charbar no.7

first visit is the last visit. this was a small firends' gathering on friday night may 24, 2013 and the location was suggested by one of our friends who thought the menu and pricing looked good. he called ahead with how many of us were coming and confirmed at 7:30pm that the table was being readied for 12 people at 8pm. when we arrived the table was not ready and it wasn't available until 9pm;by that time 5 people couldn't wait anymore. when we sat down no waitress came over and i had to search and ask if we would get service. no water was brought immediately, the service was atrocious. we didn't get our meals until over 35 minutes from ordering and by this time the restaurant was only half full. the manager came over and apologized profusely for the mistakes and said she'd comp some of the food. no comps were given and an 18% gratuity fee was added to everyone check. after 24 years in charlotte - and many restaurants - this is one the worst dining experiences i've ever experienced.

great place, but menu on this site is like 4 years old

we've now eaten here a few times and have enjoyed each meal. service has been comfortably attentive and the food always well prepared. they have a great selection of creative burgers to choose from.

the overall taste was pretty good. the patty itself was a little dry but did have a unique textured mix which you don’t see in most patties. but it did have a steak salad type of taste to it which was in part of using a vinaigrette dressing on the burger. i almost wished it had croutons.

we love the carmel location, but wont bebe returning to the new matthews location. i have never written a review, but after tonight felt the need to post. we didnt get our food for over an hour. when i asked for a manager it took her 10 minutes to come to our table. they definitely need more time to train their staff.

charbar no 7 is awesome. we come here all the time. don't miss the fried pickles. the leap year burger and the cb 7 burger are great.

john and james are awesome. ask for the special # 7.

called in advance for 2, were told no need to reserve. were promptly told to wait upon arrival. were seated on the bar side, waitress with glasses walks up, i asked a simple question about their website and specials, was stared at as if i was stupid, and then was told i couldn't place my food order. it's a shame, i had heard only great things, but that server was the reason i walked out of a restaurant for the first time. cancelled our drink orders at the door. will try again, but if its her, i will ask to be moved.

got a tuna steak burger, came out super well done and when i asked server she proclaimed that's how they come.....why waist time on tuna well done?

queso dip rocks! and service is fabulous!

we went to charbar no. 7 a couple nights ago to hang out with some friends and get some drinks and appetizers, we opted for the outdoor dining because it was a beautiful day. the beauty soon turned ugly when we got our menu's…

not open at lunch. just an fyi - i went to charbar for lunch today to find that it isn't open for lunch - a little disappointed ! ):

dinner was great. new york strip was a fine piece of meat. the steak and fries were well-prepared and tge cornbread was like cake.

this place is awesome - great service and terrific food. we had burgers, steaks and sides (not sure why that other reviewer would go to a place called charbar and not order meat) and everything was perfect. would definitely recommend and will go back!
