what a treat to take my family there tonight! we had no complaints and the service was excellent. we will definitely be back!

yumm. we tried the diner for a saturday morning breakfast. there was no wait time. the food was delicious.

i had the omelet with cheddar, spinach, and mushrooms with rye toast and a potato pancake. by far the best part of breakfast was that potato pancake...they were not afraid to use seasoning, and although i was anxious about the batter recipe (as opposed to the shredded n pressed version), it still tasted like mom's cooking.

he had the "hungry man's breakfast" platter with 3 types of meat and potatoes. the potatoes could have been a little darker, but overall the meal was satisfying.

strong coffee. not skimpy on the portions. could have done without the fox news playing on the tv, but otherwise no complaints. total $25 with tip.

great food, great people!. the food is made with love, every single dish. there is a passion for excellent home style cooking that just makes everything authentic and honest. with all the dining choices we have, this is my birthday pick and my go to spot. to be honest, its not just the food, its the staff. they will instantly make you feel like family. they are truly wonderful!

the quintessential diner.... i only have breakfast here..... though the blueberry dump cake was amazing. breakfast is always prepared to order, and it's just done right. there is no glitz or glam or wifi just real delicious food with real people serving.

at times the place is busy and there isn't tons of seating.... it's a diner and a damn good one. get there early, enjoy the ambiance, have a couple cups of coffee pay, at the register and come back tomorrow... love'm.

our waiter was friendly and attentive, food was ok but seemed to be missing some flavor. place is very small and coffee was watered down.

older crowd at this place which makes sense as it was recommended to me by an older gentleman. likely my first and last visit.

great food, service and prices. my fiance and i were looking for a new breakfast place and we found classic diner. needless to say we were instant fans of the place. the food tastes awesome, portions are on point, service is great and the prices are perfect. if there was one thing to complain about would be that the place is a little small and not a lot of tables but its almost what makes the diner so great. i almost hate giving this review because i want to keep this place as much of a secret as i can so we don't have to fight even bigger crowds.

down home cooking, local atmosphere. i came from a big breakfast, three square meals, mom cooked dinner and packed my lunch, kind of family. my extended family lives in new york where the deli's and diners match the character of the locals.
hampton roads provides a number of diners and delis that desperately try to mimic the new york feel, with little to zero success other than a crowd of hungry, breakfast seekers tend to keep them afloat.
i found classic through a friend of mine and you will find me there every sunday morning for breakfast.
i've eaten there for lunch and dinner and the food is as good as i can remember the home cooked meals i grew up on with the ny twist in the uncanny local atmosphere.
classic diner is my place to eat and catch up with the local regulars.
it's not a 'top notch, formal place' it's a relaxed, 'we treat you like family' place, so don't expect big box restaurant, scripted service.

i absolutely love this place. great food, great service and great atmosphere. however, this place was extremely small and being a smaller person myself, i didn't even have anywhere to put my knees while sitting at the bar. we were smashed in to the wall. we went on a sunday morning, so busy was a given, but try and come on a not so busy day cause you will wait forever otherwise. really good food though!

birthday dinner with family. so far so good i am still sitting in the restaurant and can not be more pleased with the atmosphere the wait staff was friendly and the food has come out prompt i have gotten the classic hungry man special and can not be more pleased with how it tastes and looks. i definitely recommend this place the only thing that would make it better is doo wop music to make the classic diner experience complete.

the 4 of us were looking for a breakfast joint in va beach. classic diner came up. amazing. chipped beef on toast, potato pancake, hash browns and omelettes. all were delicious. highly recommended.
