the mactan newtown
have you ever heard choobi choobi's radio ad? well, their jingle's been stuck in my head for quite some time now - absolutely anything can trigger the familiar 'choobi choobi na..' refrain. anyway, back to the review! choobi choobi is a fave of my relatives so we almost always end up eating here when in cebu. anyway, the branch in mactan fresco actually has a junior attached to it - i think this may be because theirmenuis smaller compared to the normal choobi choobi branch but idrk.
we ordered a lot but of course the go-to order in choobi choobi would be their shrimp. as i have an allergy when it comes to shrimp, i didn't try it. sad lyf man.
but i did have their pork bbq and calamares. both of which were really good. 😆

the mactan newtown
another frequent family hangout in mactan alfresco is choobi choobi (fookien for "to enjoy"). despite it's foreign-sounding name, it'smenucourses are mostly filipino all-time favorites.

ever since its inception in 2013, tons of cebuano folks from all ages have developed a fondness for their delightful value meals, its phenomenal growth buoyed by the famous tagline: "lingaw lingaw kaon!" (eat for fun/relaxation). from its first branch in parkmall mandaue, choobi choobi has now expanded to nearly 20 branches nationwide.

whenever we swing by their mactan store, we never fail to order their signature dish: stan's fried black pepper shrimp (php 395) - luscious shrimps deep-fried with a special crispy batter garnished with their unique in-house sauce.

choobi choobi claims to grow their own shrimps and declares having the freshest shrimps in town. no objection to this claim; everyone in our family absolutely agrees!

try their krispy kalamari (php 175) - dipped in sweet & sour sauce, this savory squid dish is another sure winner.
