chicken breast and it was pathetic (i am not being biased). the mashed potatoes was just potatoes mashed in dilute milk with no creaminess or texture or even a hint of butter. the mushroon sauce was watery and chicken bad. the chilly chicken was good.
i have spent really good times here, but this was the last visit to this place. coz clearly a table of about 15 ill mannered people is preferred over 4 young adults. it was downright cheap the way these people treated us, and the worst ever birthday i had, all thanks to clock tower.
i even discussed the entire incident with the floor manager while i paid my bill (i had to walk up to the counter to do that too), and he didnt even begin to apologize. he was rather happy that we left and had no iota of being able to handle any part of the situation.
utterly disgusted and disappointed. a really charming place turned into a nightmare.
