came here at noon on a sunny sunday over the long weekend, and surprisingly, didn't have to wait! the cafe is spacious and not too noisy.
i ordered theblackbenedict, which was charcoal open bun burger with coleslaw, two poached eggs, and one soft shell crab halved. beautifully flavored, not too heavy or saucy, and a big portion size. the eggs were perfectly poached, the crab was fresh, the buns were fluffy and had a hint of sweetness.
also ordered an almond croissant - not overly sweet and was good to finish the meal with. the cappuccino was a bit too milky i thought.

my friends ordered the scallop shell and tako inkkie. i didn't get to try it but they said they were great!

what a gem! it was so good i came back 2 weekends in a row. hidden among the offices of the quieter side of chatswood station, the music was pumping when i got there and the place was very busy, but i was lucky to get a small table up the front of the open deck. the food did take a while to arrive, but when they did, you forget how long you waited. they were smashing! the meal looked visually exciting as well as taste delicious. theblackbenedict was a comb of ablackbrioche bun (infused with squid ink & you can taste it too), poach egg (oozy), softshell crab (well fried, not oily),blackhollandaise sauce, salmon roe & cabbage slaws. it was a massive serving, but all the tastes were well balanced. the second visit i got the french toast, again looked amazing. it was a trio of mini toast (brioche), each with a different filling & flavours, a choc ganache, a lychee ganache & a berry coulis. they were all good. the best thing was that it comes with your own mini jar of nutella! who doesn't love nutella! i'll definitely be back for more.

met up with a friend in chatswood and she decided to come here. the menu isn't huge but the items are interesting. tried the taro milk tea which was alright, i found that flavour a little too subtle.

we had the breakfast burger and theblackbenedict. both were inblackbuns and were really tasty. the burger was on the specials board instead of the menu and had sausages and hash browns. theblackbenedict was a soft shell crab egg bene. we also had the french toast for dessert. it was delicious and filling. it even had a small tub of nutella. there were also other items which looked interesting like the panna cotta. we also noticed afterwards about food items on their instagram like the croissant with scallops.

the food here is quite nice and the portions are decent. it is a fairly small cafe with a few tables overlooking the road. service was really friendly and on point. i can see why this place is popular.

i discovered this café on instagram & had to try it. me & 2 other friends ordered theblackbenedict, scallop shell & chimichuri eggs.
my order was theblackbenedict & it was so good, theblackhollandaise sauce was a bit weird because of the colour, my lips wereblack& some were stuck on my teeth but it could be wiped off with a napkin easily but still tasted like hollandaise sauce.
the shift shell crab was so crunch, the poached egg had the yolk ooze out perfectly & the salmon roe gave it a nice finishing touch.
the scallop shell is what i really wanted to try but my friend really wanted it so i decided to go for something else so we didn’t have the same dish & she said it was really nice, the eggs had a gold taste and cooked perfectly. i guess i’m just going to have to come another time and try it for myself.
the last dish was the chimichuri eggs which were good, basic breakfast/brunch food but still tasted good.
our frappes were green tea matcha, red velvet & taro - these were made so well, not too sweet but not bland either. it was not sickening and went well with our order.
overall, i would definitely recommend and i will be coming back to try the scallop shell

ordered the piggy mac n cheese withblackbenedict along with two coffees.

food came out first and coffees never came. we asked for our coffees and were told there was a printing error on the docket and they would make it for us again. we asked them again during the meal and got the same response. as we finished we asked a third time. as we waited we asked a different waiter a fourth time. we walked to the counter and found that our coffee order had been placed in a queue and was still waiting to be made.

definitely disappointed with the service here. i understand there was a printer error but not receiving our coffees during the entire meal doesnt seem fair.

ordered theblackbenedict and inkkie and for drinks got the red velvet latte and green matcha latte. everything was perfect. came on a very rainy day but it didn’t ruin the outdoor setting and was very comfortable. the aesthetics of this dish is beautiful and was one of the best squid ink pastas i have tasted 👏👏

food was nice, fresh and creative. the price is reasonable considering the quality and the attention to details. very much instagram ready food. i would say there was a bit too much bread on theblackbenedict - well i just left the top bit... no big deal.

service was nice, staff was friendly.

nice open cafe with wooden interior - a short walk from the station. staff were attentive & average wait time for dishes - burger was decent, soft shell crabblackbun was okay though probably missing some sauce to tie the flavours together - the dish is quite heavy for brunch

had been to this place before and this time i ordered take away.
the chips is highly recommend, it would be the best chips i had for the last whole year.
theblackchicken burger is also inspiring

i ordered the famousblackbenedict. i loved the squid ink hollandaise and charcoal brioche bun with the soft shell crab. all of the elements of the dish perfectly complemented one another to establish an all round worthy meal. i am excited to try the sweet side of chimichuri such as the panna cotta.

this cafe is little hidden gem in the heart of chatswood. these dishes are all definitely instagram worthy, but i found myblackbenedict a little lacklustre in terms of seasoning. a great effort on the idea though! my friend had the scallop shell which i had a little taste of - i think i liked that better than my meal.

we both shared the french toast together but i wasn’t really a fan of the chocolate and lychee combination. chocolate is such a decadent and potent ingredient compared to a sour and sweet lychee - the two confused my palate to be honest but i thoroughly enjoyed the french toast itself without everything else. i wouldn’t really order it again, i regret not ordering the panna cotta, but this won’t be my last time visiting this cafe.

nice food - pretty and tasty! friendly staff too. we orderedblackbenedict, pull pork roll, scallop and wagyu beef burger. they all come in huge portion. great place to meet up with friends and share food together!

delicious, fast service and unique. tucked away in a quiet corner of chatswood it is a small gem with a calm ambience. their red velvet latte was just the right amount of sweet, and came in no time. their signatureblackbenedict with soft shell crab is amazing. despite looks, it is easy to eat, appealing to the eye, and the flavour is there. i later used left over sauce from the bun with their battered fries and it worked a charm. highly recommend.

tried one of their signature dishes,blackbenedict. it was the most appealing egg benedict dish i have had. golden battered deep fried soft shell crab with runny centered poached eggs, salmon roe & house madeblackhollandise made with squid ink to coat the egg in glossyblackserved on ablackbrioche bun. everything was cooked to perfection, although theblackhollandise sauce wasn’t as creamy & flavoursome as hollandise sauce should be, but for creativity-wise & presentation-wise, i’d give 5/5. 🤩

as for the sweet-savoury combo, lick my bacon did not disappoint. a red stripped croissant sandwiching thick cut bacon, haloumi & hash brown. the maple syrup on the side for you to drizzle for that sweet/salty sensation. 🥰

excellent presentation of food. staff is attentive & efficient. price is on the high side but it’s still worth a visit for people who seek instaworthy food. 😙
