fantastic!. there are agoodfew chinese restaurants in hickory, and most are pretty decent. china view, although quirky, has always stood out a bit more to me than all of the others, however. it isn't that they are overwhelmingly fantastic, although they are pretty good, don't get me wrong. it is the whole experience. most anything you order will be tasty, and they have agoodselection. if you want something hotter, or plainer, or without some vegetable or other, they will cook it to order, no questions asked, and get it right every time. i haven't had a whole lot of variety from there, because i tend to have a few things i really like that i eat a lot, but i wouldn't be afraid to experiment with new foods there either.
the service isn't really an aspect, they bring you your food, and get you refills, but you handle the rest. the food is brought out in a timely fashion, though, and i've never had any cause to complain. i will say this, though. i don't know about the rest of the staff, but this place is run by a husband and wife. the wife reminds me of someone's grandma, with that sweet but strict sort of demeanor. no joke, she once told me that i eat to much, and that i could only have the small order of what i wanted. from most anyone, that would be horribly insulting, but she has this sort of personality that lets you know that she's not being a jerk or rude, and genuinely thinks that course of action would be better for you.
i guarantee you, go once, she'll remember you if you come back in anything less than a month. i highly recommend this place. i go back whenever i'm in the mood for chinese, and it's never once let me down. i also, when i'm lucky, get my food from that sweet lady, who always makes my day a bit brighter.
