chill gelato * fusa * red 8 chinese

this is actually a really neat place. they have an interesting mix of cuisines (chinese food, teriyaki rice bowls, burgers, pasta, burritos....).  i particularly love their boba smoothies!  the cream based smoothies are fantastic! i definitely recommend the taro, lychee, and the caramel latte!  i also loved their honey crispy walnut chicken and their cheese wontons!  the chinesefoodi've tried was alright and their teriyaki sauce was on the sweeter side, but good.  definitely worth a try, particularly for the drinks!

when you hear about this place it's odd and confusing, gelato with asian food? burgers, burritos, and chicken fried rice in the same place? don't be scared off by that, because thefoodhere is really good. haven't tried everything, but the japanese fried rice stands out for me.

mostly good but not red 8. had a coupon so i stopped in to give this place a try today. my chicken teriyaki rice bowl was very good. the chicken was all white meat and freshly prepared. it was accompanied by steamed white rice (brown is also an option), sliced white onions and coined zucchini. i also tried some sushi and some of the red 8 items. the sushi was tasty and fresh but nothing to write home about. better quality than localfoodmarkets but there are too many other options in the area if you are looking for a quality sushi meal. to their credit sushi is not what fusa touts as its specialty. now on to the red 8 chinese food. simply put, it was nothing short of putrid. i could only muster two bites of each dish i ordered. thefoodhad obviously been sitting in a serving tray under a heat lamp for quite some time. several hours at least. the meats were shoe leather tough, the veggies soggy and the battered items more closely resembled rocks than food. the flavors of everything were either ketchup disguised as sweet and sour sauce, or your typical brown sauce, which is usually soy-based. the kung pao had no heat whatsoever and no kung pao flavor. same for the beef broccoli. both dishes tasted identical, which is to say "bad". overall i give this place 4 stars out of 10. i doubt i will return. other than these things the restaurant was nice and clean, with a friendly staff. prices were very reasonable, almost all items $8 or under.

fusa is set up much like a mallfoodcourt, with several counters offering different cuisines. there is chinese, japanese, mexican, sushi, pasta, burgers, and last but not least, gelato to top it all off.

fusa has moved from the towne eastfoodcourt to 303 s. greenwhich. the owner also brought in a red 8 chinese franchise, and she bought the equipment, brand, and recipes for chill gelato, formerly at the waterfront (13th & webb). this makes for a destination where a family can go and one member have american hamburger or a salad, while other family members enjoy a fusion of asian flavours - stir fry, teriyaki, sushi, noodles, as well as latin flavors like quesadillas & burritos. brown steamed rice is available as well as white steamed rice. for dessert, gelato and frozen yogurt are available, as well as espresso. our family really enjoyed eating here!
