i've been living across the road from this cafe/bakery for a very long time now.
finally made it across today.... 30mins until they close. the staff greeted me with a friendly bonjour. they didn't seem fatigued or impatient at what would have been the end of a long morning (they always seem to be packed out the door).
had a flaked & smoked salmon roll, with fresh, thick cucumber slices. it certainly wasn't packaged sliced portions i've come to expect from a lot of places. very enjoyable.
also had a very light, orange & peach cake surrounded by ladyfingers (pictures may do it more justice).
it was a lovely lunch & i will be back.

one of the best and most authentic french bakeries in brisbane. a bit on the pricey side but perfect for a weekend treat or a special occassion. cakes and breads are fantastic.

friendly service, the price is not overly cheap but you get quality. i've tried the bread and butter savoury pudding numerous times and doesn't disappoint. pretty much anything there you can get is good. worth a try!

as i've been exploring new farm lately, and with my love of french pastries, a friend suggested that i ought to give chouquette a try. it was situated on barker street, just off brunswick street. . upon entering, we were greeted by the delicious sight of pastries and buns. w i note that the pastries had a much more basic looking colour compared to the vibrant colours that i am usually used to in le bon choix, which looks far more natural.

it should be a happy thing when brisbane finally has a decent dessert place, especially it's a french pastry. but the staff there is a big problem - they have a really bad attitude. i couldn't feel any welcoming atmosphere when i went inside the shop. may be i am an asian? cause based on my observation, the female staff there usually changes her face back to delightful mode when she greets a local customer (or a guy). i went to this pastry shop for 2 times, and still experienced the same thing. your cakes are beautiful, but the attitude is really a big part playing here. i don't pay for taking this whole attitude shit, be frank.

love this place. best almond croissants in brisbane! chouquette never fails me. everything is just delicious. the mushroom croissant is so good, the filling is creamy and rich with mushroom flavour.
ordered the individual cakes before also and they are divine.
coffee service can be slow but coffee is smooth and not bitter.

founded and managed by lara sample, chouquette opened in 2006… i didn’t visit until 2014, what a shame! at least we got a few visits in before moving away.

with the skills of french-born and trained bakers and pastry chefs, alongside australian staff, chouquette consistently produces authentic and high quality delights. it’s easy to see why customers return again and again.

in 2013, chouquette’s sister business, crust & co, opened in wilston as a wholesale business that also caters to the public. if you know me, then i’ve definitely told you how much we love crust & co! chouquette is no different, with the bonus of more options and atmosphere!

the small bakery in new farm opens at 6:30am weds-sunday. get in early for the best selection of goodies, as well as a seat! there are a handle of seats indoors and a few more outside on the sidewalk. definitely not a place to set up shop and study for the day, but a bite to eat and catch up with friends is perfect! you will also notice a consistent stream of customers come in for take away goodies through out the day.

this is one of my favourite café in brisbane. as you can see from the urbanspoon rating… it never disappoints. you are always greeted with a smile and then followed by ‘bonjour’. the café has a relaxing atmosphere and great outdoor seating area. weekends can be a very busy with constant flow of customers but if you wait patiently (15-20minutes) you still manage to find a table. this year we kept our yearly ritual to have breakfast at chouquette on the last working day of the year. we arrived at 7am and there is already a queue! we ordered two flat white, an almond croissant, pain au chocolat, pains d'amande and a gingerbread christmas tree (for dessert at night). all in all it was approximately a$35. the sweetness of the viennoiseries were perfectly balanced with the flat white. it was a great start to a perfect brissie day. bon appétit!

beautiful french pastries, but room for improvement. we frequently visit chouquette and are always impressed with the high quality of the lovely food and coffee.

the major downside, however, is that every time we come they have run out of some of the items we were hoping to order. most often this happens with pain au chocolat and almond croissants, but also occurs with the savoury croissants and macarons. we hear other patrons remark on the lack of selection as well.

i would like to suggest that chouquette increases the production number of some of their more popular items. i realise that the numbers are related to potential for wastage, but surely the number of customers asking if there is any more stock out the back should indicate that the numbers may need to be increased.
